Are memecoins also classified as Altcoins?

I wrote a post yesterday about meme coins doing better than Alt. There was a pretty good argument that memes are also altcoins.

Then again, these comments made me start thinking. Are Altcoins really memecoins and why did you think so?

     We have a Google search operation; why do you seem too lazy to do it? then you will ask here in this section. Here I will give you a difference between meme coins and altcoins, as you can see in the image below.

    If for you they are just the same, then so be it. That's why most communities here will not believe that they are the same, which for me is not really the case.

All coins except Bitcoin are called as Altcoins which is an abbreviation for alternative coins. Then a new term emerged called memecoin, which is an Altcoin inspired by memes, jokes or images that is viral on the internet. Apart from coins, there are also memes in the form of tokens called as meme tokens. Memes usually take advantage of certain moments to appear and get hype to rise. Many people think that memes are shit coins and are less popular, but in this bullish trend, the name meme is increasingly popular because it can provide more profits than other altcoins can provide. It's just about knowledge about the terms, nothing else.

Anything besides Bitcoin is an altcoin and can also fall into several subcategories. A casino could issue their own coin with confidential transactions and name it after Elon Musk. In this case it would be a privacy, meme, gambling coin.

Certainly, any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin is alternative or altcoin, with meme coin falling in sub-category of altcoins. Presently, we are witnessing hype of meme coin in crypto communities and even Solana and Cosmos chains have started rewarding their wallet holders with meme coins. I personally don't consider Meme coins as a viable  long term investment, because they lack any real life use case. Doge coin might be an exception, if  Elon Musk incorporate it into his business operations as method of payment.

People corrected you because you think meme coin is a different coin that is different from altcoin, how come you become an investor without understanding that altcoin is an abbreviation of alternative coin, so any coin that is not Bitcoin is considered an altcoin and meme coins are part of that altcoin.

We have thousands of altcoins in the market and there were more than are dead these are called shitcoins and dead coins, when an altcoin losses its value it become a scam coin, shitcoin.

If you mean meme coins are also part of altcoins, yes that's correct in my opinion. to my understanding, crypto assets other than Bitcoin would be called altcoins. and that includes meme coin tokens, of which we may encounter many new ones now.
It seems like there is a separate classification for memecoins. they can indeed be called altcoins, but not all altcoins are memecoins.

Yes all meme coins are altcoins and you can easily understand this fact by knowing that every coin beside bitcoin is an altcoin. Meme coins are not better coins because there are lots of scam projects arising with the name of meme coins and people with such concept accept these meme coins and lost their money.

You have already said that they're also altcoins so then so be it. There's no need for an extended discussion about it telling if they're meme coins or not because no one is going to win that argument if ever you think that it's proven they're altcoins, definitely they are. Let's keep it simple, all the crypto currency apart from Bitcoin are classified as Altcoin and this will stand true regardless people would lik ei tor not. I have already seen people showing their dissatisfaction on memecoin being called as altcoin but that's how it is and you can also call it as memecoin is a part of Altcoin ecosystem. Eventhough I don't personally invest into memecoin much but still there are lot of them in the market hence we cannot dislocate them from Altcoin ecosystem and I have used them to transfer funds due to their lower transaction fees and not using for the purpose it was created.

I see some people agree that meme ocin is an altcoin too but you need to classify it into shitcoin because it is not very useful and full as the worst speculation ever in the crypto industry, however for people who are good at getting can become millionaires in the near future, even if you are lucky.

The last conclusion is that it cannot be denied that meme coin is an altcoin because altcoin is a term other than bitcoin so I think it belongs to altcoin, don't be too excessive in altcoin because you will easily lose money if you are too excessive in holding altcoin.

It may be really luck that you can get rich from memecoin because almost memecoin can't move in value for long time. Lots of scam memecoins are entering the market so fill your bag of experience to pick the best one. Almost everyone has memecoin holdings and I already have two memecoins secured that I picked for long time. However, pick the best memecoins from cmc who have managed to enter the major exchange markets and whose development activities are truly commendable.

They are one of the categories of altcoins just like stable coins and others like privacy coins as well. we have varieties of choices when it comes to altcoins and also a low chance of choosing where is the right coin and who are the main developers when it comes to producing working projects in any category of altcoins. because of this, we are having a hard time investing in altcoins because the lower probability depends on how much knowledge you have when it comes to investing in newly created altcoins. hmm dear I got confused after reading your post how is it possible that we can consider all memecoins as altcoins? Memecoins are well known because of their big supply in the market and memecoins are highly volatile and work on pumping and dumping schemes and most of the memecoins projects are scamming projects and also shit projects. But in my opinion or point of view comparing memcoin with altcoins is not the right thing. What do you say about that?

As we know that many of the altcoin projects are very strong and they have their strong ecosystem, and strong use case if I am not wrong here dear Ethereum is also an altcoin Solana is also an altcoin, and many of the altcoins I can mention here but I would like to know it from you how can we consider of say that all memecoins are altcoins? I'm a simple individual and I like to keep things very simple so it doesn't get overly complicated. When I think about crypto, There is ONLY:

• Bitcoin
• Altcoins

Everything else that isn't Bitcoin  — whether it has utility or not or its just hyped memecoin, it's still in the second category. Memecoins are still altcoins with the only differentiating factor being the fact that nothing is promised. Where hype determines price and no hype means price decreases beyond beliefs.

Any coin that's not Bitcoin is Altcoin.

Memes aren't Bitcoin...

Therefore, Memes are alts/altcoins.

Yes memecoins are classifieds under altcoins, reason being that memecoins runs on the layer2 ethereal chain and for that will definitely falls under altcoins but what makes memecoins different from some altcoins is because of the unavailability of whitepaper for most and majority of the memecoins.

Unlike altcoins that many of them plays a rule in the cryptocurrency ecosystem,  and also having a clear road maps and course definitions

Any cryptocurrency apart from Bitcoin is called an altcoin because altcoin stands for alternative coin which means any alternative coin for Bitcoin is called an altcoin. So any coin, including meme coins and shit coins, other than Bitcoin is technically an altcoin.
However, people often don't consider meme coins among altcoins, and they refer to cryptocurrencies that have proper projects and are backed by known teams and good management whereas meme coins and shit coins don't have any of these things, which might be the reason why some people don't refer to meme coins as altcoins, but in general, they are altcoins as well.

All coins except Bitcoin are known as altcoins. As such, we can call Meme coin an alt coin. You may have raised this question because meme coins have no use case. In the market, they see nothing but bullish and bearish sentiments. Moreover, the rush of new meme coins is so high that investors are increasing their attraction to meme coins instead of trading in other good alt coins. Meme Coins are also known as Shit Coins or Hype Coins. Some also call it gambling coins . Due to their high influence in the market, these coins now have large trading volume that higher than some other good coins. Moreover, Coinbase recently announced the addition of dogecoins to their futures trading. They believe that Doge Coin is more powerful than other coins even though it is meme coin.

Altcoin refers to all cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin, and here memecoin is a part of altcoin.

Like you may have heard about crypto L1, L2, DEFI token, AI token, memecoin,... all are terms that describe altcoins.

Perhaps OP doesn't know the basics so he's confused between terms memecoin popularity in the space makes it a trend that quickly gains attention, but in the altcoin space most of it is driven by hype. But back to the main topic, this is just a matter of confusing terminology.
