I'm wondering where the USD price of a BTC could be at the end of 2012, assuming the BTC network is not destroyed by some 2012 Mayan disaster prophecy. Its my understanding that the network creates 50 BTC every 10 minutes or 7200 BTC per day, the mtgox price is USD $6.35 as I type this, so if you multiply the freshly minted BTC for the day by the price, you arrive at $45,720 per day going into BTC economy. Even if miners are retaining a percentage of there yield and operating at a loss then you can just count those lost revenues (capital costs for equipment, electricity, etc.) as money into the BTC economy. I also understand that when the 210,000 blocks (around Oct Novemberish) mark is reached production will be cut in half from 50 BTC every 10 min t0 25 BTC every 10 min.

Where does the $46K per day go when the supply gets halved?

Does the price simply double?

Also what will the BTC economy's daily $ appetite for new BTC be when the production is halved?

And what percentage of new BTC are purchased by existing users, what percentage are bought by new entrants to the BTC economy?

If I misstated anything please let me know.

So does anyone know anything about eligius? I just had a bad experience with them. I had to turn off my miner for a couple of hours and my unpaid reward completely vanished. There isn't an unconfirmed amount in my wallet, and no transactions took place. This pisses me off man, as I was impressed with the amount of btc I was getting but now it's all gone..

Erm... um... i don't know what to... oh hell.

As an experiment, I will send .01 BTC to the first person to quote one of my favourite lines from this character.... (I have lots).

"It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van."

Well, that's who he's talking about... but I'm looking for one of my favourite quotes from the movie that line is from.

Here's another.... "One thing I could never stand was to see a filthy, dirty old drunkie, howling away at the filthy songs of his fathers and going,  "blurp blurp" in between, as it might be a filthy old orchestra in his stinking, rotten guts. I could never stand to see anyone like that, whatever his age might be, but more especially when he was real old like this one was."

Is it possible to take your coins away if you have not heard of this masterpiece? (I jest, I jest!)

I knew I had heard that line but couldn't pull up the movie.  Clockwork Orange was a fav of mine but I haven't seen it for an awful lot of years.  I guess its time to watch it again.  The Ludwig Van was a giveaway too.  Oh well, now I get to watch it again, not all is lost.

As long as I wake up breathing it's all a bonus.  Sometimes not much of a bonus but still a bonus.

Sorry, I misread, thanks anyways, much appreciation. I can't quote him *correctly* without looking it up so I'm screwed there (That's cheating =P)

How about, "That was a real kick and good for laughs and lashings of the old ultraviolent." or "Come, come, come, my little droogies."
