In as much as saving is good it doesn't warrant you not having/living a good live. I mean you have to live for the present before the future if you're not alive today how can you then live in the future your investing/or saving for, one can not always invest in every circumstances or event you have to always get the essential needs. That you have to spend on yourself or take care of yourself does not mean spending unnecessarily or living a luxurious/or extravagant life.
Additionally, what is the future? Your future is your next minute not even exactly what we in our subjective reality see it to be, every minute of our live that we do not know or can not predict is a future because years or months before today you called today a future so live your live now because you don't know tomorrow. This is a popular saying that "Nobody knows tomorrow" so why suffer so much when you have it already just for the fact that you wanna save for a  future! Nah!.
Invest but don't die while investing. In my country there is what is popularly known as "next of kin" this does not just mean the normal next of kin but there is an extraordinary meaning attached to it, if you don't spend or take of yourself today (present life) one next of kin who do not know how you suffered to make this money or investments will spend it all when you're no more. So be wise and not be over conscious of the future.

over a decade ago. (pre bitcoin) i was frugal but my mindset was that my "wants" were NEEDS. like i needed certain entertainment TV packages for movies and tv series. i needed to enjoy fast food as its more convenient then self cooking, i needed to go to the gym, sports clubs and night time activities, i needed X time off for vacations.. nothing was a want, everything felt as a need

then i got into bitcoin, and decade later im set, retired early and have no money worries

that said, im still frugal. where i dont see "needs" i just see wants. and now i question those wants and realise i dont need.

it can feel good to walk into a restaurant and know you can afford anything on the menu but buy the basic meal..
it can feel good to walk into thrift/charity store knowing you could afford the whole stores produce at their original unused retail rate, but you are buying the same thing second hand (i also do new retail price.. but i do enjoy frugalness too)
it can feel good to walk into a car dealership knowing you can buy their newest model full price, but then asking about their ex-display/ex-owned/trade-ins

i still travel and enjoy experiences but i just dont have the "need" weight on my shoulder. and i realise how wasteful my "wants" were

I suppose that sometimes I feel that way, however when looking at the things I wanted to buy at the time I get to see that my decision to not buy those products was in fact the right decision most of the time.

Every single day we are bombarded with ads trying to make us spend more money than what we can afford, and while it is necessary to spend some money now in order to fulfill our needs and wants, being able to think about the future and suppress those feelings has helped me tremendously, as when I compare myself with my friends and other people my age I am in a great position, and this will only improve even more once the price of bitcoin goes up even further.

Doing everything in limit is worth it if you cross the limit then it will not give you much benefit in anything, same way if you are only saving after sacrificing so many things from your life just like you are not having fun, not fulfilling your small wish which brings you joy and happiness. Yeah, it is very easy to get caught in a routine and forget to live a little. The worst thing that sometimes happen to people is when they "live to make money instead of making money to live".

It is not a bad thing to want to save or invest your money for the future as long as you have a clear plan not just saving money forever. For example you could be planning on working hard and saving money for 5 years to reach your big goals then from that point you loosen up and start spending more. But if you save money for 5 years then continue not spending anything and invest more and save more, you'd be wasting your life.

I have the opposite problem. It is not as drastic as others but sometimes I have a habit of buying things that do make me happy for a while and then regret it sooner or later. Especially things related to online entertainment such as games or subscriptions. I tend to get bored quite easily so it is hard to get the best bang for my buck. Stability is needed so that we don't get too carried away by future ambitions, forgetting that the days passed must also be taken into account properly. Yep, this is an obvious truth. If not separated, I believe there will be a distinction between timelines, but it has clearly been programmed since we were born. Sometimes when you look at your dependents, especially the children you feel like keeping all you have ever earned for the future. In some cases, you deprive yourself of some important needs just to ensure that the children have a financially secure future. Actually it all depends on our position when saving and investing, and I do both and prioritize the investments I plan for the future and also when I really need them and use them according to my needs.

I was once like this, I deprived myself and my family alot of good things we wanted or needed, and this was all because I was forcing myself to try to hold some money in crypto as investment.

