As we look forward to the anticipated bullrun come 2024, what altcoins are you holding and why do you think they will bring more returns compared to others?
The profits some traders are making from altcoin could be very attractive. But we have to also recognize that the altcoin business terrain is highly volatile. As a newcomer in the crypto space, I have not acquired the requisite knowledge to trade on these altcoins which is why I am only focusing on Bitcoin. A friend of mine just told me how he made some good money a few days ago on altcoins and I told him that I am not interested now because I want to move gradually from the known to the unknown.

Don't be carried away by the profits people make in altcoins because many people have also lost fortunes trading on them. The bull run also comes with an increase in scam projects, that is the reason why I am only concerned with the project I am sure of which is Bitcoin. But anybody who understands the altcoin sector and is willing to bear the risk is welcome to invest as he/she pleases.

Bitcoin is for everyone whereas altcoins is for people who have got good knowledge about the market. Only then it is possible to buy/sell at the right moment and enjoy the benefits. Most of the time altcoins need to be considered for short term profiting as we can't be sure of the price progress same as bitcoin. Bitcoin being the king, it is followed by the rest. This means in the upcoming halving the price movement of altcoins will take place based on the movement of bitcoin.

~snip~

I think the ATH for the coins you mentioned is only temporary, I have seen altcoins that started off very well but suddenly the price drops and the value is lost. Altcoins are very risky, they can make you a lot of money but they can also make you lose money in an instant. I don't have a good experience with altcoins because I often fail with altcoins, besides that altcoins are also prone to price manipulation by trading signal groups.

I don't hate altcoins but I need to be careful, I see altcoins also have potential but don't think about holding them for a long time, take the moment to make a profit and then leave. So far only Bitcoin has a stable value and perhaps the top 10 altcoins are still reliable

First, this isn't all about Bitcoin so you should move the thread where it is appropriate which is the Altcoin Discussion.

As we look forward to the anticipated bullrun come 2024
What I and most are thinking is that the bull run will come by 2025 but 2024 is a great starter of it. Until we see it, that's what finally is for the date of its arrival.

what altcoins are you holding and why do you think they will bring more returns compared to others?
Why should I say what I am holding? I'll just put it this way that I've got a few alts, the top alts but I am not thinking that I'll make more from them than of Bitcoin.

I am still believing that my returns will be greater with Bitcoin.

Why isn't it about Bitcoin's

the title is BTC vs altcoin's

So it is at least 50% BTC and since BTC is more than 50% of the market cap I think 54-56% it is mostly about btc.

Comparing Bitcoin with some new altcoins like that. Hmm, if it's for short gains, new altcoins are indeed a very promising field of profit. And indeed we found several new altcoins that experienced high pumps even during the bearish era, when Bitcoin's price was still falling. Meanwhile, the price of new altcoins, on the other hand, has skyrocketed so high that it can provide high profits in a short time.

but something is forgotten here. The increase in Bitcoin is not as high and significant as the new altcoins. However, the question is, can these new altcoins which have experienced a very significant increase maintain their prices and always exist in the market? not everyone can. In fact, most of them will pile up and then drop and become shit coins. Meanwhile, Bitcoin will continue to increase until it finally reaches a certain ATH point. and the Bitcoin cycle will return again. while altcoins that are unable to survive will become ashes. This means that if we lose the moment to take profits on these altcoins, on the new ones, then that means we might lose the moment and actually incur big losses. So, be careful with sharing types of hype coins like this if you can't take advantage of the right moment to take optimal profits.

Bitcoin vs Altcoins?
BTC or altcoin
Bitcoin vs. Altcoins

Those are some of the same threads with the same title, but with different descriptions. Cheesy

i thought i had seen this thread but it was only posted today every now and then someone compares btc against altcoins and can only think of this one title

Quote

There are no altcoins to hold right now just hold BTC for a long time or at least until the bullishness really comes, If you are asking about altcoins that give returns then I don't know about that.

btc and altcoins are different but definitely have a relationship with each other it’s hard to say which altcoins are promising since most of the time they don’t end up hitting expectations however altcoins are usually dependent on btc so just look at the market carefully and see which ones you should buy or sell

Bitcoin is King & most of the altcoins are absolute crap. Most altcoins have no utility, no future & no real world use case. Bitcoin is the only one that will last for the long term, Ethereum is potentially an OK buy but the rest of them are a total lottery. Why put your wealth in a centralised coin with so many points of failure. Bitcoin is the future of finance, we are going to the moon very soon.
While we continue to impose that bitcoin is the king and the most trusted cryptocurrency, still a lot of people end up trusting some altcoins wishing they could gamble on those coins and expect massive profits when these altcoins turn highly successful and productive when bull run comes. But that will only work to those who think investing is like gambling, that even if they disregard bitcoin, they will still make good rewards with those pump and dump altcoins.

