I felt that this team needs someone like Pujara. He should be called, not sure why he was not selected. Is he also injured?

He isn't injured, but he hadn't been selected into any test matches by team management after WTC also he expressed the frustration about not being selected for the test series which points that probably team management is intentionally avoiding him and there are many experts reported that this could be the end of his career.

He is one of the few players all around the world who only play in Test matches and he isn't great in the last couple of years but he always put a break if wicket falls initially and that is what really needed to be the test player, just consume 50 balls and score only 1 run still nobody cares while the evolution of cricket demand fast and stylish players so we winded up for 131 in the last inning.

I don't see any reason for not selecting Pujara into the test team. He and Rahane are the only batters who can stand against the pace and unsettled bounce of the South African bowlers. Both are of 35 years of age and are fit to play test cricket. I was reading an article on one of the prominent media house website and found that the selectors are looking for new beginning. If the selectors are trying to find a new player then they have failed miserably.

Rahane is a failure for me in test cricket in the revet time. After watching what pujara accomplished in his last test match, it is evident the selectors are ignoring him. Let's wait an watch before coming out with a conclusion. The selectors would comeback with a replacement if they come up with a solution.

He didn't deliver the performances up to the expectation and Rahane is inconsistent but he is good batsmen technically so he can succeed in SENA countries, well if the team is looking for new beginning then its good but selecting players based on T20 and ODI format isn't the right criteria, they need to alter their criteria and give importance for Ranji performances too and in my opinion Hanuma Vihari is the choice if they are looking for a replacement for Pujara.

The selection process in Indian cricket team is now based on IPL. If a player plays well in IPL then he has a good chance of getting into the A team. The second and final test match between South Africa and India has started. South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first, which now looks like a wrong decision again made by them. They have lost 9 wickets and have only 51 runs on the board. A 6 wicket haul by MD Shiraj got them into this situation which is pretty bad considering they won convincingly the first match. Bhumrah took 2 wickets and Mukesh Kumar took 1, this match is going to be super interesting from the Indian point of view.

Woa! SA 55 all-out. I expected low score today because SA lost early wickets, and they do worse whenever that happens, but didn't expect them to get done at 55. India literally bossed SA after losing first test.

Indian inning has started and Jaiswal gone for duck, 4 failed innings back to back. Selectors should recognize the skills of batters in each format and accordingly have them play.

The bottom 3 are bowlers, cannot expect them to bat on a pitch where big batters are struggling. I expect some runs from Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bhumrah but both of them fail to score any runs. KL Rahul tried his level best to stay on the pitch, he faced 33 balls but could only score 8 runs. The batting was not good because the pitch had an uneven bounce that suited pace bowling. India started well, Shiraj has not taken any wickets so expecting him to claim some today. I feel that the match will be over on day 2 as there is nothing left on the pitch for batters.

Pitch played a part, but it's not the entire reason why 23 wickets fell in just one day, its happened because of the disciplined bowling attack and which length to bowl for a test match.

And if you watched it closely, then you can observe that batting approach was not up to the mark for test match they're just concentrating on playing the ball, but the beauty is in leaving and defending the ball right?

Siraj might be prone to get injured after the extended spell he bowled on the day 1, so the team don't really want to take the risk when Bumrah was doing the same in the second innings with really good support by Mukesh.

India has lot of players, many aspiring to play for the county, they can hire different ones for each format. Not like BCCI has lose pockets either.

It seems team management try to get rid of Pujara who is the only test player for the international team and trying to replace him with Iyer and Gill? IPL stars can perform in subcontinent pitches but they need players like Pujara to wear and tear the opposition bowlers in SENA countries then the match will go for the day 4 and 5 or else the test matches will end like these.

India VS Afghanistan 3 match T20 series will start from the 11th of this month. There is a lot of speculation on who will be captaining the team. Rohit Sharma's name is on the top and it is because SKY is injured and Hardik is also not fit. If Rohit Sharma becomes the captain then he will want Virat to be part of the team. Whereas selectors are not happy with the way Virat plays in T20 cricket as he is slow. He is suited for ODI and test cricket as per my understanding. What do you guys think will happen? Will Virat Kohli be part of the T20 team that is captained by Rohit Sharma?

^ Ofc Virat will be part of the team, his name is too huge to be ignored, even if someone else was captaining the team, Virat would have made it. Although, I feel there is probability that he might give up his spot for someone else since stakes aren't that huge here.

From POV of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan's absence will be obvious in their squad, he always takes wickets especially in T20s and can bat well.