I was thinking like this before until my beloved grandma died without me giving her the support I should give because I’m still saving back then for my future. I have been here and I have past this level of financial timeline. I think investing is one of the best ways to reach good goals in a person's life. When you plan an investment for the long term and hold on to its success, you must give up small gains. If you want to buy something, you must sacrifice a lot in terms of investment. If you have invested money to buy something, you must give up many achievements and rely only on this investment for the future. The future planning you invest in to shape your life is your main objective and your investment will secure you financially in the future. And everyone wants to enjoy a great life, so I guess everyone invests for a bright life in the future.

That's something very intimately linked to personality. There are very impulsive people who aren't capable of saving the most basic percentage of their income just in case, and those who find it difficult to waste in nonsense the money they got thanks to their hard work.

My two best friends are like that: one cannot resist the temptation (whatever it is) and the other one doesn't even have a coffee when we hang out together. So, knowing well the two extremes, I'm well aware that the virtue is in the balance, like Aristotle would've said.

One should save for the future while he's got the tailwind, but not to the extent to sacrifice the present for a future that we take for granted but is not sure.

It's always advisible to invest for the future but we also have to try and enjoy the present. There's a difference when you can't enjoy the present with the money you make because you have too many responsibilities and when you can't enjoy the present because you're saving for the future. We have to try to do things that will make us happy and keep our minds in sane. The purpose of an investment is to have a better life in future, but it doesn't mewn we have to live s very unhappy life now.
Life is meaningless of we're not happy so go on that vacation, buy the things you want but try to live within yoir means. The problem raises when you try to go above your means.

There should be a balance between the two. You shouldn't ignore saving money or making investment but you should also not make yourself and your family suffer and live a miserable life just because you have to prepare for the future because your future means nothing if you are not living a good life right now. I know that preparing for a better future for yourself and your family is a great thing but that doesn't make your present useless which means that you should equally invest in your present.

And it's not just about money, a lot of people tend to spend no time with their friends and families because they are busy making more money so that they can save or invest for their future, they don't realize that they are wasting their golden years and when they get into the future, they will wish that they had spent more time with their loved ones instead because money and everything else can come any time, but you can't have your loved ones around forever.

I think realistically, indeed investing for the future will be very promising, especially if you invest with bitcoin or layer 1 coins. but you also have to think, in addition to having fun in the future we are living today. and will not know when we will die and leave all the assets we have. so my view, have fun for today and the future.

I myself started organizing my finances from now on. i allocate about 40% for future investments, and more for current needs. why only 40% for future investments? because i live in today, and assume that what i invest in does not exist, so I don't think too much about the asset. and maybe I will inherit it to my children.

EG those that are full on anal about saving.. budget it
for instance
new bedframe and mattress every 8 years (expect 4 years incase of damage) $1200 / 48months = $25/month to save
new fridge freezer every 6 years (expect 3 years incase of damage) $600 / 36months = $17/month to save
new washing machine every 6 years (expect 3 years incase of damage) $400 / 36months = $12/month to save
new boiler every 10 years (expect 5 years incase of damage) $2500 / 60months = $42/month to save
new PC every 6 years(expect 3 years incase of damage) $600 / 36months = $17/month to save
meaning you would put aside $113 a month to cover appliences whereby within a few months you can cover if one of them stopped working

and then set a budget for hobbies. that way because its part of a budget there is no guilt in spending because its part of your affordability plan

Every human would like to live in the world of dreams. Every human has dreams. But living in the world of thoughts and dreams is not a good thing. There is no limit to human thought and likewise no limit to desires. Therefore, we cannot depend on the imaginary future. But sometimes ،it feels good and the heart wants us not to get out of the settlement of these thoughts.
But despite all this, life and its economic problems are very bitter and painful. We have to face these problems bravely. So we should make effort to improve our finance.

Everyone has a lot of dreams about the future but not everyone has a plan for it or even if they want to it becomes difficult to save money because as like i have a family and it's costs a lot of money to manage family and also myself, even i need money in a month more than my monthly income.
