I've seen many Layer-Two networks built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. From Arbitrum to Optimism and zkSync, there's an alternative for everyone. The most recent one is the Base network. I'm wondering which L2 network is best? Or which one has the biggest ecosystem of dApps? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

My personal opinion is probably arbitrum because the purpose of arbitrum's creation was designed to increase scalability on the Ethereum blockchain. with arbitrum we can do all the things we do on ethereum with cheaper and very fast transaction fees What do you think?

I don't know men. Their end goal is almost identical to each other which is solving L1's issue with scalability and fees. It's hard to keep up and go into the technical details so I guess it will all come down to trusting which team will continue to innovate and which one brings the most value when it comes to profitability. I had to put trust there since their platform is supposed to be trustless and decentralized.

even though they might implement some quirks on their end, its L2 at the end of the day so honestly if we are talking about which is the best well what thing should we use to determine which L2 blockchain are the best. if its fee, it is dynamically changing and depends on how congested a network is, i remember arbitrum reaching high fee compared with the other as well as zksync having high fee as high as $5 for a transaction back then where I think thats really high enough but turns out the culprit was because ethereum transaction fee is high so these L2 follow that fee increase since they need to submit the transactions data into main blockchain ethereum.
personally if i were to choose i would choose optimism, it just overall truly convenient already being adopted by many omnichain dapps, and the fee rarely i see nowaday spiking high and instead it is very cheap. though arguably these days the other L2 are already very cheap as well, not to mention the upcoming L2 that gonna be releasing like linea and so on.

I'm using 10s of L2 network and I think I can answer it. BSC still tops in terms of ecosystem, it's quick and works as intended, it has largest and growing collection of dapps including dex, games, defi and NFTs. I've stopped using Arbitrum and Optimism as they require ETH as gas. Wrapped ETH on the specific network are cheap to transact but it's a trouble for transacting and getting the ETH wrapped. Among L2 with cheaper transaction fees, I used to use polygon but for some reason, the transactions are slow. So I switched my preference to Fantom where everything works fast and the transaction fees are a fraction of a cent.

For me, I will go with the highest TVL layer 2 network chain, which is the Arbitrum. I am also actively using Arbitrum, that's why I chose it. I am using it therefore I am satisfied and able to achieve what I want to happen. Although, there are already lot of layer 2 networks right now which most of the platform support especially DeFi, I still choose Arbitrum.

Talking about the best L2 network above Ethereum Chain, it's no doubt BSC is the leader. They have the most users, most dapps and most volume locked. But they are old and has their own disadvantages and there's a fierce competition from new generation L2 networks and it's just a matter of time for BNB chain to be absolute. Among the new comers, the most promising which already has deployed dapps is zksync, they have theoretically the best technology to lead the future of on chain transaction. And they blow away all of other L2 options currently on use. It don't mean they'll be the ultimate winner as the competition would keep on increasing as new technology are applied.

Arbitrium is the largest but the fees can be higher. I think polygon has the lowest fees. Last time I used polygon the fee to send some ETH around was probably 1/3rd of a penny. Only issue is that you need to hold matic because it’s the native token on that chain.
Zksync is fairly new and the fees are similar to Arbitrum. They might have an airdrop so you can use their network and might get some money in the future as a result. They all seem good to me these days.

Define best? Best in terms of what? If we're talking about ecosystem size though, definitely Arbitrum and Optimism. Polygon should be #1 in terms of ecosystem size, but I don't think it's technically an L2 yet. It's currently more of a pseudo L2. Check this out: https://defillama.com/chains

I had a previous thread about L2 speculation, you can refer back to it maybe the data has changed but in general they will still be the ones that get the most attention. There are some that are in the mannet and testnet stages that I think are quite competitive in this field but I have not updated them yet. Detail: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5465917

