Drawbacks of close source?

You don't know what's happening behind the scenes and what the developers are doing. I'm not saying Exodus is doing that, but you can't know for sure that the team is not saving your seedphrase, or private keys without your knowledge, or if there's is backdoor.

An example of something similar happening is Atomic wallet. Multiple user's wallets have been hacked recently when the wallet claimed to be "non-custodial", how could this have happened when there is no centralized server that holds the private keys like it is the case with exchanges?

Is there a wallet that stores more than one crytpo on your desktop?

There are many types of crypto wallets that you can use on your desktop or even just with your smartphone. Most of these are online wallets or hot wallets. You can use google to search for the wallet you want or ask for suggestions here in this thread. Hot wallets mean that these crypto wallets are connected to the internet, and they are great for traders or investors of altcoins. However, if you are a long-term holder, you can use a cold wallet. This type of wallet is offline, like trezor or ledger nano. providing greater security against hacking.

Is there a wallet that stores more than one crytpo on your desktop?

I have installed several desktop wallets that can store lots of coins, not just one type, there is an Exodus wallet, Guarda wallet, and atomic wallet, there is also a Waves wallet but it seems the last one has changed or is no longer available.
I have uninstalled all the wallets and only use Electrum for Bitcoin and Atomic for altcoins, atomic no longer stores coins there because the network costs are quite high in my opinion so it is not friendly enough.

If you want to store any altcoins then you can use Metamusk Browser Extension. You can hold more than one HUGE amount of altcoins here. But if you want to hold Bitcoin then Electrum wallet will be best for you. Because it is considered a Bitcoin secure wallet.
You meant Metamask wallet. Second is that someone should not hold huge amount of coins on an online wallet. If the amount of coins is huge and also for many coins and tokens, the best is to get a hardware wallet. One of the best hardware wallet that can be gotten is Trezor. Trezor is supporting bitcoin and many altcoins.

Although, if it is a bitcoin only wallet, Electrum can be used as a cold storage wallet. Also is Sparrow and some other reputed bitcoin wallet.

Very true but if you want to hold your huge funds on an online wallet, you would just have to be super duper careful or would you still say that no matter the carefulness you are prone to be hacked, or whatsoever? Like using Metamask, there are rules I follow like ensuring that I do not have any untrusted extension, I do not have any untrusted tabs open, I do not have apps that I do not know on my computer. These are the ways that I know one’s wallet can be hacked.

Well I store my altcoins on Metamask and Bitcoin on Electrum apps, using those two already made me comfortable when moving my balance to other exchange. Until now I never faced a problem with those two except for a mistake I made myself when I opened a website I didn't check if it real website or phishing in the end I login to Metamask the phishing website and lost all my funds.

You can check for the top Desktop wallet here for reference: https://coinledger.io/tools/best-crypto-wallet

A lot are depending on what your coins can be and what chain it is because there are different wallets like
  • Phantom Wallet
  • Meta Mask
  • Ronin

There are a lot but that's just from the top of my head. That would depend on what you will do with crypto.

Most of the answers I have read from the Op question, have not answered it. Though some are good. Op asked a simple question which is in the below quote.

Is there a wallet that stores more than one crytpo on your desktop?

and I don't think there is such wallet does exist, we are talking about one wallet hodling different cryptocurrency inside.

Please read other replies in the thread before posting nonsense.

I think it is not possible. All the projects (coins) has their own wallet to hodle their coin. And if Op is looking for a wallet that he can use to hold or store his coin on a desktop computer, then, it would be a wallet like "Trustwallet" because in Trustwallet there are different wallet addresses which one can use to store different cryptos but even at that the coin can't be stored in one wallet but in separate wallets. Therefore I don't know where one wallet can be used to store different cryptos.

I'm sure he meant wallet software, not a single network (blockchain) wallet. But even if it is the latter, your statement is still not true. There are numerous wallets that support multiple crypto assets. For example, most wallets that communicate with the Ethereum blockchain support multiple crypto assets (tokens) on a single address. ETH, USDT, USDC, DAI, SHIB... to name a few.

I am not an expert or wallet analysis and I made my comment base on the Op content and not other people replies. And if you understand my comment I made mentioned of "Trustwallet" which can be used to store more cryptos with different addresses I don't know where my comment is nonsense and not truth. Well in life everyone has their own way of understanding. And apart from Trustwallet, one can use unstoppable wallet as well. I made the comment base on the Op please.

I believe I have explained clearly enough why I find your comment nonsensical. Read my reply again if you didn't understand it the first time.

By the way, Unstoppable wallet doesn't exist in desktop version. I don't know why you even bring it up since the OP was pretty specific about that.

IMO, Exodus, and Electrum for desktop wallet are enough.
Exodus for altcoins and I always separate Bitcoin on Electrum, I feel safe and convenient to use if I separate them because different cryptocurrencies have distinct addresses, formats, and transaction types, and keeping them in separate wallets reduces the likelihood of making mistakes, such as sending Bitcoin to an altcoin address or vice versa.

, you can use electrum cold storage wallet, and generate your keys on an air gapped device.
Is this a physical device like a usb?

Cake Wallet is an option to consider (https://cakewallet.com/).

Atomic for altcoins,

[Trustwallet, one can use unstoppable wallet as well.

Do these  offer different wallet addresses which one can use to store different cryptos  i.e. coin can't be stored in one wallet but in separate wallets.

No it is not. You can use an old PC or an old phone to set up your cold storage wallet, but after you must have downloaded the app from electrum website. You disable your internet, before generating your keys, and you will never connect that wallet to the internet again.

You will create a watch only wallet that you can use to monitor, sign, and broadcast transactions.

Cake Wallet is an option to consider (https://cakewallet.com/).
Do these  offer different wallet addresses which one can use to store different cryptos  i.e. coin can't be stored in one wallet but in separate wallets.

I haven't used it much myself (except for testing and review only), but according to the features listed on the official website it has full support for separate wallets, subaddresses, and accounts!

Are the list below  HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallets already? i.e. I need it to generate new addresses for both receiving and sending transactions.
Feather for Monero
trustwallet
Atomic for alt coins
Cake wallet

Is there a wallet that stores more than one crytpo on your desktop?
There are too many of them but if you're going to store with huge amounts of these cryptos, then you'd better be putting them on a hardware wallet.

Because majority of the multicurrency wallets are closed source and that's why it's better to choose them.

Samurai
Samourai is a known one and please check always the spelling or characters if they're the correct one because you might download the wrong one.

I think most people use wallets from their desktop, it’s convenient and simple, but your workplace should be as secure as possible. When downloading software wallets in the form of applications (hot), you need to carefully double-check the supplier of this application and the address from where you are downloading. I use electrum for storing btc, and metamask for altcoins, everything works correctly.

In my opinion, there are now many multi wallets that can store lots of crypto coins, not just focusing on one type of coin, for example trust wallets. But be careful, the security of your investment depends on you keeping the key well so you don't lose the assets you have

There are multiple wallets out there that can store not only bitcoin but also other cryptocurrencies and while other wallets have some slight advantages over other wallets depending on the coin or example there would be some wallets that are specifically suited for a particular coin

But generally what is recommended where you could buy and hold more than one cryptocurrency is exodus and trezor

Both wallets are secure and safe and functions accordingly to my needs but you must find what other wallet works for you
