And I just said over there and I am not going to say much again here because I have said a lot over there that the three coins are one.

Airdrops and
Altcoins are all from one family. It is just a logistics movement that born altcoins. It is from the airdrops memecoins were born then it is from the memecoins then altcoins are born. And they are all shitcoins.

Simple answer is yours. Any token/coin aside Bitcoin is considered as altcoin AKA shitcoins. So memecoin is an alternative coin to Bitcoin just like everybody else token.

But I think your statement is still correct if you classified other token as altcoin to memecoin because the original meaning of altcoin is what I mention above. People here just more focus on Bitcoin since this is Bitcointalk forum that’s why every coin is an alt to Bitcoin.

In case you don't know altcoin is short for alternative coins so they are all alternatives to Bitcoin and whatever coin that be it meme or exchange coin it's still an altcoin an alternative coin for Bitcoin and because they are alternate coins they cannot surpass Bitcoin popularity and support coming from investors, so many of these altcoins turned to scam coins and shitcoins, after they failed to generate support.

Not sure if you do some background or researches already but its quite simple since memecoins are also an altcoins is just that they are the type we called shitcoins or meme coins that arent actually have much use case but sole intended only for pump and dump and fun. But there are memecoins that are actuallt got some product working like doge that can be use for payment or thus some use at all.

Any coin that's not Bitcoin is Altcoin.

There is no need to be confused a lot with these classifications. Well, this is my own understanding about the subject that you have brought and that if the matter is just all about gains. No argument needed if some of the alts have gained a lot than Bitcoin but if it is abput stability and gains too, Bitcoin hands down.

Just call them clown money for all i care. But seriously, they are more altcoins then somekind of new group as seperate from them. As how would you even define a memecoin? Because of the name and the picture? What if ETH becomes a meme? Is that memecoin as well? Honestly this is just stupid. Just call them all altcoins. Even though technically even most of altcoins aren't altcoins, nor memecoins are memeCOINs because lots of them are tokens.

Altcoins have their own blockchain, unlike tokens. But at some point people just started calling everything but bitcoin an altcoin, no matter if they are tokens or coins. There were just too many people to educate and even basic concepts seemed too complex for them. I wish we wouldn't have lost that fight, but topics like this make even that seem irrelevant, when even concept of memetoken isn't known by people who are trading them.

Aside the bitcoin, every other cryptocurrencies are AltCoins and AltCoins means alternative to bitcoin which is the facial original development in the cryptocurrencies. The MemeCoins are junks to the AltCoins because they obtains their potential values on the capacities of speculations and the internet/social media influences unlike some other AltCoins that gain theirs by dependant or the bicoins volatility potentials volumes.

I do not think so. I don't like meme coins being classified as altcoins. Meme coins have no fundamentals, no value whatsoever and what pumps up their prices is just momentary hype that is deliberately driven by the community. I personally regret investing in meme coins. I once invested in Rats and apparently I just found out that Rats are really silly coins. No white paper, no roadmap, no team and completely useless coin. I learned one thing, that the market can be an anomaly and never trust these shitcoins. Unless you want to gamble with your money. And you get early access to a meme coin community.

Altcoin is a term used for coins other than Bitcoin.  Altcoins are numerous and even memecoins are also Altcoins.  Memecoin is a coin inspired by memes, jokes, or images that go viral on the internet.  Although they operate similarly to other cryptocurrencies, they often exist simply to capitalize on momentum and have no clear purpose, their prices tend to be volatile and their success is often determined by their virality and online community support.  So collecting Memecoin is very risky if we don't understand it well.  Memecoin is an Altcoin group that usually has a funny icon and has special characteristics because of its icon, but not all Altcoins are memes.  I hope you can catch the difference.

Op I come again. If the meme is a coin then it is altcoins. The coin is the classification of the altcoins with other projects. Like there is no coin is exchanges therefore exchange are not coins but exchanges have coin like OKX has it own coin or Binance has it own coin but the service itself is not a coin and any project that has the suffix as coin is altcoin. And you know why they are altcoins because bitcoin came before them so any other coins that coming out after bitcoin is an alternative and as others have said, it is popularly known as alternative coins to bitcoin while bitcoin is the main coin.

I don't think so there similarities between meme coin and other major alt coins having some usecase.Basically the coins when they are launched and they don't have a clear agenda of what they want to solve and what they want to bring it into the market. so whenever A meme coin is launched people don't you know get it on the serious note and when they perform well then the investment arises and automatically it gets pumped up and then you know it automatically transfers into the alt coin section but after a good performance. So every meme coin can get to the level of alt coin but not every alt coin is a  Meme coin. We need to understand that that alt coin is of different category that has a good use case and that is performing well in the market but the meme coin is ambiguous yes and it can perform well or not.

No. All memecoins are altcoins but not all altcoins are memecoins. This is a very basic concept

Altcoins are cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first and top cryptocurrency up to date.
So everything aside from that is called an altcoin. Memecoins on the other hand is basically a subset
of altcoins. There are other types of altcoins too like defi or stable coins but let’s focus on memecoins.

From its name, memecoins are generated from memes. Projects usually come from and in form of a meme.

I do not know dear why are you saying this and I am not jumping/rushing upon you because I do not know under what condition you are considering all of them in one niche. well in my point of view saying this is not right if that so tell me one thing Ethereum is also an altcoin do you still compare altcoin with memecoins? solana is also an altcoin now what do you think mate? Dear, I am not an altcoins lover i love bitcoin the strongest digital currency ever but do not say this as many altcoins do have strong use cases strong ecosystems, and comparing them with memecoin is not the right thing.

on the other hand, memecoins work on pumping and dumping schemes and are highly volatile that why they are kind of different from altcoins. All the crypto currencies except bitcoin are classified as altcoin. In the altcoin there are various categories, and meme coin is one of them. Even all of those billions of dollars worth of stablecoin are also altcoin. Meme coins made a real buzz in the market and that is why some people wanted to treat them as a totally different class of crypto asset, but according to the altcoin definition, any crypto currency beside bitcoin will be considered as alternative coin which means altcoin and they are created to serve a specific purpose.

Memecoins are altcoins but not all altcoins are memecoins altcoins is a general name used to call all cryptocurrency that aren't Bitcoin. Any coin, tokens or NFT can be called an altcoin as there's no specific type of cryptocurrency being given the name altcoins but they're all altcoins.  Memecoin are doing better as they're the narrative that investors are investing into, soon they won't be making investors alot of profits as attention will be shifted to others narrative that aren't memecoins.

Altcoins aren't memecoins instead memecoins are altcoins there are many altcoins that have very strong fundamental and can be invested into for long term and you'll make profits as they won't be a pump and dump project without any real product that they're working on just as many Memecoins are. Memecoin depends on hype to pump but some good altcoins don't need hype as they have working products
