Is the man a gambler? I think this is not about gambling if we so not know if the man is a gambler or not. You know how people can think, in a selfish way. I also always prefer to send money to the person that is in need of money, but if someone ask for help because of his wife, I think I can give it to that person that ask for help. But if the person is a gambling addict, I will prefer to send the money to his wife account. Some people prefer to send the money to the victim account just because he want the victim to know the actual amount that he sent because her husband can tell her a wrong amount. Probably the person that will give a financial assistance have an idea that husband has a gambling problem history. It’s possible since you will only ask a loan to a person that you knew personally that’s why the lender has an idea that he has a tendency to gamble the funds.

There’s also a chance that their country or location is saturated by gambling activity that’s why men is always branded as a gambler especially if money is involved. I have a neighborhood like this during my childhood which almost grownup men is doing gambling. People casually branding all men is involved on gambling whenever they are borrowing money to other people.

It is very common between men who are suffering for gambling addiction and most times will be hard to control because they always thinks of doubling any money that comes into their hands without thinking to settle the main issues the money was sent for before thinking on how to utilize the money. The thing is when money gets into gamblers hand for something very serious, what they will think is for the multiplication of that money is then they would start thinking about sure odds and correct scores to me it's sucking to see these categories of men who doesn't care about their family's health and wellbeing instead they think of how to satisfy their gambling desire by endangering the health of their wife at the hospital.

 You can actually tell the kind of person that you are dealing with when you send them money as you trying to help them and in the end they use the money for something else entirely those kind of people cannot be trusted,  there was a similar story like this that is currently happening around my home right now I have a family member that is living with me and he always ask me for help but sometimes I don't feel like helping him because I knew is going to go back and use the money for gambling I believe that he knew that I may not help him that is why he lied as if he is trying to use the money for something else entirely.

There is nothing you can tell me about gamblers that I don't know and when someone is addicted to gambling there is no way they can be trusted, they are already used to lying a lot, a addicted gambler are not very used to saying the truth so if you know that someone is into gambling and they come seeking for your help just know that they are not telling you, if they come looking for help, just tell them to move on or help them knowing that they are heading for a casino.
This type of habit is why some people are refusing to help addicted people especially if they are addicted to alcohol or drugs or even gambling, h such people cannot be trusted and you are just wasting your money trying to help such people this is also why many people believe that gamblers are not serious type of people and I can't blame them, they have all the right to say such things about gamblers because addiction is scary.

The man did the right thing. I guess the man knows the husband. The husband can be someone that do misuse money, especially if he is a gambler. That may not be the complete amount of money needed and he can think the man can think of doubling the money and gamble with it. It would be unfortunate if he gamble with his wife life. Using money needed for a terminal illness to gamble and not caring about your wife health condition it is the worse a person can do and apparently the person in charge of registering money assumed that the man insisting on giving his details instead of his wife may be an avid gambler and that was a risky move.I applaud such gesture in our time.

Gambling is synonymous with men, so it is natural for donors to worry that the funds given to their husbands will be used up on gambling. Meanwhile, his position and situation are very precarious, where his wife really needs these funds to pay hospital bills and pay for medicine. The donor only wants to ensure that what they give is actually used properly. But I think if he was really worried about the amount of money he was given, why didn't he pay it directly to the hospital? So that there will be no suspicion between each other, however, later when the funds are sent to the wife's account, the husband will still be the one who will take the money, either through a bank or local ATM because the wife's condition is very serious and she can only lie in bed. , so how could the wife take the money. Chosen gambling over your wife's health is practically being stupid. That is not an addiction that's foolishness. Even an addicted gambler won't do that in that situation. It just pained me how people are showing how crazy and foolish they can be in reality. They make bad decisions and hinder the happiness and life others then later blame it all on addiction. Am more concerned because people take the word addiction using it as an excuse to do bad stuff. Imagine someone open a random fire in the street killing individuals then later he would say he was an addict in alcohol or drugs.

Mehn these persons are psychopath and they should be taken to where people with that disabilities are. Or however be eliminated from the society. I dont think it should be tolerated anymore.

There is an appearance that you will see and immediately your instinct will tell you that person is lacking money, so sometimes those who are addict gamblers look unkept and street like even in terms of manner of approach.

