Anyone who gambles has their own reason for gambling, which still depends on their own way of life. So I see no reason why you will have to hide what you are doing with your life because no one is in a position to stop you from doing what you do as a source of life and survival. That is why you are a human being, so even if you are a gambler and you think some of the people around you look at you in a negative way, you just have to reduce or cut off entirely with them; if not, they will not allow you to concentrate. I don't think that it's criticism, someone who just happen to see you gamble and yet they've got some reactions and feedback that are unnecessary.

They criticize you if they have seen you do something wrong and you're harming other people but no you don't. There are people that just want to get into the lives of others without even thinking to fix their lives first.

I do not give a fuck about anyone. But most of my gambling activities are online and in a way most people in public do not even know that I am gambling. Just my friends and people that are very close to me are the ones that know that I am gambling. Yes I do. I even hide my gambling practices from my family and my partner. I had even promised not to gamble again the last time I lost a large amount of money rage betting. I would have hid it but it was too large to go missing. I too have a social life and is considered as a person who don't like to party or gamble. All the gambling I do are online. There are some friends and colleagues who knows I'm active in gambling as we do talk about where the better odds are provided for sports betting and who might win. Yes but however it is a fact that most people have a negative perspective on gambling which makes them have a negative perspective on people who are involved in gambling so that criticism appears, I don't know what the problem is but what is certain is that society only sees as a whole about the bad behavior of a gambler who has entered the addiction phase, even though basically for example you are not one of the addicted gamblers but still people will not believe it.

When I was at my teenage years I love football so much every day of my life i come back later from school, why because we do play football when school is over. But my mom was very angry at me that I'm wasting my time playing football instead of me to come and support her with her house chores. She stopped me of playing football because she said too much of loving football would lead to gambling later in my life. Because that's how my elder brother did,  but I see no evil thing with gambling but just that people over use something. For me I don't see why somebody would tell me that I'm going the wrong way because I'm gambling. I know I do lose but I don't really care about that I know what I'm earning for.

Understand that most people see gambling as a root of distraction in life and some people see it as if you're wasting your money gambling. I've also seen someone who gambled and build his on house with gambling.

In my phone right now I've so many betting sites is not that I don't have something doing. I do work but I use the gambling to support my self when I haven't received my payment at work, but their are people who don't do anything for work but what they do with their life is gambling. And this are the set of people who makes gambling seems insane and this set people will leave there home from morning before they'll come back home it's in the night, so is not that gambling is legal no it's not. But those people who are addicted to it makes it seems legal to those who don't know anything about gambling but they only had of it as a destiny distriction, I've a relative who does nothing for work he's life he as been gambling his wife keeps complaining to me about him. But he doesn't care of what they say about him gambling because he wins more then loses. My take on it is pretty straightforward, if it’s someone close to me their opinions do matter and usually these concerns can be addressed through an open and honest conversation. However, if it’s just an acquaintance or someone I dont have a strong connection with their opinion doesnt really affect me. This approach isnt just limited to gambling but applies to pretty much all aspects of my life.

We should not be a hypocrite as well because we may also do the same as them unconsciously because it is like a human nature when we (people) like to talk about others LOL.

I think if you're hearing mostly bad things like you here the common impression of people to the gamblers, it's best to ignore them.

That's probably why I think it's best to ignore them but we can't avoid not to listen to them if we're in the same situation as OP that we're someone beside us and sees what we do.

If they say something good and it passes our ear then it's your thought to build in your mind whether you'd ignore or not. But for me, I'd just do my business and will totally ignore them if they're just reacting to what I do when I don't do it to others.

Anyway, you're right that sometimes we're also like them but we just don't voice it out.
