Yes, retirement is doing something you want to do. It's been years now since I stopped doing the 8-5 daily office cycle. I missed it somehow and I might take another 8-5 if it's I am very interested, like traveling and maybe teaching history or social studies.

However, my main goal is to have a stable business that is inclined to my hobbies and interests. The difference though when having a business is there are risks like losing money and failing to profit. While having an interesting job in a company is financially risk-free.

When someone is still actively working and he can make good use of his money then when retirement arrives his life will definitely be much better and he won't have to work as hard anymore. You must have prepared yourself thoroughly when you decided to stop working 8-5 every day and the goal of stopping was accompanied by another desire to develop your potential in business. I am also a small business owner selling clothing and the life I live is much more independent than working under someone else's system.

There will definitely be risks when we intend to develop a business just like we invest in bitcoin. But speaking of freedom, developing skills and time are efforts that we organize ourselves so that work will be much more productive. Working in the government and corporate sectors is regulated by their system even though the level of risk is small, but talking about freedom and hobbies we will have a little difficulty developing them.

I feel like even if you like your job, you'd still want to retire at some point. Cause you would still want to take a rest especially if you're getting old. And you will also want to enjoy the remaining time you have before your body cannot do that anymore. Unless it's your own business that you need to keep running because it becomes your life. However, for regular employees or worker, even if they enjoy their job, I think they will still choose enjoying their personal life than just continue being at work.

Though I know someone who already reached her retirement age few years ago but still choose to keep working. Tho her situation is kinda different. She doesn't have any child, her husband already died, her relatives live separately and if she stopped working, she'll have nothing else to do living in her own house alone.

If I understand what the OP said, there are actually two kinds of desires that are born from different people. The first is people who want to retire before the time comes and the second is people who have to retire when the time comes even though according to their wishes the person still doesn't want to retire. But because time has forced these people to retire, there is no other choice but to follow existing rules and such people will usually continue to work at what they like even though they are no longer tied to any agency in their lives.

I can't help but wonder how a person can work all his life on a job that they don't like, so what I believe is that a person who retires most likely likes their job which is the reason why they have given so many years of their lives in providing their service to that job, thus, they will try to find ways after retirement to try still and live the same life that they used to live when it comes to work because it's not easy for them to let go of their passion after so many years.

I know this is what the world is and how it works but don't you realize how fucked up the concept of it is? You literally have to kill yourself by working for years/decades on end, and the only recompense you get for doing so is a pat on the back and a hallway pass for you to be able to enjoy your last remaining years on life. I don't know about you but I don't want to retire like that my dude. Retirement for me is being able to make the most out of my life and my time without having to worry about my finances at all, and I think you could achieve that with fair ease if you happen to know about financial freedom and are able to integrate it in your life.

Make no mistake, I like the idea of having no worries in your sunset years, but you could also do that with no problem if you shoot for an early retirement plan.

A person can get retirement only at the age which government mentioned in the rules of a specified job. I think the age after 60 is the age which is for rest so if someone is active enough after 60 years then they can do another job because after retirement its up to a person desire that what they wish to do.

You still have to do something after retirement, do you know that you will get bored at one point? Every challenges in our lives are most times adventurous and this is why it's bad to do something you don't have passion for, if you are doing a job for money only you will hate the job easily.

My own retirement plan is to reduce my stress on money making and go the easier route using my money to make more money, also I would have grow older by the time too, it's already normal to reduce stress and enjoy the rest of my days.

Having a favorite job and a job that makes money always forces us to choose. Pension will indeed be quite a complex topic to discuss. Because there are so many topics that need to be discussed regarding retirement. In fact, the term retirement now doesn't just mean old people who have to stop working because they have reached retirement age. But nowadays it has become quite a trend in society, especially among young people who have planned their lives so that they can retire while they are still young. And usually these young people mean the term that we actually usually call financial freedom. Because to be able to retire at a young age, of course someone must really have thorough financial preparation. Like having enough savings to last a lifetime or having passive income that continues to flow even though we have stopped working. Usually by investing or by owning a company that is managed by people we trust.

Sadly, currently there are many parents who have reached retirement age but they cannot stop working yet. Because they still need money to meet their needs. So they are forced to continue working even though their energy is starting to weaken because they are no longer young.