Therefore even if that helper didn't know the man already, the man might have shown himself in those manners that speak of him as someone who is in need of money and believe me, it is an instinct thing that if you have discerning mind or spirit you can tell if a man needs money. No body wants to give money to someone that won't make use of it and moreover, hardly would a man give his money to another man 

Consequently, the helper wasn't comfortable with the approach of the husband and so he wanted to be sure the wife knew he redeemed the money to her. It is only a careless person that won't care if money that was meant for a sick person won't be used for that purpose, so it is normal to want to be sure the money went to the right person. I think the husband's appearance, approach and other behaviour as peculiar to gambling addicts called him out. Probably, he is unkept and also on drugs.

it is possible actually. the addict's judgment is already clouded. we've all heard of the story of a drug addict whose willing to sell their grandma's coochie so they could snort again. this addiction is not so different from the gambling addict.

anyone who would offer financial assistance will also think the funds should go as intended. the stranger knows the money might just be used for gambling.  an addict would do terrible things for his addiction.

I mean, people who like to offer help don't react like that in an instant just because they think the man is a gambler. Maybe at some part, they knew each other or bumped in a place where the man who offered help saw him gambling.

I also know people who asked for help from their wives but I mostly send the money directly to the wife not because I know their husbands but because their wives are not strangers to me too. Most of my friends, I met their wives at some point so it's not difficult for me to talk to them.
But if it's for a stranger like in the story, I might do the same as the helper did. It's the safest route and not because I don't trust the man, I don't know them both so I'd rather send it directly to the lady who needs help.
It's true that the number of gamblers in this era is growing and trust issues will be a problem in cases like this. So I guess we should just send the help to reputable charities that offer help with this kind of problem.

I believe the lender has experienced that sort of thing before, because there`s no way that he would think the money would be used for gambling rather than the intended usage, which was medical care. There are other ways the money could have been misused, e.g., through drugs and so on, but yet he linked it to gambling. I think the lender is also involved in gambling for this to have happened.

I have been asked for help before; some I accepted and others I turned down, and not a single one has. I think the person might use it to gamble and lose.

i don't see that your story is related to gambling addiction, but nowadays, don't trust people too easily because we don't know whether the person is honest or not. especially nowadays, people often "sell" compassion to get money from other people, but the fact is that they use the money for their own pleasure. it's quite sad to see this, but that's what often happens in today's society.

People lending would want to be sure they get their money back with ease and people donating would want their money be used for good cause.
Most of the people seeking for private lending or aid are those who have very few options and it's seen that these group of people spend their money mostly on addiction like drugs, alcohol, prostitution or gambling. It may sound harsh but most of the beggers are lazy people that are deep into an addiction.
There's so much negative perspective towards seeking for money (begging) that even the people really suffering are called bad words.

Because gambling addicted individuals are well known for not fulfilling with their personal responsabilities and duties. It's common sense addicted gamblers have been using funds which were supposed to be used for daily expenses, basic needs to fuel their gambling habits along the time. People have seen and heard stories like this along their lives, so it's normal they are very suspicious of every addicted gamblers on their way, especially when having to donate or lend money to them.

In fact, it shouldn't be hard for the man to share his wife's personal details with the donator in order to receive funds for her health treatment. The question is, why did he give up on the donation once he concluded he couldn't receive the funds on his personal account? In my opinion it sounds shady enough, and only corroborate the donator took the right approach by asking for the woman account's details, instead of giving the money on the hands of the man.

Gambling addiction is serious, and this?? This is a firsthand look at the abyss that consumes addicts and their families. Are age, marriage, ethnicity, or faith relevant? Not them. This behavior is all-consuming and often targets men.

The man favoring his medical account above his wife's raises concerns. Why? Blinding addiction alters priorities. Losing yourself and your principles is more than losing money. Prudence, not paranoia, is when someone hesitates to direct cash to treatment. Addiction erodes trust. We're discussing trust, accountability, and gambling's gut-wrenching effects, not simply addiction. This is a societal failure, not simply some individual struggle. This must be faced with open eyes and tenacity.

Gambling addiction is a real issue and sadly while many governments profit from gambling (even from unlicensed or illegal one), they do nothing to provide their citizens with amenities they need for quitting addiction.

Honestly, any program against addiction in the world could use more funding in this moment. People are faced with very dire situations and if the programs to help those in need are underfunded, outreach is less likely to help those most in need, and also the programs have less tools and staff in their disposal due to funding being lacking. In my country alone a large percentage of the country's GDP was wagered in online casinos, and that's only the licensed ones. Households are being destroyed as we speak, but the government at the same time is cutting funding to centers that provide free counseling for addiction.

My concern is that this will just keep getting worse. Something needs to be done about it. Not only do we need to support our public health systems and infrastructure, which at the end of the day are funded with our own money, we also need to pressure our governments to take action.
