I was juts scrolling through Binance new and I saw an airdrop from Pepe coin worth over 1 million dollar and I clicked on it to see how I can participate in this amazing airdrop as I read through i saw that this airdrop to participate in it I needed to send them a tip and I was wondering if Binance now promotes scam or if this is ledgit, does anyone have experience with this or should i bail.

Maybe sharing the direct link or at least screenshot will do? because i don't seem to remember or find anything in binance that ask tip first? have been using binance for years now but did not find such a way , or if there is better to report this in the team so they can act on it , sometimes there are bad elements that may have been abusing the chances and system.

A genuine and legit airdrop would the ask you to do some task, they will never ask you for any money. If you are talking about the tip button on Binance then it is not compulsory to tip the creator unless you like the content and want to tip him.

I've never heard or seen Binance do some kind of airdrop with money to spend, maybe you could attach a link to the page you're referring to so we can confirm it. What makes the most sense IMO is that you find this info on Binance Square which is another product of the Binance Exchange, Binance Square is the same as Medium where you can create articles about anything related to crypto. And you need to know that whatever the creators write there, it doesn't represent Binance.

I know that binance cannot showcase some kind of things in the market, if you can share the link here , I think it will be very easy for other investors to know if binance have started displaying some projects that will not allow their investors to make a good income in the future. Don't forget that scammers can create website to use some other company names just to draw the attention of other participants to join their projects, and they will not be happy with what they will experience at the end of the project. I will advice you to check other projects that you are very sure to invest your money because if you make your choice and go ahead to invest in that project, you will lose your capital.

I do not think that is how binance's airdrop works. You have to deposit or stake on their launchpool or vault for you to become eligible with any of their airdrop.

I cannot find that one on my Binance account, maybe it is just for some users if it is for real. But just to become eligible about tipping for their airdrop, I really do not think that it is a genuine way of counting participants as eligible for it.

Please put the link here or other details for us to see if it is real or not or likely a scam.

Well I do wanna helps how it works but I cant joined the airdrop process due to my region is restricted from participating. Too bad but I think the process is quite simple. Binance release airdrop that has simple task and many users can join on that so I think the airdrop isnt worth that much considering that many will join the activity.

I agree that if the OP can share the link of this project that he's talking about, then it can help us to understand better if it's a scam project or not, because without being specific, we'll just be in the dark and keep on guessing. I've never heard of an airdrop that'll ask you for tips first before being eligible, they'll give the perticipants tasks to carry out, also Binance is a reputable exchange and they'll not list a project that'll tarnish their image. So it still comes down to the OP being specific about this project, let him share the link.

Binance has been one of the reputable exchange such that thinking may they are now promoting scam can be very misleading probably ops misunderstood what he saw of which am also in support that he should share a link or picture of what he is talking about so that he can get a better response too as regards to his curiosity, and am likely saying that we should be very careful with some kind of post we are making too .

Well I have done many of the air drops and got many coins they did not make it worth it. So many of them are worth no btc you cant even sell them on the exchanges.
This does not look real for me. For me the reason for the air drop is to get free coins. Not to have to pay someone to get those coins.
I would not do something like this. I think even if it is for real it is not the right hing to make us do to send money for a air drop.

This is really difficult to explain. Binance would never promote any scam project neither allow cyber hackers to penetrate their system. Airdrops are free, if there should be anything to be done its just some few task like survey and sharing their project on social media for more people to know about them. In this case i will not conclude that this is scam yet. Since its coming from binance direct, but ill also not advise to send them a tip. Look for other free airdrops that are legit and avoid this one. There are so many airdrops out there it is not criterion you should participate in this one.

seems to make sense. it would be hard for a project to emerge since more people are going to sell this project every time the token pumps a bit. but i saw they did an airdrop of tokens worth $1M.  

what OP is referring is probably the old airdrop. i don't know why he wouldn't share the link here when anyone could actually see it from binance when searched.
whatever airdrop is there as long as it doesn't cost anything, i think everyone will want to participate. who knows the token could skyrocket right when its listed.

A genuine and legit airdrop would the ask you to do some task, they will never ask you for any money. If you are talking about the tip button on Binance then it is not compulsory to tip the creator unless you like the content and want to tip him.  

If this is what Op is pointing then indeed tip is not mandatory instead it is given on your own  choice , am not sure where or what OP is tending to ask here because he did not give any screenshot about the said issue but i believe that  if ever this is inside Binance ? then this must not be inside their site because of not so good to their platform having asking tip before anything goes.

I know Binance is one of the best exchanges currently.  Usually airdrops are carried out for free and without fees from users.  To join we are only asked to do a few simple tasks and we get several points from our work.  It's possible that you followed the wrong link so you might have visited a scam website or something similar.  I wanted to check it on Binance but unfortunately my region protect me to visit it.  Please send a screenshot and URL to the airdrop link you mentioned, so we can check it together. I think you should not send any fee for this unusual moment.

That's the problem, this is the reason why people don't believe in the so called airdrop, imagine asking for tips in the onset, with what I know airdrop is been done for free so any inventors asking for money should be regarded as a pure scam.
But what I don't understand in this case is if binance can allow themselves to be used to perpetrate scam, though exe changes are capable of doing anything and they pretend a lot, but people wanting to part of airdrop should be careful of this projects everywhere.
Many scammers are out there looking for whom to rip off there funds but one thing is sure, if we can stay out of this free stuffs we will be free from scams in this business.

Op seems to be talking about binance new(s), which at least used to be something that anyone can post to, and it looked like official news feed. People were using it on misleading marketing so, i am assuming because of that they turned it to their personal new social media platform like "twitter" called "Binance Square". So either OP is speaking about that and saw some content creator who is a scammer posting something, or op is using a wrong phishing url for binance.

So it's not binance that's scamming anyone, but when newbs hear that binance isn't scamming, they tend to trust on anything that can be accessed from their site or has just a binance logo.

Newbs are easily confused, as binance has always been very confusing exchange with too many moving parts. And falling for scam replica site wouldn't be that hard stretch.

And i can't believe if i have to actually say this out loud but anything saying "1 million dollar pepe airdrop" should be obvious sign of scam.

If you search Google for a cached version of the Pepecoin profile on Binance Square, which is a curated newsfeed on Binance, it does show that they were offering an airdrop to people who tip them. However, the live version shows a 404 error. Maybe the Pepecoin team’s account was compromised or maybe Binance accidentally gave the profile to one of the other tokens also called Pepecoin and they turned out to be a scammer.
