It is not bad to continue gambling until you die or until you are unable to have your brain functioning properly because of old age. An old man that still have fun while gambling should continue to have the fun if he is not wasting money on it, so far it is just little amount of money and having fun with it.

It's personal interest, strength, and the right knowledge that determine when one should stop. For example, if I am at the age of 80 and I can still strongly move around and think properly, I can still gamble if I want to. My grandad was still gambling even at the age of 60+ (although I can't remember accurately, but I know he was still gambling till he got to 70 years).

@OP, it depends on the interest of the gambler. He or she will decide when they want to stop gambling. Some old people did not stop gambling at self-will but maybe due to some external facts like illnesses (health issues) or their children discouraged them.

that i can agree with. if you are gambling just to pass time and have some fun, then there's no retirement age in this activity. actually, this activity will make your mind active in thinking as you grow older. just don't go to the extent of borrowing from everyone around you. that i think, you need to contemplate in gambling if you have so many loans from anyone and you are in deep financial trouble.

that is actually the major reason why oldies are into this activity, a kill time for them because they have nothing to do anymore. so long they know their limits, i believe there's nothing wrong doing this activity for as long as they like.

There's no such thing about right time on quitting gambling as long you do make yourself that responsible and mindful about your finances.You can deal with it for the rest of your life
as long you dont forget on making yourself having that control when it comes to your finances and just simply make out some bets or gambling just for fun then i dont see any reason
for someone to completely stop nor get rid of it. Age wont matter on which you would really be that able to gamble as you do like and make bets as you do like.
It is really just that on how you would really be making yourself that just fine with gambling, if you are seeing that it is really that greatly affecting you in terms of finances
then this is where you should consider on stopping.

If I can still make use of my two legs, I can still see clearly with my eyes, and I have enough money to spend aside from what I'm using to keep a healthy life, what then will stop me from gambling? There is no age limit for when someone needs to stop gambling. If you know you are fit enough, then you are good to go, be it in the 70s or 80s. If you can still do it, then you can.
 
But as an advanced man, the level to which he should gamble should probably be limited, as he has other things that he should focus on at that age rather than spending that time in a traditional gambling shop.

It is still okay for old men and even women to gamble if their health still allows them to. If an old man who has health problem is still gambling then he is just putting himself at risk bringing that closer to himself but if an old man is gambling for fun and sees gambling as a form of relaxation then that is still good because at his age he needs a lot of relaxation so that he does not develop high blood pressure due to stress, tension and over thinking. Do not forget that gambling is also for fun, and at an old age, some old men are not even concerned with how to make more money, they just want to have fun.

I think there is no age limit for gambling, and as you said, as long as we have money then gambling can still be done.

For myself, I will end my gambling activities when I have many needs, such as my child's need to go to college or my wife's needs. I will not sacrifice my family's money to gamble, when the burden of my life increases, I will stop gambling activities and I think that is a strong reason for me to stop gambling.

I think old men and women are wiser than young people. There is nothing that they have not seen. They have learned a lot in life. A gambler that later become old and still in earth, such a gambler would have known the right way to follow. There's no age limit, 2 days ago I went into a land base casinos and I see some commotion, it turns out that an old lady might have fallen down. She has a walking stick by the way, but maybe due to her age, she could stumbled or something.

But the point is that even at that age, at that disability, she still continue to play and enjoy just like the rest of us. So as long as you can play, have the money and have someone in your side if you go to landbase casinos or have guide or even nurses to accompany you, then you can play till the rest of your natural life.

You can't guess at what age someone will retire from the gambling activities they usually do, many also stop gambling until they die, but many also retire from gambling at a very young age ^{(under 40 years)}, i think the reason is that people there are different types of retirement from gambling, some because their partner forbids them, because their financial condition worsens, because they become more familiar with religion, because they experience an illness and because they really intend to stop.  gambling will always have a strong attraction, it is even difficult for people to get away from gambling, it's all because of the money they can get when gambling, apart from that, don't ever think that gambling is one of the things that can give you fast money, many gambling addicts have thoughts like this about gambling.

Based on my observation, typically senior citizens gamble most of the time since they do not have anything left to do.

For example, the grandparents of my girlfriend generally gamble at least 3-5 times a week. They typically play slots and bet relatively low amounts of money. Sometimes, they come home with a profit of around $40-$50 and they call it a day. But there were days where they would lose $60 and they will channel their hatred to everyone.

I think this really depends on your goal as a gambler.

If you are okay with the activity, that you are not becoming a burden to your family (assuming that you are just recieving your pension and that is the money you are using at age 70) then I think it will just be fine. The age when we should stop gambling is when we are being toxic about it and when we are getting addicted to it; borrowing money and being in huge debt, selling properties, not having enough sleep and appetite due to losses and stress, and the likes. That is the only time where you should know stopping will help you no matter how old or young you are.

For sure we are all aware of this; older people has more time engaging to activities given that by that time they are mostly not spending time working so what they should do to ease their boredom? We cannot order them to play Basketball and the likes if they are not into it (kidding aside). I don't think there will be any age constraints if that individual is still capable of being 16+ n 18+ to be competent and responsible for life. I find the case that the OP mentioned to be quite normal because the old men near the area where I live still have the habit of playing lottery tickets. We cannot impose opinions on anyone about how they should live, as long as it is within a framework suitable to the law as well as life circumstances, so that they are responsible for their actions.

True freedom in every decision, my grandfather (passed away) was also the owner of a gambling group and his children never forced him to stop, as long as everyone felt comfortable. I still remember the days when I was a child and was taken to breakfast with the money my grandfather had won from bets. It's not a story about earning extra income, but it brings joyful experiences in life which we don't always have the opportunity to enjoy again.