Well, good luck to those who risk on altcoins more than bitcoin. In the end, bitcoin will still lead the market and makes the highest source of profits, and not sure by that time if altcoins will also follow the path of bitcoin. This really keeps confusing me why the hell people still trust altcoins when they can safely secure those profits just by sticking into bitcoin.

i guess, most of these traders who are into alts are mostly for short-term profits. to be honest, hard to find alts that you can hold for long term and at the same time gain from it.
the alts mentioned by the OP are actually not very familiar for most users, though they are being in the top 100 alts. i believe, he is holding those alts as well or has interest in those alts, hence, mentioning those in his post.

The cryptocurrency landscape is gradually taking a new turn and am loving it already. It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.
Where did you yet your data from? The last time I checked, Bitcoin dominance was even increasing, crossing 50%.  Maybe there is something that I'm missing in this regards. If you ask me, I will say that Bitcoin that Bitcoin is not losing its domineering power anytime soon irrespective of the hype of altcoins and some memecoins. The hype will fade away faster than they are gaining

TAO, KAS, BGB, TIA among other numerous altcoins are among those that have recorded ATH recently even as BTC struggle to hold up the $36,500 resistance.

Among other altcoins that have been impressive are ORDI, SATS, VMPX, WOJAK and PEPE1.
These are relatively new cryptos whose future are not guaranteed.  I think it is out of place to compare them with Bitcoin. Gives these coins time let's see if they will be what you are thinking.

As for me, Bitcoin is enough for me for long term hold.

Altcoins have their altcoin season but they can not survive in this market with one or two altcoin seasons. Since 2020, how many altcoin seasons we had but most of altcoins lost like 90% to 99% of their all time high prices. If you hold altcoins last few years, you are still in painful loss even altcoins are moving with a new altcoin season.

Where did you yet your data from? The last time I checked, Bitcoin dominance was even increasing, crossing 50%.
It increased a lot in bear market because as said altcoins lost 90% to 99% of their marketcap but Bitcoin only lose like half of its marketcap since its all time high in 2021.

Dominance is not too accurate because more altcoins will be created with time and those new altcoins will contribute to altcoin marketcap whist we always have only one Bitcoin.

The rate of new altcoins created by developers probably outpace the rate of altcoins die within a same time.

Altcoins are good and profitable for the few who understands them and, much more important, who know when to sell them.
On the long term most altcoins simply go down and a few better ones may remain profitable against dollar, but, by far, no match for Bitcoin.
This I can agree, especially the last part about knowing when to sell them, got a couple of useless alts in my wallet now, should've sold it when the going was good but I was greedy at that time and I just lied to myself that I am going to be fine just holding on to those altcoins because I believe that those peaks weren't their last peak and I have a pretty big bitcoin hoard which added to my careless behavior because I thought that I don't mind losing a lot in my side investments since I still have bitcoin and then the bear season happened. Never marry the bag again with altcoins, once the profit is there I will just grab it. With my own words, the only bag I'll marry will be bitcoin.

BIG WINNER!

I got $TIA from their airdrop but sold very early. Anyway,

As we look forward to the anticipated bullrun come 2024, what altcoins are you holding and why do you think they will bring more returns compared to others?

I hold $osmo,$ether, $hive, $arb. Osmo is central ibc coins exchange. Ether, I just have lots of faith in it, they have got solid foundation, these countless layer 2s popping up are merely giving more publicity to it, Vitalik is young fellow — Ethereum gonna get lot improved from his long presence. Hive, I like community there and it's feeless blockchain which I really appreciate. Arb, holding airdrop, it has highest TPS amongst layer 2s, I think arb gonna reach new heights, it's short term ath of $7 currently should easily be surpassed when it's time will come.

The cryptocurrency landscape is gradually taking a new turn and am loving it already. It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.

Fortunately there is an ongoing event for new users on Bitget where there is  $10,000 prize pool in the latest Hotcoins season 5 edition.

