I guess one of the reason Bitcoin is decentralised is because of anonymity.

Sure bitcoin was created to be decentralized and out of anonymity but that doesn't mean that Bitcoin should not be advertised or spread to others, though it is not compulsory for people to know that you are into Bitcoin but I see no reason why we should completely hide ourselves as Bitcoin investors or enthusiasts because if we continue to be anonymous then how can the awareness about Bitcoin move to other people that don't know about it because we can't say that the higher percentage of individuals in the country know about Bitcoin or even if they know about it, is only few that are investing in it so making our source of income from Bitcoin know can help to convince others that Bitcoin is not a scam project as some people thinks and will also persuade them to be part of this life changing digital asset.

Sure it's good to spread the good news all over and tell more persons about Bitcoin but how about your safety? BDC agents are being arrested for involvement in crypto/foreign exchange transactions so why don't you learn from this experience and stay on a low. The government are fighting crypto and wishes to arrest any citizen that involves himself/herself with crypto, so for now it's better to stay anonymous for your own sake. You don't actually need to advertise Bitcoin before it is heard, the government are fighting against crypto exchanges and this alone is creating more awareness, not to talk of the recently launched Notcoin that brought many to realisation that crypto is a good network.

As much as I'd like to do it, I won't. I would advice you not to do it too especially in Nigeria. I just heard from a friend today who just got onboarded to crypto that he was beaten up by law enforcement because they found those telegram bot programs on his phone that he actively participate in. Aside from law enforcement, it's really hard to convince people and an utter waste of time especially since our people get archaic kind of mentality around this sort of things. If anything, them go even use am plan against you. Except you're really sure of the people you're telling, you shouldn't.

On a normal sense, with how everything is going in this country it is better to even do things without anybody knowing what you are into because the wickedness of this world now is in another grade. Some people are just so interested in knowing what you are into just so that they can plan on ways to bring you down. Okay just about a couple of weeks ago when someone created a post on the reputation board about how the Nigerian local board have been growing rapidly and merit flowing within the local board isn't that to tell you the level of enviness? and if that account is being scrutinize very well you will discover it's a Nigerian. Just imagine, what is wrong if your fellow Nigerians are succeeding, is it not for you to be happy for them and wish them well instead you are looking for ways to bring them down it is very bad

And again everybody needs to be very careful with how they go about letting people know that they are into cryptocurrencies because some scammers and fraudsters like all these Yahoo boys uses bitcoin to cover up when they are caught by security agencies so it is sending a wrong signal to the genuine people who are into cryptocurrencies and another thing again is saving crypto transactions on your mobile phones because we all know how corrupt our security agencies have become for a long time now so if they see you and find out that you are dealing on cryptocurrency they will still find a way to intimidate you so everyone should just tread with caution that's all

I've also withnessed similar event that a bitcoin Investor was arrested in an alleged accusation of being a scammer. He tried as much as he could to make those security officers understand that bitcoin isn't an illegal technology but they didn't listen to him. All they cares was that if the Investor could be operating on the digital technology on using electronic devices like laptop and phones, then he's automatically a fraudster. That's just the low mentality of our country people.
However, letting people know that you're a bitcoin Investor has no value to your investment goal. We should be more caring about our funds safety and our safety in the environment than spreading our identities.

Exactly, I don't even see any need to spread I mean tell people that we are Bitcoiners, to me is of no use and even if it has to be spread I think it shouldn't be people like us who haven't benefited more from Bitcoin I mean we are yet to have something to show forth so what should I be proud about, you can only be proud of something when you have prove or evidence cause if you no get am you go explain tire but if my evidence choke everywhere I fit run  am but no be now wey government they find prey, abeg my money no long to call lawyer, we gats behave ourselfs make we no go enter government pot before them go

In naija people see bitcoin investors as yahoo, e hard for them to differentiate bitcoin investor from yahoo boys, if you tell people say you be bitcoiner na cyberfraud dem go call you. So you better keep quite and focus on your trading, bcos people never really understand say bitcoiner and yahoo no be same thing. Even our police no even know de different,  if they catch you driving and u tell them say u be bitcoin miner dem go arrest you ASAP. Funny country, even my late uncle a lecturer once asked me where is my shop ,since I sell bitcoin. I laugh tire that day. Naija never really understand bitcoin so keep it to ursef.

Definitely,we can always tell people about what we are doing because we aren't stealing anybody's money,we are doing the right thing, and the work we are doing isn't for touts,it is for educated people, people who are learned because it isn't easy cracking your brain to make a reasonable and sensible post. I am very happy that I got recognized with this group, and with this group I have the optimism that I will grow and become some important figure in the society.
It gives me happiness everyday that I am part of the community, and I will always remain motivated by the things I see here everyday, and always become proud of it.

