The accusation that Leo left the forum due to low payrate is one of the most ridiculous ones I've heard. First things first, he had voluntarily quit from Mixtum, long before theymos announced about the mixer ban. Secondly, he was renting his avatar to Foxpup in exchange for a lot more than any signature campaign was paying. It doesn't stick.

LOL. Its because he has a genuine passion for bitcoin. I know that idea is absurd to you, but people like him actually exist. For the first 4+ years of my Bitcointalk career I wasn't in a campaign either.
Genuine passion... That's what's missing nowadays from the users of this forum. We rarely notice new such users entering Bitcointalk. It's nowadays mostly aged accounts taking advantage of their signature space.

If you were right, the easier, more logical thing to do would have been to just disappear from the forum completely, without writing any sort of explanation for his disappearance.
It all depends how you look at it.
We already had several attempts of forum members claiming to be sick and they even asked donations for that, directly or indirectly, so people have right to be a little suspicious.
There are some members from our local board who left the forum because of their busy work schedule or new life situation, but I wouldn't ask anyone to show me any proof or reason for leaving.

PS
Regarding Leo, I have good reasons to believe his health really became much worse in last few years, but I don't understand what this has to do with mixer ban  Tongue

Spot on bold type black

but I think the worse we can do is fuck with cosmetics. red bold type

I believe these cosmetics are why the signature campaigns work so well.
My intention towards the comment about cosmetics were about updating the look of the forum because it is dating back to 2008, it really looks very outdated as it has remained stuck from 16 years ago while competitors have a modern look and feel.

With the amount of funds accumulated over the years, it will be fairly easy to pay a suitable coder to update the look of the forum while maintaining the signature campaign section. Why it has not been done is a valid question.

That is absolutely right. Not only ban of signature campaigns negatively affect this forum but on the other hand, if signature campaigns lower pay rate as low as 40-50 USD per week, then this forum will experience significant lose of high quality posters and will be left with bunch of spammers.
That is another aspect, if payouts fall to $40-$50 then many members here could conclude the most valuable asset (or appealing factor) of the forum was no longer worth their time therefore in that scenario the impact of migration on this forum would be huge.

I believe these cosmetics are why the signature campaigns work so well.
I think I agree with you but on the other hand, these cosmetics are why this forum struggles to attract youth. At least theymos has to make this forum responsive, it's not that hard.
If younger members (and potential members) are being attracted to other forums to discuss crypto it is going to empower competitors and that will affect the direction this forum takes in future.

The accusation that Leo left the forum due to low payrate is one of the most ridiculous ones I've heard.

I know nothing about this situation so there's that...  However, if there's one thing I know about longtime Bitcoiners, it's that they know the value of BTC and when someone offers you some, a low pay rate can be easily acceptable due to the belief that Bitcoin will continue to grow in value.  I doubt very much that a low pay rate is what made "Leo" leave the forum that has been a daily part of his/her life for so long.  Especially when one has the belief that $100 in BTC will be $1,000 in BTC someday.  This forum has been around for a long time.  Many members are going to have health problems and leave in the future.  It's the circle of life.  In another 10 years it will be very common here I'm sure.

The timing just happened to be coincidental with the mixer ban. Let's not indulge ourselves in conspiracy theories now.

Let's be honest we can't know 100% if o_e_l_e_o really left the forum because of his health issues or for some other reason. We can only make educated guesses based on his post history and since he looks like a genuine a person, I'd say the chances for him telling the truth are higher than 90%. Is it 100%? Unless you know him in real life and saw his hospital records, you can't tell that and I think nobody here knows him in real life.

90% is what you would give to most of us plebs if one of us was to mysteriously stop posting all of a sudden. I'd say it's closer to 99%. Using "Nines" nomenclature.

Besides, pretty much every serious online activity pays more per week than whatever you can make on the forum. It's called beer money for a reason.

I'm in the same line of thought as you, Ok,  Let's say that this is 30% truth, I doubt if someone like "Leo" would because of low pay rate present health issue as a reason for him to leave the forum when he can quietly leave the forum without stating his reason for doing that and no one would query him for doing that, To me leaving the forum because of low pay rate is very far from the real reason.

Well YouTube has grabbed a few "influencers" that do an awful lot of videos.

I watch them

some content is good. in a way they compete against me but frankly I am older than the two of them put together and I am not looking to spend time make 1000-2000 videos