As we look forward to the anticipated bullrun come 2024, what altcoins are you holding and why do you think they will bring more returns compared to others?
You should probably move this thread to the altcoin section of the forum as it seems to be a better fit there, however I fail to see where you get this optimism about altcoins in general, bitcoin still has a dominance of almost 50%, and that is with the extremely dubious data regarding the market cap of many altcoins, so the dominance of bitcoin is even higher than that, and when we take into account the transactions that are actually made with the intention of exchanging value and not just the ones created with speculation purposes, then bitcoin should be even more dominant than that.

I also follow these altcoins on X and I agree with you that they are really making a difference in the market during this bear season. But the question is, are they promising long-term investments or is what is happening just temporary? And one day they will disappear without even informing you? By the way, what does the price increase of these altcoins have to do with the bitget exchange, are you someone paid by bitget to spam our forums? Are you a shiller?

It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.
You are mistaking on this, Bitcoin has never been a dictator, it works alongside other cryptocurrencies and there are times that Bitcoin would be the initiator of a massive move just as there are times it would be altcoins that would initiate it. Bitcoin is Bitcoin, it's just a leader in the industry.

For dominance, you can't take that from Bitcoin, it remains the number one cryptocurrency and will hold this position until only God knows when. Have you seen the current market cap of Bitcoin compared to altcoins? It's over $700B. By this, you should know straight enough that Bitcoin is still the number one voice in the crypto space, it doubles all of the cryptocurrencies' market cap combined.

So who is the boss here? It's not about doubling and tripling your investment but liquidity, security, privacy, reliability and trust, the crypto that allays fear in people that retail and institutional dealers appreciate.

Haha 😅
I don't think Bitcoin should be compared with alt coins. Bitcoin is the OG of the crypto space so if there be any important comparison I think it should be between alt coins only.
Altcoins are mainly suitable for trading not hodling.trading with altcoins also require experience and skills to avoid losses
Yes it is definitely not wise to compare Altcoins with Bitcoin. Whatever bitcoin is is a digit that you have no chance of having ricks if you hold on to it over time. But if you keep investing in altcoin, you can be in a big risk. In this case, if you don't sell the altcoin over time, then once the market goes down, then it is not possible to recover the altcoin market easily. Moreover, once the market crashes, one has to wait for a long time for the market to recover. So I won't compare Bitcoin with Altcoin for now.

Definitely true. We consider Bitcoins as the master coin. So it will be completely worthless to compare it with these small altcoins. Altcoins are developed by seeing the working and popularity of Bitcoins. So I don’t think these comparisons are justified. If you want to do safe investment then Bitcoins are the best. But if you want to make quick profits then trading the altcoins with high risk will help you.

Mate, I don't think you right going by your statement that the era of Bitcoin is winding down, do you mean people shifting from Bitcoin to altcoin, if that's what you mean, I think you are getting it all wrong, you can never compare altcoin and shitcoin to bitcoin, if I may ask how did you get your findings, with what we have at hand, I think bitcoin remains unbeatable, if am to invest over and over again I will continue to choose bitcoin, OP, do you know that people chose altcoin because of the existence of bitcoin, there are still people that doesn't believe in altcoin, I want you to understand that the value and profit potentials of bitcoin can not be compared with that of altcoin, try to make your versed findings before bring anything to the public notice.

1.Please move this thread to the Altcoin discussion forum, if you really want to discuss altcoins.
2.Altcoins hitting an ATH when Bitcoin has a short term price pump? I've seen this before and it's not uncommon. You must a be a total crypto noob, if you have never witnessed altcoins hitting ATH when BTC is having a bull run. This correlation only proves that altcoins depend on Bitcoin and they are just an addition to Bitcoin. They can't compete against BTC, they just follow the BTC trend. I guess that the stablecoins are the only altcoins that increase their trading volume when BTC is going down. The problem is that the stablecoin prices are fixed and can't go up. Grin

Opinions on Bitcoin vs Altcoins can change over time. Still, I believe that altcoins had their best shot in 2017 when it really seemed like Bitcoin dominance was gradually going down and when there was a lot of optimism regarding all the cool things that can adopt blockchain and monetize various projects. But then came a long and huge bear market, which made Bitcoin way stronger and from which Bitcoin eventually recovered, but many of the altcoins did not. Now, 6 years later, BTC market dominance is higher than in 2017, and I don't think it will change anytime soon. Altcoins didn't fulfil their promises, disappointed people who believed in those projects. Bitcoin doesn't disappoint.