Just be careful of people that you tell that you are making some money on this forum. People that are buying bitcoin or receiving reward in bitcoin need to be careful. Especially of offline attack like physical attack can be possible and by avoiding people about you receiving bitcoin weekly would be better.

Just play your card right. To know Yahoo guy is not difficult to know. I know people that are into online means of earning and there has been no problem.

If it comes to police case, you will be able to defend yourself and you have nothing to be afraid of if your hand is clean.

Yeah, that's why privacy should be our top priority, because is not everyone you will tell that you earning so so amount of money in bitcoin and he or she will be happy with you , some may go to the extent to set you up . By sending some group of people to achieve you (Rub yah ) , that's why most time when it comes to this crypto space we should mind the wey we talk outside concerning it.

But base on our government dey go about this stuff most cryptos earners, are now hiding their exchange and wallet to be safe because they don't know what will happen, if by mistake they stumbled upon any police officer, so to be in a safe side is better to just hid . And keep your privacy checked.

Definitely,we can always tell people about what we are doing because we aren't stealing anybody's money,we are doing the right thing, and the work we are doing isn't for touts,it is for educated people, people who are learned because it isn't easy cracking your brain to make a reasonable and sensible post. Lol  Cheesy there's no means of earnings that's easy especially legal means, but what I will say is that we should limit the people we tell what we do to just be in a safer side. And one thing again don't depend on btt only try and invest your money in other stuff, inside or outside this space because is more better to have different sources than just one .

So my question is this, can we proudly tell people that we're Bitcoiners? And even if we do how can they be convinced that we're doing genuine work online since the society sees most people earning from online as fraudsters (Yahoo boys).
I know people having different thought of you surviving and not seeing anything that is bring income for you can give you a serious concern for you to prove a point to them to let them know how you make your money.  But you need to understand that one thing in life people will always talk whether you have money or not. If you want to be happy in life it is better for you to be silent and not bothering yourself trying to explain yourself to people. Even if you explain yourself to people around you how you make money,  your bills remains your responsibility and nobody will pay it for you, so their is no need to explain anything to anybody.
People's mindset has nothing to do anything with your life, keep grinding,  plan your life and never let what they think about you to make you lose focus.

If it were before, I would have been proud to tell people I'm a Bitcoiner but lately alot have changed about how I view telling people about my activities in Bitcoin. I have realized the advantages of remaining discrete about my Bitcoin holding and activities far outweigh the disadvantages. This is partly due to the fact that we live in a country where Bitcoin is perceived as a threat to our national currency, the reason that have been unjustifiable crackdown on Bitcoin by our government. In order not to expose oneself to risk in any form, it is better to remain hidden and protected. You might tell a friend who will tell his friend that does not like you or jealous of you, all he need to do is to report you to the authorities and you might be in trouble already in the hands of the government and the EFCC. So remaining secret is more reasonable now as I can only direct people to this forum and never to disclosed my portfolio to them.

Most times it's just better you maintain  some privacy because it hard to trust people these days besides most people here in Nigeria are brainwashed that all people that are into cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin are fraudsters, they know little of the world of bitcoin so they can say shit about it and you announcing yourself as a Bitcoiner can make the situation worse.. they aren't gonna believe you but try changing your mode of dressing too

Better explanation is going to make them believe you bro.It is good to assume, but when better explanation comes, there is every tendency that they will believe you.
In other to do this, you must have a private conversation with the person's that is doubting you,try to show him prove of what you do,do your thing and show him,he will know that you aren't into fraud,or will you sit and look at someone spoil your name when you know clearly what you are doing that you are doing a direct job that can pay you.Better explanation can save you.

As far as Bitcoin is not a bad thing to practice, Nigeria is a country with little security insurance. The security and justice system of Nigeria is not really appealing and that's why you will be faced with situations where young people are wrongly bullied and molested over lack of proper system checks and balances. In Nigeria, the digital currencies and financial technology industry is still a new platform to a lot of people, not because there were no Nigerians who explored those technologies early enough but because many Nigerians are skeptical about the whole internet banking system as an entirety. It is still in Nigeria you will find professors who don't trust the mobile banking platforms neither do they appreciate the financial technology evolving around the world. So, when you, as an individual, engage in those pure and clean technologies, they refer to you as a potential fraudster, especially if you are a young person.

