Speaking of love , Alot of members including newbies have kept our Naija board active. So in my little way, I have decided to show some love and encouragement to them, by giving them a chance to earn some merits.

Alright here is the catch , this is going to be an art contest. Participants are required to create an art as a way of saying: "Merry Christmas to Naija board".

Rules
1. Participants are required to create only one entry which can be edited till the close date of the thread.
2. Participant must be an active member of Naija board
3. Please do not use AI content.
4. Please  be sincere and don't make use of alts.
5. Art should contain a Bitcoin logo.
6. Thread will be open till 31st of December 2023.
7. Please do not spam this thread.
8. Contest will be open for all ranks (please let's give the lower ranks  a chance of winning 🙂)

It's high time we begin dey showcase our talents for here and general boards at large. I totally support this idea and I hope our bigger bosses will throw dem support too. This is a nice initiative by the OP and I commend him on that, this are the kind of competition that we ought to bring to our local board in festive periods of love like this. We have so many experienced persons in our local board here that are very good in artworks so I believe in less than no time they will begin to show their art skills in this thread. This kind of ideology coming from a full member like you is a welcome development and should also stand as a challenge to some of our senior men here to also be fully involved in showing love to forum members in our local board who have be making active contributions to the well being of our local board, I also stand to applaud those of us who have been very  up and doing to make our local board active. This is an interesting contest for naija people,  and it happens to take place in the happiest season of the year . I think this will really be fun to keep the board very active. OP thsnk you very much for bringing a good idea which will encourage members of this our local board , and a contest that will be fun and be a memorable one to those who  will participate in the contest. Abeg ooo judges make una no participate ooo, like this people are still designing as there are still few days left for the competition to be over. Maybe you can just design and post but your post will not be counted as your fellow judges won't like to fall your hands on the judgement day 😁😁.

uchegod-21 yes the contest is open to all rank I believe,  and if there be any rules it should be stated in the ops,  please check to see if goi can take part in the context,  indeed this is the very first of it kind and at such we have seen some external actors like 1miau who have contributed to the prize and a big motivation for us to know that he is always with us here in the local board.

I support your opinion that all judges commentaries should be done in their private group so that the participants won't know what Is going on in the backend. Authenticity should be a major priority so that the integrity of the competition will be maintained as any compromise in this very first competition in this local board will jeopardize the subsequent ones in the future.

Well, you are right about the commentary stuff, the correction taken seriously, and hopefully, you guys won't see a repeat.

Well again, some are probably looking down on the reward, while it's also evident that some of our members must have traveled to their respective villages for the Christmas and new year holidays and celebration.
While there definitely be others who are simply waiting on the side line for every one else participating to send in their art first, so the know what they are up against and know how to buckle themselves up  .

I accept the fact that many of our members are already on vacation and since we know how this season is in this part of the world where everyone allocates the December period to visit their hometowns and also check of ancestral homes and relatives,  many of the good hands may miss out on this contest.

I totally agree with this suggestion as this one go help avoid favoritism and unnecessary feeling for here. I dey see better art works for here but I go keep my judgement on the best in.

The holidays are gradually winding up and we are back to work,  let see what we can come out with,  but to this point,  I haven't seen enough submissions yet,  is it that the members of our local board are not aware of the total equivalent value of the prize for the winner?

Both merits and funds reward may total up to #70,000 that a lot of money and I believe it will take a back-breaking task to earn it,  let see what you get fellows.

As Christmas was fast approaching, Santa Claus thought about the gift to bring Nigerians having seen the rapid growth of our local board and our contribution to the growth of bitcoin at large. Santa decided to bring us BTC, having realised that Bitcoin is banned in the country, he decided to lift the Nigerian Flag with him. As the government saw Santa in the airport with a bag full of bitcoin and holding high the Nigerian flag, they immediately reciprocated by lifting the ban on Bitcoin. What a perfect arrangement!

Santa did not only bring us bitcoin, he also brought us liberty and good luck for 2024.

I think the organizer of this context didn't mean anything bad with the rule no 8, though the power of determining the winners lies with the judges. Stable090 gets it but I do not know where he gets that colour which makes it not that perfect as it goes down, changing from orange. Although, the colour is very similar to the correct bitcoin logo. He gets the 14 degree angle.

Mayor of ogba is the only art that included the correct bitcoin logo. He gets the 14 degree angle and also used the orange colour. I like that fact that he did not included altcoins logo along as well. Although, Samlucky O included one correct and two wrong bitcoin logos. This makes me see his art like other ones that included the wrong bitcoin logo, aside from the fact that other arts of some people are better.

Obviously I did the right thing by making you aware and respectively correcting you that mayor of ogba is not the only user with the right Bitcoin logo.

OP, what they are doing is not spamming. You should allow discussion to go on, what is not acceptable at this point is new art entry. I believe the judges have a group to deliberate apart from here.

This is just my exact opinion. The contest is not about the best bitcoin logo design. Any bitcoin logo which correctly depicts bitcoin in the art should be acceptable whether it is in a background canva or tilted at certain degree or not.

