Someone owed me money and he wanted to pay me in Bitcoin.
So I gave him my Bitcoin wallet address and he transferred the funds.
It's now complete.
But can he now withdraw the money since he has my bitcoin wallet address?

Have not come across any news regarding someone taking another person's Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency with the public address. The only one I have came across or let's say I know very well is when you give our your private key, or let's say you mistakenly input your private key 🔐 some where for security purposes not knowing you are exposing it to Hackers. This is the only one I know that you money can be taken.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Laziness, ignorance etc., finding a reason for some things people sell is too much for my taste.
Most of the people who buy a forum account already know one or two things about the forum, i say so because they are buying the account so they can use it to participate in signature campaigns, so they are not really ignorant and won't buy a newbie account with zero merits. They cannot also be so lazy to understand that they can create a new account for themselves if they want to start from scratch, rather than buying a newbie account with no merit.
Yes I agree with you, people who buy accounts have understanding of the forum , the reason for them buying accounts is for the merit. A total strangers that has no Idea about the forum can not just buy account in the forum. People buy  account for good reason for them that will benefit them in the forum, these are people who already have information and knows the forum very well.

I want to ask you that did you gave him your wallet private key or only the public address? It's a very easy thing that How can he withdraw btc from your wallet if he doesn't have access to your wallet. Already, many people have given the answer, but I am still saying that once the confirmation of the Bitcoin transaction is done, you can never withdraw money from that wallet until you know the private key.

OP never mentioned anything about giving his private key to anyone, even on his other thread on Bitcoin Technical Support board, he didn't mention anything about it giving any private key to anyone.

@OP After reading your post history, I really suggest that you avoid trading bots or if you insist on using them, at least be cautious about it.

@OP that is a good payment term to you if you are also interested in investing in Bitcoin. As everyone have already told you.

That guy will not have anyway of getting or accessing your bitcoin because he doesn't own the private keys.

Now, your job is to keep the private keys and never show it to anyone. If you ever have saved it before making that wallet, do not save it on emails or any other cloud storages.

No one else can withdraw money from your wallet without your help. He doesn't have the ability to withdraw money from your wallet unless you help him. You are completely worry free as no one can withdraw money from your address even though your address is visible to everyone. I tell you for example we work on signature campaigns we get paid weekly if someone could transfer my dollars everyone would take out. But keep your wallet seed phrase very safe so that no one can steal it. You are completely worry free if no one can steal the wallet's seed phrase.

If the transaction is complete and you have received the Bitcoin in your wallet then he can't withdraw the Bitcoin from your account. If that person asks you for your seed phrase or private key then never share those details with him or anyone else because he or anyone else will only be able to withdraw that Bitcoin from your wallet if they have the seed phrase and private key of your wallet otherwise they it's transferable by anyone other then you. I think you got enough answers on your thread and that's why it's better to lock this thread now.

It's now complete.
If complete means the transaction has a confirmation or some confirmations, it won't be reversed.

He can not because you only gave him your public address. That sender does not have your private key so "not his keys, not his coins".

Of course not my brother, to open access to Bitcoin you need a PC that has been given to you, hopefully you keep it in a safe place, unless you give the private key to him, he can access it and take your money. Unless you create a Bitcoin address from a scammer's website, there have been several cases where my friends have been tricked using the Bitcoin transfer method, indeed the Bitcoins came in, but on a website somewhere in the middle of nowhere. When you want to withdraw Bitcoin, the website asks for a certain amount of Bitcoin for verification or a fee, so that's how my friend was fooled. Hopefully this doesn't happen in your case.

It is not possible mate since you are the owner of the wallet and let's just say that your wallet is non-custodial wallet as it is the most recommended wallet compared to custodial wallets. I think you might heard or read somewhere about this phrase "NOT YOUR KEYS, NOT YOUR COIN" which is true. Anyway, that person won't be able to access the wallet unless you told him about your seed phrase or mnemonic phrase which is used to access the account. There are two things that you should know, public address is what you will use to receive payment or when you are paying someone and the seed phrase is what you shouldn't share to any or private in short. Take note, only those who has access to the wallet are the only one who can withdraw BTC from the wallet unless someone have access of your wallet either you shared it (which is not recommended or the wallet is compromised through hacking/phishing).

