There are new guidelines from BCCI for Indian players.

Some key points:

1) Players expected to travel alongside teammates instead of them having separate travel provisions with family.

2) Players must stay for entire duration of practice sessions.

3) Players are restricted from personal photoshoots during tour while are required to be available for BCCI's promotional activities.

4) All players are required to stay with team until the scheduled end of tour.

Lmao Baggage policy? Do players need such a reminder? It should be basic sense and who the f*ck exceeds the 150kg limit, considering cricketing kit with all extra bats etc never goes beyond 50 kg.

This recent meeting was supposed to be a postmortem for recent home series and BGT fuckups but here they are doing a circle jerking because they can't raise fingers on big dogs like PR Sharma and Virat.

PR managers going with players is disturbing tho and seriously need a firm hand for that.

PR managers going with players is disturbing tho and seriously need a firm hand for that.
PR teams often charge significant amounts to reshape public perception following failures. Take, for example, the efforts of Kohli's PR team, which has been actively working to highlight his positive traits after his recent visit to a well-known Hindu preacher. This is typical of what PR teams do, and they use various strategies, including promotional videos, to mitigate negative sentiment. Through such efforts, it seems, they have successfully reduced a substantial amount of the criticism surrounding Kohli's performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

He is still regarded as one of the best captains in the history of Indian Test cricket. His PR team has recently begun promoting him again as he has chosen to play in domestic cricket and comparing him with Sachin. However, it seems unlikely that he will be able to break the records that were previously predicted, especially when compared to the God of cricket.

I don't really like spiritual garbage Kohli has been doing lately. Is it due to Anushka? Or is it really PR. I am not sure? The way he kept getting out in BGT, he needs practice, not spirituality.

I just read on X, Kohli won't be playing domestic cricket (along with KL).

I mean I can understand, if you are as big figure as Kohli, why would you lower yourself down to play domestic.

It is Anushka who has got him into spirituality and also convinced him to leave Mumbai (shifting base to London). I remember that their was an interview of him before marriage wherein he publically stated that he was an atheist and believed in himself than god.

That is where he has gotten himself wrong along with KL. There may be many reasons why these guys avoid playing in domestic cricket but one thing is sure they have a busy schedule in a year due to IPL. I saw many clips circulating on different social media feeds where they showed Sachin at the age of 40 playing domestic cricket to get into the form before playing test cricket. Those were different days as for now players like him are more concentrated in IPL than any other cricket format.

Couple of days back BCCI announced the squad champions trophy:

Let's see the team combination and is this team good enough to come up with a trophy.

Lot of people expressed anger towards making Gill as VC which is questionable and kind of implying that he is going to be the preferred opener over the inform batter Jaiswal, why Gill is given special treatment when he is not in great form. Roll Eyes

Middle order is decent so there's no concern there but why again 4 spinners in the squad, last time in WC too they gone with same combination and didn't use chahal. The main thing is we only got 3 frontline fast bowlers - Shami and Bumrah is coming from injury so we can't sure about their fitness towards the tournament so if something happens then we will be in danger.

Handing over T-20 captaincy and ODI VC to SKY and Gill respectively seems like a cutting Hardik to size. Mind you, Hardik was VC in winning the T-20 WC campaign and for some reason, SKY got the captaincy. Gill has impressive numbers in the ODI so I have no problem with him in the opening slot but becoming VC, oh well something else is going on here.

I thought the same about the lack of a seam bowling option but at the same time, assumed that it's because our fixtures are in UAE and not SENA.

^^ Gill should go one down as he does in tests and Jaiswal should open with Rohit. Guy has been consistent performer and It would be disadvantageous for the team if he stays out.

Also, I guess they would do experiments in ODI series against England since squad is same as CT (minus Harshit Rana) and figure out the playing XI there.

Also, it looks like Virat has confirmed his participation in Ranji.

Why would you send Gill down when he's doing a good job as an opener? So far, he hasn't put a wrong foot in ODI so there is no need for any fix at the top. A natural transition will follow once Rohit goes (Hope, soon) and Jaiswal will get his deserving debut in the ODI.

Can't trust any breaking news these days so I'll believe it when I see him play for Delhi lol  Grin

It was more like I want Jaiswal desperately in the team, so suggested may be Gill can step down in order to make room for him. Regarding Jaiswal's ODI debut, pretty sure it'll happen in England series.

Seems like players are not happy with the new BCI guidelines especially the one separating their family while travelling.  Cheesy

But it's brave call from the management which is needed to have discipline among the group which is really important to get the best out of dressing room environment.

BTW, we have the first T20 of England's India tour tomorrow.

Are we going to witness 250+ scores...

I didn't check the squad, so I don't know about the backup players, but I assume that Jaiswal is in the backup opening slot. Which England series? He's not in the 15 men's squad for the current one.