Charles go back and check other Bitcoin art collections - if you have design experience you will know that the only thing you need to make any stunning design is the BTC symbol and not the yellow canvas background.

Igebotz is very correct. The yellow canvas background might not fit in some designs, and forcefully inserting it to maintain the bitcoin logo standard might mare the whole design.

@Charles from his own angle is emphasizing the stand alone bitcoin logo. Although, I haven't read about it, which I will do now  But when it applies to design, it is dynamic and doesn't follow any static rule.

Well good to see that this thread is open again, having gone through what op said I am very much happy to see that a contest is being hosted over our local board although I am not selected or invited as one of the judges neither do I have enough merits to spray across those that will be selected as winners. Nobe today we begin run design na - if you are dealing with pictures or logo for art work you just remove the background, the yellow circle is just a background work, have you ever seen it minted on any physical Bitcoin or collectibles before?

Well for me there's nothing too serious about this as the cause of the argument is just for an enabling ground of judging without a biased mindset so the arguments are worth it. Though we expected the results earlier than now but I believe that the delay was due to the fact that all the panel of judges have not adjudicate their judgement hence the delay in the process. I appeal with the judges to come forth and make their final jurisdiction so that the result of the contest would be out and everyone go about their normal business.

It is believed that in a contest, not every one will win and no matter what the outcome of the contest entails, every participant should accept it in good faith. It is unfortunate that I don't have sendables to go round all the participants if not I would have done so to encourage all those who participated because if there is not participants, then there's no contest.

I want to use this medium to thank the organizer(s) of this contest for the sense of love to organize such a contest and I hope similar things of this nature continues in the future. I also thank the donators of this contest for their show of love and interest towards this contest and I tell you guys to keep up the good work.

I suggest that the OP should make announcements of the judges of this contest to be the only ones to make comments on this thread for now pending the final decision of the winner.

Before I say what I want to say, I want to ask @Pi-network have you participated in any bitcoin Contest in the forum before now (like the pizza or pumpkin contest) concerning the issue of bitcoin logo and no bitcoin logo?

What do you mean by this thread is not for argument and by the way does it sound like @daikyscript was arguing with @Charles-Tim or he was just only stating some points he find necessary to put out for everyone's understanding. Don't try to heat up the polity.

Quit alright judges were appointed but be reminded that these judges are not perfect beings to see it all and know it all - a lot of pressure is on them which could make them miss certain points that we the viewers may be able to see and it's in our place to point it out to their notice so that things can go fine for the greater good.

This event is the first of its kind here and if we are to be honest with ourselves, it's very fair despite the fact that it's the first time. I don't know what lapses you observed that makes you conclude that it didn't work as planned. The board of judges is not a one man panel and all of them can not get it wrong at the same time. The contest has rules and I don't think it's wise decision for the judges to explain every process here for the public. It's not voting event and the organizer being the judge himself would make things worse because partiality will definitely play in. The judges deserve accolades for discharging their duty without favoritism.

Although, things can not be 100% percent but if you can tell the areas you think there was a foul play and you're not comfortable with, it will help the organiser to fix it in the next event. But advising one person (the organizer) to singlehandedly handle everything is not ideal in my opinion. After all, it's our collective responsibility to make things better here.

I am one of the judges and you saying that you did not see any input from any of the judges is a disrespect bud, however, this is just a merit contest after all, but let's not do away with the fact that this could get bigger in the future.

Mia Chloe did the right thing by assigning other users as judges, together with him self to decide the winner of this contest, this is part of being transparent, as if he himself was the only one to judge who won, many would have suspected that he gave the winnings to his alt accounts, or user he has some private connection with, but with multiple people deciding the winner, there was no room for such manipulation.

And speaking on the process of selecting the winners, I can assure you it was as transparent as possible, the judges came up with a spreadsheet of all the contestants, with their usernames linking to their art submission respectively, judges take a look at the user's art submission and score it from 1 to 10, the three contestants with the highest scores came out as winners.

I am still trying to convince Mia Chloe to make this spreed sheet public for transparency purposes.

I don't want to ruin the fun, but just suggesting that I had some hesitancies to send smerits based on the reasons stated above... and I am not even sure about my suggestion, except to somehow make it tied to something in the real world rather than digital.. unless someone has some tips for me in terms of trying to judge authenticity and the lack of the use of AI generation as had been stated in the rules.

Definitely, AI cheating shouldn't be rewarded.
I'm not an AI checking expert and I didn't check each picture by a checking tool but most AI pictures are still somehow easy to spot. Of course, I agree: AI is improving very quickly.
That's why I only gave 1 Merit away because even if a participant tried AI cheating, 1 Merit wouldn't be a huge reward for AI cheating.
And of course, AI cheaters will get busted sooner or later.

I ran the winner's artwork through numerous AI image detectors and the results were 100% human; I had my doubts after seeing the water glass surface on the artwork, but I was wrong; it's some bad ass digital paints.

Such efforts should be rewarded, but unfortunately, we do not have a merit source yet, and it is tough to get requests granted here. We have too many people to not have a merit source who understands the culture.
