Do you think it would be worth creating one?
If there is such a group offline, it is better you are not a member of such a group. If there is not a group like that, do not start one especially if in your country, bitcoins are still considered illegal. The government may be looking for a scape goat, and your name because of your involvement in this kind of group can just make you a scapegoat. Satoshi has remained anonymous for a reason, do not try to be a matyr.
Bitcoin talk is the best example. That is why its web address is Bitcointalk.org simply Because the org signifies it is an organization of Bitcoiners.
It is not a formal organization, our identities are still private, we do not operate offline and even out the website as an organization. An organization that is actively promoting bitcoin will have offline programs to promote bitcoins, and very known identities.
You can support bitcoin on a personal level but be concerned for your safety if it is very illegal in your country to promote bitcoins as a currency for use.

What kind of organizations are you particularly referring to? And by promote, what do you specifically mean?

There have been non-government organizations that accept Bitcoin donations for humanitarian purposes, for example. Do they count as organizations that promote or support Bitcoin as a currency? There are also academic organizations like universities that also accept Bitcoin donations. Do they count? By accepting Bitcoin as donations for their operations and development, they probably support it as a currency already.

There's, for example, Human Rights Foundation that strongly supports Bitcoin. There are also non-government organizations that are Bitcoin-centered like South Africa's Bitcoin Ekasi.

This forum already supports Bitcoin as a currency, so what you're looking for? supports Bitcoin as a currency doesn't mean you must and only use Bitcoin as a currency, as long as you ever spent Bitcoin directly to pay something, you're already use Bitcoin as a currency.

If you want a group or organization that use Bitcoin to pay anything for daily life, you need to buy an island first and create your own Bitcoin's country.

Hm, that's a surprisingly difficult question. Perhaps the problem is with the word "support" which can mean so many things. Another issue is with supporting Bitcoin as a currency (whether the op means to emphasize Bitcoin as money vs Bitcoin as an asset or is just stating as a fact that Bitcoin is a currency). I agree with replies about El Salvador and the gambling industry, as well as about this forum. I'm sure there are also crypto lobbyists that work on convincing the legislators to legalize Bitcoin in various countries, which, I suppose, should count as support. In a way, any business that accepts Bitcoin supports it as a currency.
I tried looking for NGOs that promote Bitcoin, but I only found info about organizations that accept donations in Bitcoin, rather than those dedicated to Bitcoin as a cause.

Do you think it would be worth creating one?

Bitcoin talk is the best example. That is why its web address is Bitcointalk.org simply Because the org signifies it is an organization of Bitcoiners.

The first thing that came to mind was The OP came to the very Bitcoin support center; the forum brought together people who support and spread information about Bitcoin. Is it necessary to create something that is already in great demand? On the Internet now, information about Bitcoin is contained in many resources, groups, communities, and countries that have allowed payment in Bitcoin. I think that “the bicycle was invented a long time ago.”
But, of course, the fact is that we can all use Bitcoin as a currency; we can, but we don’t want to, understanding its even greater value, and we prefer to keep it, although if normal commissions were returned, many would be happy to pay if they wanted.

I suppose that as non-governmental organization, they surely exist, but their scope may be limited to the environment in which they develop.

Then, any group of people who form an alliance and send information works as such, bitcoin.org is the first one I know, then there is the BTT forum.

I'm not sure what the future holds, but there is a belief that bitcoin will become more accepted, but considering it a currency is still outside the realm of speculation to me.

Thank you for all of the great responses to this topic.

Bitcoin's value comes from the idea that it can be used as a currency.  The transformative power of Bitcoin as a currency is far reaching.  It can change every aspect of our lives for the better if we use it the way it was intended.

I would like to find a group of people who believe that Bitcoin is a decentralized "purely peer-to-peer digital cash system" with a limited supply and are willing to stand up for that.

From what I know, I can't assure of any organization or institution that promote the use of bitcoin as a currency. The only group or organization I know about is the forum. The forum accepts bitcoin as a means of payment. But then beware of scammers to avoid stories. Trade with verified members. With time civilization will make many organizations promote bitcoin.

Tricky question.

How do you define support towards Bitcoin? Is it only promotional, as you said?

In my opinion, the way to "support" Bitcoin is to scale it, running as many nodes and miners as we can. I don't think there is anything else that can be done to support bitcoin. But I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Finally, there is El Salvador that uses Bitcoin as a formal currency (not the primary currency but rather the secondary currency).

Makes sense. Support for Bitcoin comes in different flavors. Some promote it, others dive into the technical side by running nodes and miners. El Salvador even uses it as an official currency. It's a mix of promotion, tech involvement  and real-world adoption that shapes Bitcoin support

A user group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as a currency could be beneficial.
https://thegivingblock.com/resources/nonprofits-accepting-crypto-donations/

Crypto ATMs & Merchants map

Donate your bitcoins to trusted groups, organizations. I don't say all new groups or organizations are scam but if you want to make sure your donation is used well, you must donate it to old and trusted ones.

Creating a new group or organization is easy and the challenge is how to convince people to trust you. From your side, maintaining good and transparent operation is not easy.