So many things just need to change for this out country and e no dey alright. Before law enforcement dey focus on fraudsters, now them don extend am to include anyone indulging in crypto. I know this — which is why I'm not quick to reveal my involvement with crypto because it gets even difficult to explain to people who aren't interested to evolve and try out new digital technologies. Over here, it's even more dangerous to be very vocal about crypto to people around you because that single action may put you in danger too.

After seeing people's experiencs and having my own fair share of experiences, I now understand why Magicians do not share their tricks.

Some of us here were not actually doing very well before we joined this forum and people know that we don't have a job and a source of income but when we were introduced to this forum, we took time to build our accounts and were fortunate to join signature campaigns and we started earning income from it and things begins change differently in our lives as we were able to buy clothes, food, shelter and even extend hands to some of our loved ones and people begin to wonder what kind of job you're doing that you have suddenly changed to the extent of even rendering assistance to other people.

So my question is this, can we proudly tell people that we're Bitcoiners? And even if we do how can they be convinced that we're doing genuine work online since the society sees most people earning from online as fraudsters (Yahoo boys).

Saying out your main source of income is dangerous, most especially in Nigeria, but still, I see no reason why you can’t tell people that you are a bit-coiner because nothing is wrong with that. Normally, many people are showing up on social media and claiming they are bitcoin traders, but they are not, which with time they will be exposed to. But if you know you are doing legit work, what will make you think that you can’t speak out?

Your actions determine who you are. As far as I am concerned, no one can come up to me and say I am lying when I tell him I am a bitcoiner because I see no signs that will indicate getting my money in the wrong way, so I have no fear of anyone.

Most times it's just better you maintain  some privacy because it hard to trust people these days besides most people here in Nigeria are brainwashed that all people that are into cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin are fraudsters, they know little of the world of bitcoin so they can say shit about it and you announcing yourself as a Bitcoiner can make the situation worse.. they aren't gonna believe you but try changing your mode of dressing too
And again you actually owe no one any explanation about what you do and besides if we really look into the whole thing at hand I think staying private would actually benefit you more than actually letting people know that you are into Bitcoin cause just like you said the whole society is brainwashed to the mentality that Bitcoin has to do with scam@yahoo boys, but little did they know that it's actually cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin that's ruling the world now.

Actually you can only call yourself a bitcoiner if you have been profiting from bitcoin investment because you can't just bare the name bitcoiner when you don't even profit from bitcoin investment, you know one thing about me I don't disclose my source of income to people. you know how the society is disclosing your source of income to people is very risky, you don't know who is who probably you can disclose your source of income to people maybe within a couple of months you find out that things aren't working out for you unlike as it use to be before.

mean while when you didn't tell anyone about your source of income things was working absolutely well for you, but ever since you disclose it to people that's how you begin to experience down fall. this is why we need to be extremely careful on how we tell people about our source of income if I'm doing absolutely well that's for me, i don't owe anyone any explanation they can say whatever thing they wish to say for all I care.

It is interesting to see the same or similar mentality voltage concerning this topic (haven read through)... Like Mr. Suevie said, you owe no one explanation, if policeman make them come first (that's if some jealous and not tired to be jealous people makes a report accusing you to be fraudulent)...
So I think the answer is yes and no... Yes to deserving people in your life and that is if need be (some parents, siblings and relatives would want to clear all doubts) .
And bloody no to anyone, mostly those who loves to see you broke, talkers tempting you just to hear what they'll say about you etc

It depend d people living around ur area, before u can be bold to tell them ur occupation because some people are like agent of darkness looking for who to destroy, and d moment dey discover dat u are bitcoiners in d area, dey can use police or bad guys to set u up to collect money or bitcoins from u because dey no dat bitcoiners use to have money, I don't tell anybody dat am a bitcoiners in my area because I don't trust those people around ur area because bad news use to happen every week or monthly basis, u can teach people u trust about bitcoin but don't expose ur secret to them which is my advice to u bro.

When you tell people you're into bitcoin, they'll have no choice but to want to chat to you. Because of the way bitcoin works, people understand that it is not easy and that people make money. One of the reasons people want to do bitcoin is because the thing won't pass because of money, and if you look am true say money, they bitcoin, but if you look am, they want to make money but don't want to read.  And this is one of the most important things you need to do when you want to do crypto: prepare your mind to learn. In reality, I took it upon myself to raise awareness for bitcoin, the fact that people had an incorrect perception of it. And when I did section in crypto I never regretted i was happy I did something like that because even our parents had a better understanding about bitcoin, a lot of misconception about bitcoin is to much and I was surprised that they contributed well to the radio station.
