I was just introduced to this currency by my good friend Tyrone from about a week ago, he gave me the birthday present and said something about good acid but I am not interested in drugs so I do not think I will be spending the bitcoin that way but I am still interested in other opportunites of bitcoin currency!

I am just getting started.  I spent a ton of time trying to get free bitcoins, got my balance up to .0022 btc.  Then I asked for some help on this forum, and now my balance is at .0322 btc, which is really awesome.

I really want just a bit to play with and to test out some programming, so .03 is enough to do that.

I still can't figure out how to buy bitcoins, I only have paypal, so it's pretty much impossible that way (and I understand the reasons behind it, it just sucks for me).

Go to #bitcoin-otc on the freenode irc server.

Or check btc-e.com to do some trading.

I like it, I just wish it was easier to get a few .01 btc to play with.  I went through the whole virwox.com thing, but they say it will be 48 hours, and it ended up being like $22 for 1 btc (they won't let you do smaller than that)

so, anyway, it is a learning process.

I can tell you though, someone is going to have to figure out how to do PayPal or Credit Card to btc for this to really take off.  I can't imagine my mom or someone like that going through all of this hassle just to have bitcoins.

They are not newbie friendly!

The main problem with that is chargebacks -- there's no way to get the bitcoins back.  Acquiring bitcoins has only continued to get easier, though, and it should continue to do so.  More and more options every day Smiley

yeah, I know the issue with chargebacks, but we're gonna have to find a way to work through that.  No amount of exchangers will get more people into this until they can get BTC easily.  Going from a bank account is not easy for most people.  CC is, and that's where the big development needs to happen.
