Hehe, I remember back in the day when I was a newbie...
*shudders*
Horrible days.
Hey current newbies, what do you think of the gold market right now? Smiley

I wish I sold everything when it was at $1,800 USD per oz! Do you think it will ever reach that again?

Did you buy the paper value of gold or physical Gold (bars, bullions etc?)

The paper value of gold is intentionally being driven down by the fed to stabilize dollar inflation! Hence, China, Bangladesh, India, and all major gold buyers are buying physical gold!

I believe physical gold will increase in price.

On bitcoin - I think it still has room to drop further. For one - many Noobis bought in after the crash in April... those same noobis are finding it too much (THE UPS AND DOWNS - FED involvement, Mt Gox mishaps etc) and are bailing. Also, traditionally, this time of the year is a down time in the markets and in governments (northern hemisphere) so as more and more speculators and investors look to btc I see btc being influenced by market trends. At this point I see between $35 - $50 as being an entry point! Perhaps even $25 - $30. Don't forget we still need to fill the gaps!!

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Hi, this is my first post so I'll introduce myself.

I'm Jimbo, an old age pensioner from downtown Toronto, Ontario, and I've been lurking since January, but I'm only signing up now.

I first heard about Bitcoin late last year when a friend told me about Silk Road. He was interested in the drugs but it was the peer-to-peer currency that caught my attention.

I wasted over a month trying to figure out the scam and learning about dual-key cryptography, secure hashing algorithms, mining, the blockchain, etc., before realizing the potential and committing some of my savings. By then bitcoins had doubled in price but most people still hadn't heard of them and I figured prices would soar when they found out. I sent $650 to BFL for 30GH/s worth of ASICs and tried to figure out how to buy some bitcoins (preferably anonymously) without expensive international bank transfers. I wasted weeks on Paypal alone before I realized it wasn't a payment option.

By the time I discovered Virtex, the price had doubled again and I was forced to buy in at over $60. Ugh.

As I consider my Bitcoin holdings to be a long-term investment, most of my bitcoins are in cold storage, with just 10BTC in each of my MtGox and Virtex accounts for day-trade speculation, and about 5BTC in a spending wallet. Hopefully by the time I reach my eighties in another decade and a half, my Bitcoin holdings will be worth enough to afford me a few luxuries in my old age.
Hi and welcome to the forums. I wish you good luck on your investments in bitcoin.

Hi, I'm proud to say that this is my first post on the forum.  I work full time as a rare coin dealer and I am passionate about the history of tangible money and monetary theory.  Bitcoin, and similar digital currencies, have captured my imagination as a potential mainstream currency in the future.

Hi everyone, i have mining BTC for about a year and i like the idea of decentralized digital currency. I just had an idea a few days ago. That is, if we combine the decentralized digital currency and the decentralized file-sharing network, we may bring benefit to both fields. Then i got a slogan for this: "Of the digital, By the digital, For the digital"  Smiley

I will post detail thoughts to discussion board once i can.

Hi everyone,

I'm taking a course that involves integrating BTC with a service. I follow Litecoins more, but I know that Bitcoin is the most important digital currency right now.

First post after several days lurking anonymously  Smiley

Took me the best part of a day figuring out how to buy bitcoins with fiat in the UK with all the usual channels shut down, but I persevered and am now the proud owner of a small stash. Something to redirect my gold holdings into!
