I think you've all heard this news
https://techcrunch.com/2024/02/28/telegram-is-launching-ad-revenue-sharing-next-month-using-toncoin/Previously, Telegram and Pavel Durov refused the TON token and said that this was a project in which the Telegram team was not involved. TON and SEC had a very tense relationship.
Now Paved Durov will pay rewards with “other people’s tokens”
I see 2 interesting points:
1. In some countries it is prohibited to make mutual payments in cryptocurrencies.
2. What does dada Gary Gensler have to say about this?
They didn't refuse the TON token per se, as they were totally involved developing it. They just cancelled the sale because of SEC ruling it a security, after that they published the source code, distanced themselves from it and let other people develop it further. And since TON community seems to support telegram by
offering grants for people who are developing telegram mini apps, i am assuming that this is a way Durov chose to repay that favor. And as the fact that this brings actual utility, it makes it most valuable collaboration for TON that i know of.
But his next post was interesting as well:
So depending how telegram chooses to acquire their TON coins from the markets, buy pressure could even be constant.
This is actually first good news i have heard about TON for a while. It doesn't make it special or interesting in any way to me, but it might affect the price of it in the future.
