I don't remember it's name. It might have had "monkey" in its name. [...] I emailed them when it happened but they didn't get back to me.
[...]
Let's start from trying to narrowing down the mixer, shall we? Though you don't remember their name, you've emailed them, you should be able to dig their name from your outbox. Can you do that? If someone is using a mixer then they are privacy oriented, and thus would take other precautionary measures to maintain their privacy...one time dedicated email...Tails...etc. Everything was one time and I can't remember them (not that I've memorized them to begin with). I could go through my Linux Live USB and dig up the wallet I used to send the coins and try to trace them through their address (if its even possible) but that's work I'm not willing to put in for $7. If a lawyer contacted me for potential lawsuit however... So yeah, I didn't post this expecting a resolution, but merely out of contempt when i remembered them (when I saw the mixer ad) while trying to ask about the efficacy of mixers Err... if you use everything single time [which, understandable], how did you plan to get notified by them? I assume you hold that address for few days to wait for their response and got nothing? Correct. One time = that time. And that time no longer is. First of all, I believe it's not "monkey", but rather "money", like whirlwind.money? Umm, no that's not it. I'm not %100 sure there is monkey in their name, but somehow my brain is saying there was. do you mind checking this thread and give the opening post a read? See if it ring any bell? Weird. No bells ringing . I don't think it's listed there. I appreciate your detective initiative btw. Honestly not expecting it to go anywhere. I guess the best I expected was to gain some insight from others who've had similar experiences.

Mixers have minimum amount of coins that they can mix. If you do not send up to that minimum amount for mixing, it would be considered as donation.
The minimum deposit can be 0.002 BTC.
Let us know the amount of the coin that you sent for mixing, and the name of the mixer.
Fair! But the question and point is...WHY WAS THIS NOT CLEARLY STATED BEFOREHAND?! it's not a given like beef is to burgers. Have a look at my comment above to Cantsay. It was $7. 2016 years ago when coin was worth 1 k or 2021 when coin was worth 69 k saying it was 7 at the time is not a big help

Question to you... Let's assume that is true and that it was indeed in the FAQ. My question, to you, is... such vital piece of info, why put it there and not clearly on the page of purchase?
Would it be better if it was more noticeable? Of course it would. With that being said, if that happened to me, first and foremost I would blame myself for not checking everything thoroughly and seeing it as a lesson, instead claiming that they "stole my coins".

Seems to me that you have a horse in this race. Definitely doesn't seem to be coming from a perspective of someone from my side of the counter.

It would be better if you pointed out the mixer that “scammed” you. Without that, there is no way of establishing whether the minimum required deposit amount banner or warning was visible or not. I mean, if you were not even keen enough to recall the mixer you used, then there is a high probability you ignored the required minimum warning or worse, you use a phishing site.
Most of the mixers I know here have that minimum warning right before you send your Bitcoins.

Trust me, I read through all the replies before I posted My point is, how is this a valid accusation if we don't even know the name of the service you are talking about? You didn't even download any letter of guarantee that could have been generated right before you sent your coins?

But the question is, how do we know you're telling the truth if you can't even remember the name of the mixer? Maybe you also forgot their terms or didn't even read them before using the service? Try to remember which mixer it was. Have a look at my comment above to Cantsay. It was $7.
That's not important. It could have been $70, or even $700; that's irrelevant. What matters is the minimum amount specified in their terms

And here comes another one. There is zero evidence provided by the OP except his word. He claims he cannot remember the name of the mixer yet "monkey" could be part of it. If there is no evidence there is no scam accusation, it is that simple. Also, by the way the OP is responding to questions from members it shows he is yet another newbie who clearly is not a newbie and has nothing better to do with his time than create threads to pretend he is new to the forum. But the question is, how do we know you're telling the truth if you can't even remember the name of the mixer? Maybe you also forgot their terms or didn't even read them before using the service? Try to remember which mixer it was.

I emailed them when it happened but they didn't get back to me.
so you emailed them? wouldn't their email address have the name of their mixer? from what I have noticed, all mixer's email addresses that receive complaints, inquiries, etc... usually contain the name of the mixer's name, if you sent them an email I am almost certain you can find out the name of the mixer that you supposedly used last year.

