I think that probably just at that moment they realize that we are talking about personal things, that shouldn't be shared with people. In a certain way I can also understand why some people ask this kind of questions: if you're not into bitcoin probably you don't take it seriously and you struggle to understand that it's money, so it's private.
Sure, if someone is aware about the personal data, he won't share it to other people. Personal data isn't something available for sharing, we must keep it secretly. So if people ask about the number of our Bitcoin, just ignore the question. It is not a proper question to answer, we can suspect there is something wrong with the people. The number of Bitcoin and the amount of money in the bank account, are 2 secret things that should be forbidden to share with other people.

I just wanted to share a piece of advice that I learned early on from Andreas Antonopoulos (if you don't know whom this is, I highly recommend looking up his YouTube page and watching his videos and or reading his book Mastering Bitcoin) never tell anyone how much bitcoin you have. Andreas use to say it's not our job to teach everyone we know about bitcoin, letting them know we own some "Let that be my job" he would say.
Telling someone how much Bitcoin you have is obviously rude because it's the same as telling them how much money you have in your bank account. These people can cause a lot of problems for you because you never know who you will give your secret to. Alternatively, you might say that while the person is filming, he might share the video online and you have no idea how many thousands of people will watch it. Since a smile is only on the face and we have no idea what is really going through people's minds, we should exercise caution when doing things or disclosing our secrets to others. It's as if you were disclosing your secret to the world and they might start looking for your investment in an attempt to con you.

People don't need to know about our Bitcoin. There is no advantage that we share the information about our Bitcoin to others. If we want someone to know it, we just share the information to the very close people (wife, children, parents). The secret data about the Bitcoin shouldn't be easy to share to others. If you keep telling people about the Bitcoin that you're holding, one day the people you told about your Bitcoin will plan evil for you. People are looking at people that own Bitcoin as very rich individuals because of the way Bitcoin has been rising and being on the news for giving investors profits. You might just be investing in Bitcoin recently but as you tell you friends that you have Bitcoin they might think that you have being holding Bitcoin for a very long time and your have made big amount of profits. Don't tell anybody about your investment so you don't becomes a victim of attack. Keep holding your Bitcoin and only tell your family members that involves your wife and children so if your suddenly pass away they can get access to your investment and not suffer when you have money in your investment that's growing. It's quite inappropriate to tell others about your investment hand not even the closet person to you, this is because when we talk about money, most especially in an overhyped asset like Bitcoin, many have misconceptions about Bitcoin investment and this is because of the lack of knowledge on what Bitcoin really is and how best to handle it as an asset. You are right when you say that, when people know that you own Bitcoin, they will think you have a lot of money, and not want to know how much of Bitcoin you actually own. Bitcoin investment has to be done with high privacy and one of the unique features of Bitcoin is that it doesn't have a physical representative and at that, you only give people access to your Bitcoin holding informantions only when you want to do so if not, you can remain anonymous forever.

Someone who keeps Bitcoins in their Wallet should learn from Satoshi Nakamoto attitude. Even though Bitcoin is starting to be widely adopted almost all over the world, he still adheres firmly to his principle of keeping his identity anonymous. Bitcoin is a valuable asset like gold and other property, whoever owns it has the responsibility to look after it well.
You have the right not to answer questions like that, maybe it's just a trap for them to find out how many assets you store in Bitcoin. Satoshi intelligence in maintaining the security of his identity must be followed by all investors who store Bitcoin in their wallets. Close the space that could endanger yourself and your assets by not telling anyone how much Bitcoin you store.

Ah great I thought it was only me who had been asked about how many bitcoins I own. This question was asked after we had discussion about how bitcoin is good investment. Peeps dont talk about how bitcoin is goo investment or why is it good investment opportunity? They will straight go to the question how much you own or how much worth is it! That is actually funny. But anyways, I usually end up telling them that I keep buying bits now and then so that I can follow the strategy of DCAing making me good returns over the period of time. I really think that its none of anyones business to ask how much we own, what they gonna do about it?

Andreas use to say it's not our job to teach everyone we know about bitcoin, letting them know we own some "Let that be my job" he would say.
I see so many people that come around here sharing how much bitcoin they own...don't. Just like any of your finances such as your portfolio or how much your annual salary is..it's no one's business but your own. Being transparent about these things can be harmful to you in a multitude of ways. As an advisor this is something I tell my clients all the time. Your financial info is private and should always remain that way. I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!
Personally I really enjoy reading success stories here on the forum. It's nice to see how other people got into crypto currencies and how they overcome their own struggles. For me these stories are not really so much about how many bitcoins someone owns today, but rather about people that believe in something and follow their strategies. If someone takes the risk of buying bitcoin than he should also be rewarded for that. I am not going to look at someone differently just because he owns 10 bitcoins and is bragging with that publicly. It's the same like meeting a person that directly tells you he is a millionaire, this is not something I care about and I don't see any benefit of sharing that information publicly. Because I don't even know if the information is true, and if it's true then this just puts a target on your back. There might be people that want to take advantage of your wealth and this could lead to big problems.

