I've realised i've been using a fake kucoin app. The trustwallet app is legit.

to which you already have deposited 85K, right?  damn, that scammer is going to celebrate for weeks.  so why do they need to see your trust wallet, they want more?  
where did you download the fake kucoin app? you must report it to prevent others from getting scammed.

to make sure its the real kucoin, i think going to their website and scan the QR for the app makes it safer and know exactly that its the right one.

KuCoin doesn’t have the right to charge you tax because they are not even regulated to do that for their customer. Only IRS of the country has the right to do it directly with user account.

This issue very suspicious and I’m sensing that OP is flagged by someone or the government by doing money laundering or else proof of income will not be required to withdraw the balance since the amount is not even in million while other user doesn’t have problem with greater balance. There’s nothing to do here than follow their requirements as long you will not deposit again.

You don’t have to continue your conversation with this support because it’s definitely not the real  Kucoin support and you are being scammed and fooled by a fake Kucoin site or application as you described it.

They initially asked me to pay 65k tax which I did.

For this amount of money you got scammed for, I think it’s better to report it to the police, if you live in a country where cryptocurrencies are legal of course. Otherwise, you will need to find another option to recover your assets or at least find these scammers identities.
I also hope you share the transactions’ Id with us so we would at least be cautious and track their main wallet for more victims and similar cases.
Until now we can’t really understand this whole situation, where did you get this website or application from, how are you contacting this fake support. So I think it’s better to share more information and details such as screenshots, links and transactions’ Ids.

Well it's your choice, if you think you can play smart enough to achieve some of your wasted money back then you should make a try but I'm not advising you to do so because it might end up the wrong ways.

Just follow the advises that have been offer by my senior colleagues and stay away from this scammers because there is nothing that they can't do to get your money. I have experience on this scams, they might come back for you with another strategy for instance using another profile to tell you that you can get back your funds through some of their apps then they will ask you to make a payment for your funds to be retrieved.

Is it possible that a scammer offers you a fake kucoin account with huge money it that stucked until you deposit a balance because this kind of scheme is very popular nowadays on telegram with random user sending you PM asking for help to recover their huge funds. It’s very hard to believe that someone with huge balance will be a victim with fake apps. Worst is you even deposit huge amount.

Lesson of the day:
Never trust any link shared with you by anyone, not even someone you trust. Always go to the official project page and get the direct download link to their wallet or even their social media account. To some point, links posted there should be investigated before you download them to your phone.
 
Losing your fund might not be the only risk you face right now. You should try chickening out other financial and personal data you have on that gadget, as such an app might also likely be designed to steal personal data from you in your absence.
 
Even searching for websites on search engines is not always advisable; always take note of that and learn how to bookmark whatever page and site you regularly use in order not to fall into the wrong hands again.

Do you know whey they call social Engineering?
They are probably gathering information about you planning for a more sophisticated attack so they want to confirm how much you have or if you actually have the funds
The predictable way is that they are likely going to send you a phishing link telling you to “verify” your trustwallet. The link will contain a page that asks for your seed phrase.

Please update us on what they will do, but that's my guess.

I see the plan but it's likely that they will believe in screenshots sooo you can just hire someone with decent editing skills. Otherwise, try to make sure the wallet where the cryptos will sit is installed on a clean device at least. Saying this because you mentioned, you had a fake kucoin app, we don't know what came with it so just to be sure, I wouldn't install the wallet on the same device that had a malicious app.

It's nothing new, people of different backgrounds get scammed off of blatant eazy scams. No amount of money can make someone immune to this, it's all about educating yourself and building healthy habits aka application.

No, if you think that you can outsmart them they won't bite with that screenshot unless it's already reflected to the blockchain and has some confirmations.

You may try but IMO, you can't outsmart them. But just make sure that you won't give them any penny or just stop wasting your time on them.

This is wrong my friend, they shouldn't have put you under all this stress, they are only playing with you and you are falling for it. It is not the first time that exchanges would scam or want to scam their customers, and this is a good reason why we should not take the saying: "Not Your Coin, Not Your Money" lightly. Exchanges are fraudulent especially if the money is big enough, it is you who should have guarded against that.

Asking you to pay the tax of $65,000. Did you default in tax in your country tax, and how did they know? Why would they be the ones to pay your pax for you? But if it is pax payment is at their end, what is your business paying such a tax? Still telling you to deposit $ 20,000 in addition, and you did? C'mon, you really fell for their bait.

As it is now, I can think of nothing other than playing you and defrauding you, you have no business with Trustwallet in this case. Well, you can probably only get your money back by calling them out via different channels on social media. Just get ready with all the proof you can gather. You can also get it back through a lawsuit. You can even charge them with damages in addition if you have the resources to do so.