OP is not someone so ignorant about how Cryptocurrency works I checked his post-history, and he registered on June 2023

And he had a post like this

I'm definitely not trying to sell anything. I just don't know, in reality, if a trading bot can make 5% a week on your investment. When a person watches Youtube cryptocurrency about trading bots, they make it sound like it's true. I didn't know a person could hijack a Youtuber. I guess I was hoping a professional could take a look at it and tell me if I'm being scammed. Because I was able to withdraw $10,000 back to my bank. If they were scammers, would they let me do that?

It very much contradicts his post here, he is not someone who just got into Cryptocurrency yesterday and posted this because he doesn't know anything about Cryptocurrency, he seems good at making up stories, his post history will always betray him.

That's a good catch though. So don't know the motive of the OP if his question is just to post or he has that kind of doubt?
Anyway, he will already get a lot of insights about the answers to his question just by reading the replies from other users.
This is also one good thing in this technology, if you are not very familiar how it works, you will feel lost in the process.

With your wallet address, no one can withdraw money from your wallet. The only way a person can withdraw money from your wallet if you are using an exchange is when the person has the mobile number or gmail that you used to register on the exchange and the password to the exchange. If you are using a non-custodial wallet, then until the person has access to your private key before they can make a withdrawal from your wallet, that’s why we are supposed to properly secure our private key so that no one will be able to access it. But with your wallet's private key properly secured, your bitcoin is safe.

Not Your Keys, Not Your Bitcoin

Someone owed me money and he wanted to pay me in Bitcoin.
So I gave him my Bitcoin wallet address and he transferred the funds.
It's now complete.
But can he now withdraw the money since he has my bitcoin wallet address?

A wallet address is nothing without the private keys and also an empty wallet is nothing special even with the private keys if there is nothing locked on the public address. You have received the bitcoin in your wallet address, once you have seen a 6 confirmation on the blockchain, then rest assured that the transaction is not reversible and it will remain like that on your wallet until when you are ready to spend it, and please don't ever share your private keys with anybody or even the seed phrase because they will become a threat the moment you exposed it.

I hope you are also using a custodial wallet where you completely have access to the private keys, not doing that is not a safe practice. Make sure that your bitcoin is in your personal wallet where only you can have access to it, no third party, no custodial platforms because not your keys, not your bitcoin.

Great to have a buddy that returns what's due Smiley

But unfortunately if you are dealing with a person with the technical know how  of crypto, worst case scenario here is when he/she sends the coins and acknowledge receiving your payment , then the worst they can do is double spend to try and not get those coins to you otherwise get the coins forcefully from your wallet is in possible..unless they have access to your private key(s)..

Otherwise nothing to worry about buddy, enjoy your coins and remember not your keys, not your coins!

What you're asking about is part of the basics and beginnings of the Bitcoin field. This question suggests that your experience in this field may be limited. I advise you to gain the necessary expertise and knowledge because, with this minimal experience, you could become an easy target for scammers.

Don't worry; no one can withdraw money from your Bitcoin wallet; you provide this public address for him to send money to you. However, please do not make the mistake of giving them your private key or recovery phrases. I recommend avoiding any transactions or involvement in deals until you familiarize yourself with the basics, such as types of wallets, common scams, and protective measures. Use the search button above to find topics that will help you.

A really funny question there , well since there's nothing wrong in actually asking a question I think the answer already given to you by other members would have cleared you on this particular thought, although am just curious if this was actually to be true, lots of people would have lost seriously lost their Bitcoin because someone address is just like your bank account number and just try to imagine what would have been the outcome if people can actually take your money by just knowing your account number?.

No, he can't have access to your Bitcoin wallet just with your Bitcoin address since your Bitcoin address is a public address that you can send to anyone to receive Bitcoin through it, but anyone with your wallet private keys/wallet phrase will have full access and control over your wallet, you need to know the difference between both and know how to use and prevent yourself from every possible security risks.

If you are worried if he can touch your balance then don't get stressed with it as long as he didn't have your private key or account password and 2FA since he can't withdraw the funds he sent to you. You are the one who can withdraw that so chill out and if you think its time to take that money out of your wallet since you are been stress because you don't know what to do or other factors give you headache much better to withdraw it then exchange to fiat so that you will live comfortably and then just grab new balance to spend on online thing once you learn a lot of things about bitcoin.

No, that money can’t be withdrawn, having your bitcoin wallet address does not mean they have access to your account. Only when you give out your private keys or seed phrase will the sender have access to your wallet. That is why it is necessary to keep what is private a private entity to your self and not disclose to anyone or the public. The seed phrase functions the same as the private key of the wallet.
