Farming and agriculture is one underated sector that used to be the value of a country wealth and even individual wealth. Since the discovery of crude oil, precious stones agriculture has slipped down in interest from country to individuals but I think it is just the mentality of time.

Food is very important to survival infact on Maslow hierarchy of needs physiological value is far important than any other value meaning agriculture would always be very important.

Using my country for example before crude oil was found we used to export agricultural products like groundnuts, Cocoa, rubber, rice e.t.c and this helped the economy immensely and we had a more stable economy than we have now that we are one of the highest crude oil exporters (although this has to also do with corruption).

Even individually we have ignored the importance of agriculture, it is a sector that can creat independent business owners, form small scale to large scale.

There are many significant opportunities for economic development that farming and agriculture offers. In the northern part of my country we have a huge percentage of arable land. However, despite its vast arable land, my country still imports food annually worth billions of naira, indicating a gap between potential agricultural productivity and actual food production.

And some of the reasons for this are insecurity, corruption, and neglect of the agricultural sector by the government. Granting interest free loans, Education of farmers and giving out fertilizer to farmers in my country is of little to no help unless the security situation that forces farmers to abandon their farm lands for years because of fear of being killed is solve.

Being an oil producing nation, they are more concerned about the oil than about farm and agriculture which is a future-focused business due to the inevitable rise in food demand. If the government of my country can increase their investment in agriculture which include farming activities they'll see that it is a highly profitable venture that offers substantial returns due to the increasing need for food worldwide.

The agricultural sector is the most important of all the other sectors in an economy, because we must eat to survive as human beings, and if the sector is neglected, then there won't be an active work force. Nowadays people prefer more convenient works like white collar jobs or just go into buying and selling of goods including agricultural produce, because nobody wants to do the tedious and dirty work of working in the farm. But what they don't understand is despite the fact that farm work can be hard, farmers are not hungry people and they make a lot of money during their harvest seasons, infact mechanized farmers are very rich and influential people in the societies.

My landlord is into fishery, he's has big fish ponds and he's making a lot of money from the business, infact more richer than most entrepreneurs that I know. I look forward to going into agriculture in the near future.

Agriculture is very important for every country. Without agriculture it is not possible to ensure the food of a country.  But these days people have started looking at agriculture in a bad light. According to people, agriculture is the work of the poor. But they don't know how much success can be achieved by doing agriculture with modern technology. In my country, farming is still very important. However, I once had a farming land but I was force to sell it for personal reasons. But I do agree, this sector could be one of the most neglected by government around the world.

And even for some countries, those who lead this industry is somewhat corrupt or at least manipulated some goods to their advantage. And with the development of buildings to house the population, some areas are now being taken by developers, who paid government handsomely so that they can get that farm land. Yeah.  If the government prioritize this, it could make farming way more appealing. Youre right that farming is  tough and the profits don't always match the effort. I think but I can't remember well again probably yesterday or there about I saw a flashed News on my social media platforms that the company that was producing Red Oil from Palm Trees is coming back to Nigeria from UK to restart the production. They were producing in enough commodity in the colonial era. Africa is blessed with natural resource abundantly but our leaders are blinded that they don't see those things except Crude Oil.

It agriculture that increases a country GDP to a very high rate and with agriculture cost of living reduce and the inflation is very high because there is no solid Agricultural revolution in the land. Agriculture is the lifeblood of a country because agriculture is considered quite important as one of the needs that must be met. Now agriculture is considered to be the work of the poor, even though in developed countries agriculture is carried out by people with educated status. The difference is that they no longer farm using traditional methods because they are assisted by machines with easier and better levels of effectiveness.

Look, nobody can deny the role of farming into the economy of a country. Farming has always been the backbone of a country and countries who don't have enough resources for farming import a lot and their major budget is spent on that. I don't completely agree with your opinion of farming as a poor man thing. I think due to developed technologies people now don't need to work that Hard like our ancestors used to do.

Technologies like every other sector have also revolinised farming and there are many ways to reduce labour effort. The governments should supply or give discounts on the tools used in modern farming and reduce the amount of efforts of a farmer this will improve the view of farming.

For things like this, it would be better and more accurate to look at it globally because if you only look at one country or in your own country, I don't think that would be accurate enough to say. Because where I live now there are still many rich people who want to farm and still pay dozens of people to take care of all the land they own in order to increase their agricultural income. So things like this must also be highlighted through the thoughts of the community itself because those who are aware of the importance of food for life and the economy will definitely not ignore any land they currently have.

The government already does this every year through the existing budget, so I don't think the community themselves need to complain about anything as long as they still have the intention to develop land and generate income through their own agriculture. Because it is not only important for poor people, but currently there are still more rich people who care about it without waiting for loans from the government and cheap fertilizer from the government. Although it could also be more useful for all poor people in building enthusiasm to continue farming on their own land.