Competiton is getting tougher each day between the most popular ETH-based L2 networks. I'm talking about both Arbitrum and Optimism. The former has the highest TVL, but that could change in the future. Especially now that Optimism started to gain traction with the inception of Coinbase's Base network. Between zk-Rollups and Optimistic Rollups, I'm yet to see which tech is best. Exciting times ahead for ETH. With Danksharding on the way, on-chain fees should become lower over time. One would've hoped BTC would get as many L2 networks as ETH. At least, the competition is healthy. Define best? Best in terms of what? If we're talking about ecosystem size though, definitely Arbitrum and Optimism. Polygon should be #1 in terms of ecosystem size, but I don't think it's technically an L2 yet. It's currently more of a pseudo L2. Check this out: https://defillama.com/chainsBest in terms of the largest ecosystem of dApps, tokens, and/or services. I've once thought Polygon was a sidechain instead of an L2 network. Same for Polkadot. I wonder if many of the networks we see today, will die in the long run?

The second layer aims to solve problems that cannot be implemented on the main network, such as scalability to millions of transactions every second, or fees close to zero, or a privacy layer, or anything whose implementation is limited in the main network, such as merging more than one blockchain/token in the same blockchain, such as Wrapped. These are the main reasons. To use the second networks. Some people invest in the second layer because some features may lead to an increase in the price, so these tokens are viewed as a good investment.

I'm wondering which L2 network is best? Or which one has the biggest ecosystem of dApps? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Great question! The choice between Layer-Two (L2) networks often depends on various factors, including specific use cases, scalability needs, and developer preferences. Each L2 solution has its unique strengths. Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, and Base Network all bring something valuable to the table. Arbitrum and Optimism, for instance, focus on optimistic rollups, while zkSync utilizes zk-rollups for enhanced privacy and scalability. Base Network, being a newer player, has its own set of features and innovations. Determining the "best" L2 network can be subjective and context-dependent. It often boils down to the specific requirements of your decentralized application (dApp). For the broadest ecosystem of dApps, Ethereum's mainnet is still a powerhouse, but L2 networks are catching up fast. Consider factors like ease of development, gas cost efficiency, and community support when making your choice. It's also beneficial to monitor the ongoing developments and partnerships within each network. Remember, the "best" L2 solution might vary from project to project.

In terms of adoption arbitrum is the number one but in terms of technology Manta can be considered the best right now. They have used all the best technology on the market to make a Layer 2 that is faster than layer 1 and more cost-effective than other layer 2. That means its transaction cost is lower than most of the other layer 2 in the market. Base and Linea seem good to me but Manta is superior to those two in my opinion. There are a few other layer 2 coming to market that i am keeping an eye on, especially one called Eclipse which is using SVM which is faster than EVM.

In term of TVL, arbitrum is still leading the best L2 with biggest TVL on its blockchain.
In term of transfer fees, manta is the best one for me.
In term of ecosystem, i do like optimism coz it was offering the most convenient ecosystem for the users. Since there are many blockchains have not been listed but i just try to mention those blockchains caused by they were the best.
Scroll and zksycn were not cheap enough to be called as scalability solution for ethereum. I would like to see that another L2 to be launched soon like blast. Manta has been successfully trending on the market..
It has got massive gain in 24h. There will be more adoption to come on manta. Blast probably becomes the next one.

The only downside is that you need to pay a high on-chain fee each time you want to get in or out of the L2 network. I guess that's what's holding most people back. Believe me, you wouldn't want to use the main ETH blockchain again after experiencing the benefits of an L2 network. I've used the Base network myself and the results were impressive. Only paid $0.08 for swapping ETH to USDC on Uniswap with Base. Transfers between accounts are usually less than $0.01 too. Imagine how cheaper it will be to get into an L2 network once ETH developers go full speed ahead with the Danksharding upgrade. It'll cause an upsurge in demand for the cryptocurrency. Exciting times ahead for ETH. I'd suggest you keep buying and holding it for the next "pump". It may never be worth $2.5k ever again.

I agree, last part, Ethereum will be the most beneficial because of these layer-2 networks. Another tip I can say that avoid some ecosystem tokens in some layer-2 networks, I can say holding the layer-2 token itself than other ecosystem tokens is much better for me, just my 2 cents.

I can't tell you which one is the best but in my opinion, they all do the same thing to make things better than layer 1, for now I think they are all the same because their goals are almost the same, but in terms of funding there are differences, I think zksync gets the largest funding to date.