IMO it's a boomer call (Family on tours), although I agree that family shouldn't be allowed for complete 2-3 months but at the same time family is important and a 15-20 days timeline shouldn't be a discussion point.

Both teams are stacked up with gun battling line up and they bat deep as low as number 8 so it should be a big scoring game and the ground is small as well. Dew could play some part in the second inning though.

Also, it looks like Virat has confirmed his participation in Ranji.

I guess it is better to wait and see whether he is playing as media speculation is always annoying.

It looks like Ajit Agarkar has stooped down under the pressure of a franchise which we all know which one. I am too disappointed to see this guy who has been out of form has been given a big responsibility in an ICC tournament.

Seems like players are not happy with the new BCI guidelines especially the one separating their family while travelling.  Cheesy

I do not think BCCI is serious about this new law as they have not officially announced it. I did check the official X.com account, I might have missed the tweet.

Why would you send Gill down when he's doing a good job as an opener? So far, he hasn't put a wrong foot in ODI so there is no need for any fix at the top. A natural transition will follow once Rohit goes (Hope, soon) and Jaiswal will get his deserving debut in the ODI.
It was more like I want Jaiswal desperately in the team, so suggested may be Gill can step down in order to make room for him. Regarding Jaiswal's ODI debut, pretty sure it'll happen in England series.
I didn't check the squad, so I don't know about the backup players, but I assume that Jaiswal is in the backup opening slot. Which England series? He's not in the 15 men's squad for the current one.

Jaiswal isn't in for T20 series, but he's in for ODI series that's starting soon after conclusion of current T20 series.

...BTW, we have the first T20 of England's India tour tomorrow.

Are we going to witness 250+ scores...
...Both teams are stacked up with gun battling line up and they bat deep as low as number 8 so it should be a big scoring game and the ground is small as well. Dew could play some part in the second inning though.

I have been wanting India to breach 300 runs in T20I for a while know, hopefully it happens in this series. If Sanju retains form, shouldn't be of much trouble.

Seems like players are not happy with the new BCI guidelines especially the one separating their family while travelling.  Cheesy
I do not think BCCI is serious about this new law as they have not officially announced it. I did check the official X.com account, I might have missed the tweet.

It was covered by reputed cricket media such as espncricinfo, so I assume it's valid.

India started the series with a crusher, looks England beaten in both batting as well as bowling. What's interesting is the team combination one pace attack supported by all rounder Hardik which worked for now but they really need to build the core for 2026 T20 WC which is scheduled in India so I believe the team must have 2 proper pace attack along with Hardik that is the best combination in terms of balance.

Good to see the mystery spin in action.

It was a one-sided game where India were dominant from the first ball. Hardeep Singh looked good, but Hardik Pandya gave more runs in his first spell. The selectors will find another good pacer before the 2026 WC, it is very early to think about it now. I did like the strategy the SKY implemented in the first session where he rotated the bowlers correctly. Not to forget we saw some good catches by the Indian team yesterday which shows they have been working hard on their fielding.

Pandaya will never be good enough to fill in the second pacer spot because his job is to control the flow in the middle overs and he is being excellent in this format but with new ball I doubt he can make any impact at all. I am trying to say they have to build the confidence among the group as soon as possible. The should have played Shami in the place of Nithish Reddy who didn't contribute much because the situation didn't needed an extra bowler nor the batter at deep.

I do agree that Pandya is not good enough to fill the space for the second pacer. But, remember we still have Bhumrah, Shiraz, and a few new guys who can fill the second spot. It is just that India has a lot of talent pool and someone from that pool will be part of the team as backup next year in the WC. I still did not understand why Nitish Reddy did not get an opportunity to bowl yesterday, he could have been used to replace Hardik but he was not. The captain and the coach are more aware of the condition and accordingly, they make the choice.

Many national players dived back into the Ranji setup. The pitches of all matches seem to be spicy as fuck so it might have played some part but that's a challenge in test cricket and the results were discouraging.

Rohit- 3
Pant -1
Gill-4
Shreyas-11
Jaiswal- 4

PS: For Delhi Pant was there but no Virat. Let's see if he makes himself available for the next match. Jadeja also played for Saurashtra and did well.

Or they forgot how to play after being in the spot light for very long. Cheesy let's just hope the team for test cricket will be based on the first class performances not based on IPL.

BTW, we got second T20I coming up tomorrow in Chepauk, if England failed in Kolkata do they even have a chance coming at Chepauk?

And I really want to see the comeback of Shami in this match.

Not worry about the future of our team because the new guys are good and hungry. Likes of Pant, Gill and Jaiswal are fine as well.

From the selector and fan's perspectives, the focus was on the Mumbai team and more precisely Rohit because of his antics. Meanwhile, Lord Thakur was the shining star for Mumbai and the dude scored a 50 and a ton in 2 innings. Mumbai still lost the match but guess what Opeds were praising Rohit for his 30-ish run inning in the 2nd inning lol. Tells you about the narrative.