If you want to keep yourself safe, you should not tell people not only about Bitcoin but also about other assets. There are many friends who will try to harm you after seeing your success.
However, I don't tell people how much bitcoin I have. No one knows that I have invested in Bitcoin, my parents know but not how much I have invested. But taught my wife about Bitcoin. Told my wife not to tell anyone about bitcoin. I have not shared the wallet privacy with anyone, keeping it to myself.
You should not tell your wife about your Bitcoin investment because she might leave you at your peril and break up the relationship but you should tell your more deeply related like parents about your investment because at your peril your parents will leave you. won't go Moreover, if you talk about your private matters to your wife, your wife will not be able to protect your privacy because the matter of keeping the privacy between wives is not a secret for long. Therefore, at any moment, your wife will share your private matters with others.

You don't trust your wife? instead of hiding this to your wife much better if you educate well regarding bitcoin is so useful for them and how they can earn with it since once she understand about it for sure he would let you do your thing there. Also for sure she support you with all things done. Also what if there's something bad happen to you? then all of your bitcoins will be lost since no one can locate it. That's why discuss it and make her understand the risk so that he can keep all things in private. To dumb for people to share any critical information and they will put their life in harm especially if they declare the amount they have, I believe no insane people will do that.

them: "how many bitcoin do you have?" me: "how much money do you have in your bank account?"
I don't share much to people when it comes to how many bitcoins I have but when I do tell them I'm into bitcoin and they ask me this question, I'm stumped at how to answer the question because I don't want to be rude and dismiss them, I'm the kind of person that wants answers to my questions so I try my best to embody that by doing the same thing when people ask me questions and I might use this as an answer to them but to me this seems a bit too stern and might come off as rude, maybe if they don't take too much offense about it, I'll just explain to them that I'm just asking the same thing. My go to line whenever I'm asked with this is that it's a private thing and it's not really for them to know anyway, luckily all of those people understood what I'm saying.

Therefore, in order to monitor it and be able to detect if someone tried to log in without my permission, I would always allow two-factor authentication on my account. Thus, in my opinion, it is essential that we exercise caution when responding to requests for personal details that are not asked for or inquire about our cryptocurrency activities. We should also be sure to verify the authenticity of anyone wanting access to our funds. I agree with what you're saying that we should not provide our personal information to third parties because we are accountable for security assets.

But if you talk about not trusting your wife, I want to ask you, why did you marry her if you don't trust her? Also, when you get married do you live with your parents or with your wife? Who will take care of your children, who will be by your side when you are sick or in trouble? It's funny that there are many married people who don't trust their wives, which means they don't trust their own choices and they themselves aren't trustworthy. If investing in bitcoin causes division and creates suspicion between husband and wife, is investing in bitcoin a good thing?

It's okay to tell the wife about our Bitcoin investments. After all, she is our wife, and she should know about our actions. We can tell him not to tell other people we have Bitcoin, even if they are close friends. We choose who needs to know about our Bitcoin investment to avoid bad people who want to harm us. With mutual understanding between you and your wife, we can keep each other's secrets about Bitcoin investments and will not tell other people we don't know.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a must-have security measure, and I support it. I think this basic but formidable barrier is essential to cybersecurity. Skepticism when asked for personal information is crucial. I always think attentiveness is required. Its wise and necessary to verify requests and credentials for fund access. We must be educated and proactive as caretakers of our digital riches. Supporting Bitcoin means promoting security knowledge and resilience, not only as a currency or investment. Sometimes, people who ask questions like that are just curious about how many Bitcoins we have with the excuse of getting them more excited. However, for some people, this question is quite disturbing. Yes, this is the same as someone asking how much money you have at home, how many assets, and so on. However, when someone asks a question like that, I will not give a direct answer, and only provide motivation for them to start doing business or investing.

One of the best feature of hodling Bitcoin is it anonymity and I don't see any reason why I would disclose my asset to anyone probably to impress or brag about my fortune, infact telling people wouldn't add any value to my asset rather it's a danger especially in countries with high rate of crime doing so could lead to kidnappers taking advantage, personally I am an introvert and I have no reason to reveal to anyone my hard earned asset, truly I knew few people who always brag about their physical assets definitely such people if they have huge Bitcoin in their wallet they would definitely reveal their asset just to get respect from other people which is absolutely uncall for.

Personal documents should never be shared with anyone. Because personal documents are very important thing. and the thing about Bitcoin is that it carries a person's financial status. And financial matters should never be shared with anyone else. Because only the private key is needed to transfer bitcoins. So you should never share with anyone how many bitcoins you are holding

It will be absolute madness to brag about our Bitcoin portfolio, as currently every body becomes a suspect. The world is now inevitably corrupt with even those we regard as friends, I believe Nakamoto always wanted this anonymity that is the reason he raised everything into a decentralized platform, so everything we do with our funds should remain hidden to friends and some family members.

People asking about your Bitcoin holdings isn't necessarily about disbelief. It's often genuine curiosity fueled by the novelty and rapid rise of crypto. It's like asking someone who owns a vintage car about its value, even if you don't plan on buying one yourself. The misconception that Bitcoin isn't "real money" highlights a lack of understanding about its underlying technology and potential use cases. It's not just about speculation or get-rich-quick schemes. While volatility exists, so does in traditional markets. The key is to approach it with knowledge and a long-term perspective. Focusing solely on how much Bitcoin someone owns misses the bigger picture. The true value lies in the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize various sectors, from finance to supply chain management. It's about innovation and exploring new possibilities.