I don't remember it's name. It might have had "monkey" in its name. It's not the one being advertised now (or maybe it still is but it is not appearing to me). I'm sure there aren't hundreds of mixers that advertised here so if you or anyone can list the ones that advertised here, I am certain seeing the name again would ring a bell. This was last year. The amount they took was $7 worth at the time. I remember I was going make a post at the time but was procrastinating because of the effort I had to put in into making a thorough post (because I was really pissed at the time and I wanted to make a really good post) but obviously I never got to it. I emailed them when it happened but they didn't get back to me.
Right now I was looking into using a mixer again and while posting my last post I realized there is another mixer being advertised here. I was going to make a post titled "Are mixers %100 effective?"...my footnote of this post...but then my previous experience came back to me so the title and post changed.
I'm also certain I am not the only one this happened to so I guess the purpose of this post is just to put it out there and see what others experiences were, if they manages to get their money back, how, what happened to that site...etc.
Every mixer has a minimum and if you send less than that it is treated as a donation. Even at Bitcoin's lowest price in the past year, $7 would have at max gotten you around 0.00043 BTC which is well below the minimum required by every mixer that is well known in the forum. That's not even enough to cover the fees at most mixers. You should have read their terms carefully.

[...] Honestly not expecting it to go anywhere. I guess the best I expected was to gain some insight from others who've had similar experiences.
Hmm... so this is what we get so far, the mixer was around about last year, you were made aware about them from the signature campaign they had, most likely not WW.money, although they probably has "monkey" or something alike in their name, you wanted to test their efficacy because you trusted this forum's reputation and thought every campaign here were vetted [they're not]. This is new account, and given you show cluelessness [not knowing what a signature campaign called, not familiar with the mixer] I'll boldly assume this is your only account and you're reading on guest mode this far, or at least that's the impression being casted here. Now, you're someone that seemingly know what to do, given you took precaution with disposable email prior to emailing them, tails, etc. and I assume that 7 USD was meant to be a test-send, because I don't think someone will bother themselves with a concern of privacy and look for a way to mix their token for 7 USD, so yeah, most likely 7 USD in this story is for a test send. Yet, it's quite out of character is it not, for someone who made so many step, know what to do prior to mix [those whole tails, etc.] to not being aware that 7 USD is considerably low to be mixed? Or to look for the minimum requirement? Or that have not even the slightest idea of the platform they will use, thus barely remember the name? The very same platform that managed to raise so much fury in him [for 7 USD, nonetheless] that he wanted to make a thorough post about them, but unfortunately can't do so because he procrastinate it.

Anywhere on their site?? If it is a fine print hidden somewhere, or in their terms and conditions or policy of 50 pages instead of boldly in front of you when you are paying, would that be a "hey! Its your fault. They told you"...?
I remember...a) not seeing it and b) actively looking for it after paying thinking stupid me didn't notice but still not seeing it. And no, I did not comb through their site and terms and conditions to search or any indications that I would be had. I expected a legit business to make sure to make such things clear from the git go. The only reason you wouldn't is to scam people in some shape or form and to some extent.
We need to try to establish what site it is first. Was it one of the mixers on this list? https://bitmixlist.comWas it ChipMixer? (Web Archive link) It was last year so it is possible you may have visited that site then.

Hmm... so this is what we get so far The OP is a fantasist, the incident in question is something he decided to post about after making up the whole story. If you thoroughly through all of his replies you will see that he has been completely evasive about providing any evidence. Somehow, he cannot state the URL or website name, he cannot provide proof from the blockchain and he will continue to post nonsense here. Anywhere on their site?? If it is a fine print hidden somewhere, or in their terms and conditions or policy of 50 pages instead of boldly in front of you when you are paying, would that be a "hey! Its your fault. Do you mean ][banned mixer]? It's the only mixer you can describe. They had a campaign of signatures and stopped advertising. The minimum limit for this mixer is 0.003 BTC, which is equal to $125.71 at current prices. It is a little high. I tried to mix and there is actually no warning about the minimum. Have you downloaded the letter of guarantee? use them ANN topic to ask them about your money, they may refund you https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5457664.0 or at least add warning massage. https://[banned mixer]/#faq

The FAQ has very clear instructions on what the minimum amount is and the OP should have just read it - but these new generations think reading is a waste of time and then accuse someone of scamming them out of the entire $7 In addition, why would someone want to mix such a small amount - especially if we take into account that these days, in some moments, the fee for confirmation in the next block amounts to more than that amount. In other words, to refund such a small amount would mean that the mixer has to pay out of his own pocket because someone failed to read the FAQ. What amounts do you accept for cleaning? The minimum amount to clear is 0.003 BTC, the maximum is 50 BTC. If you need to clear a large amount, you can do it in several transactions, or contact the operator directly, we will definitely find a solution.
