I just got an old piece of laptop recently (temporary). So I was thinking of trying a linux distro as a daily user. I can't change it again and again. I'm reposting this as a topic this time.
My requirements aren't that much. Everything a windows user can do should be enough for me. As example, browsing, writing in Microsoft word (or any other word alternative), gaming a little (Age of empire, call of duty etc), Using VPN, programming in visual studio code, watching movies and stuff etc.
Also the distro has to be stable, bug free with LTS support. And able to customize a little would be nice (Not heavy but only little). The OS itself shouldn't lag, or have any performance issue.
I have heard many people saying they face problem when installing drivers, especially graphics drives, so I'm unsure of what to do with that.
Previously I was thinking of using
Linux Mint Xfce 21.2 Victoria edition, later I though of using
MATE edition. But now I got confused again. So here I am, asking for the suggestion, from the seniors.
My specs: - CPU: Core i-5-7200U @ 2.50 GHz 2.71 GHz
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
- RAM: 8 GB
- SSD: 240 GB
