Disable and hide gambling videos on Youtube

Unfortunately YouTube doesn't offer a specific feature to disable or hide gambling videos entirely, so we need to combine few tips to eliminate everything related to gambling content.

Maybe many of you here are already aware of such or better steps to disable Youtube content related to gambling, especially during that period when you feel you have developed an addiction or your gambling activity has become concerning, I didn't find any topics here explaining this feature other than self exclusion from your casino account for a period of time or even permanently. So, I wanted to share with you the simplest way to disable YouTube gambling content ( ads and videos) in few steps I could find.

…What made me think about this also is my excessive gambling activity lately, beside setting a self exclusion of 6 months for my casino account, I always come across many gambling videos on YouTube as I was a big fan of them (knowing that not everyone can get influenced by these videos to push you gable) however, I was a little worried about it and I had to apply these steps…

Why you are seeing Gambling Ads and videos on YouTube? : simply because google collects your cookies and when you search about casinos or gambling, you will get ads or at least video suggestions.

First step is to disable Gambling Ads on YouTube:
 

• You go to My ad center of your google account attached to your YouTube.
• You turn on Personalized ads if not already.
• Choose "Customize Ads" at the bottom of your screen.
• Turn off the gambling choice or anything related to it

Next step is a process similar to detox from gambling content:

• Blocking streamers and gambling channels: You have to unsubscribe from every channel that produce gambling content.
• Switch recommendations: every time you find that kind of videos click on the three dots next to it and select "Not interested".
• Delete your videos History: Clear your viewing history to prevent YouTube from recommending similar content.

Also there might be some google chrome extensions to help you but as another simple solution, if you are willing to give up on your old youtube channel is to totally change your google account.

Note: for me this process is only temporary until I rehab and reduce my urge for gambling for some time, I process I went through many time to avoid a bad addiction. So feel free to also share your thoughts or better tips.

What about the gambling ads that the YouTubers are advertising? You may be able to bypass the Google gambling ads on YouTube but you can not bypass the ads of the in there video contents.

You will never receive gambling ads or any gambling related content if you didn’t search them manually or click a random video that related to gambling. All the suggestion above is working but I have a simpler version of doing that by uninstalling my youtube app/clean browsing details on my browser when in PC then login different youtube account to have a fresh suggested video for me.

Yeah, Premium youtube is really the best it’s perfect for me since I have a kid that use my account that helps me to avoid ads of unnecessary content.

If you don't want to see ads, why don't you install an ad-blocker plugin? U-block origin is a free and very capable adblocker. I use it on every PC and browser I have. It is so good, I can't use youtube on my phone anymore because it is full of annoying ads. There is another plugin which is even better and it is called: Channel Blocker. With this plugin you can even block the channels you don't want to see and they will never show in the search results or recommended videos again. Channel Blocker + Ublock Origin makes youtube an amazing experience.

Buying youtube premium is an option too but I heard that they still show you some small ads even when you buy their premium which sucks and you'll still see the content you don't want to see.

There isn't a way to block gambling related stuff completely and automatically but you can block these gambling channels one by one with hand using channel blocker.

This is for sure a very helpful tip to somekind of bypass gambling videos or contents on YouTube, but unfortunately, I feel this is not only temporary just as you (@op) have said, but I think it will be completely ineffective for someone who is already addicted to gambling big time, because aside from successfully making YouTube to stop showing you gambling contents or recommending them, there are still Google ads inside the free YouTube, and there is no way for a gambler to bypass this one, as long as a gambler have once or twice before visited any gambling c as casino, the user will from time to time see casino ads on his or her YouTube account, except the person subscribes to YouTube premium.

And this ads are not actually limited to YouTube alone, this ad can be seen on other social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on, and it doesn't end there, this ads can also be seen on some websites like coinmarketcap, coingecko, blockchain scan sites like etherscan, bscscan, tronscan and so on.

So, in the end, we discover that we can't really completely do away with seeing gambling contents on our phones or internet devices as long as we have been into gambling before, self determination and control is what helps an addicted gambler to be free from the addiction.

I was planning to subscribe to YouTube Premium to get rid of ads, but if there are still ads, then I might as well not bother. I already use the Ublock Origin browser extension, and it's very efficient. No ads pop up no matter how many hours I watch. So when you mostly watch videos related to gambling, do the ads also relate to gambling?

You can turn off your watch history so you can simply search for what you want to watch and no suggested videos will appear when you open YouTube.

For Android:
Use Firefox for mobile with uBlock origin

For browsing YouTube Download and install NewPipe, the youtuble client alternative that doesn't have ads:

For general ads on mobile: Download and install Blokada, it's a network level ad-blocker for your phone:

Sadly no easy solution for apple phones. Maybe jailbreak but it's hard and not available for all models. But if you're in need of changing phones anyway you should consider an Android. You can get satisfactory performance with a much lower starting price with android phones.

Ads you can not avoid:
Sadly as there are no real alternatives to META platform apps, the best solution is to completely uninstall these apps (Instagram, Facebook, Messenger) from your phone.
Use them on your computer via browser or tell your good friends to contact you via other means altogether.
If you absolutely must use these apps on mobile, there are some third party alternatives for android but they are not reliable. You can find them on F-droid marketplace.

I don't know if it's technically possible but if you use YouTube "Italy" you will practically never see gambling-related advertisements because they are illegal here.
using youtube premium is the best solution.
I suspect that they have "bombarded" me for years and years with idiot advertising, just to get me to sign up for the premium subscription.

I think at the options Youtube should allow anyone who do not want to watch Youtube ads of a certain category which the gambling one reside in 18+ to be able to opt out of such type of ads.Sure only with Youtube premium you don't watch ads but at least Youtube should allow some control to people regarding what type of ads they want to see or not.

Personally though when I have lost a lot I go and watch videos of streamers who win big just to motivate myself.

Nowadays, just by accessing the mobile or internet, random ads from gambling or casino sites can be seen and these ads are quite annoying. It would be wrong to say that it is just boring but it is so harmful that if young children are attracted to gambling out of curiosity after seeing all these casino or gambling advertisements then the matter will be clear if you think about the future of that child. I will definitely request youtube or social media authorities in this regard to not promote all these annoying gambling or casino site ads as soon as possible. to block content related to gambling on youtube, maybe that is something that cannot be done, but if you are not looking for content related to gambling and only focus on one type of content, the youtube algorithm should not give you video recommendations about gambling. and to block gambling ads, maybe you could try installing an ad blocker. i use the opera browser and there is an ad blocker feature that users can use directly and it will prevent advertising content from appearing in your browser.

I only know Brave was a privacy oriented browser and the user has a possibility to earn BAT token, that's all.

Your answer is actually help many people, we don't have to subscribe Youtube Premium and don't have to follow many steps to turn off the gambling ads (if someone want to).

Simply clear your browsing activity and use a different google account, preferrably new to the socmeds you are using because everything runs under algorithm and as others have mentioned, things won't appear if you're not really searching for it. Safe to assume that you're into gambling contents if it keeps to appear on your feeds. Also, with influencers, sad to say but many of them are promoting gambling sites in any platform simply because they are being paid for it. If your intention is for you to quit gambling which is why you are wanting to turn off the ads related to it, well you could just buy premium youtube account or to simply not engage on contents at all. Contents are a bit unstoppable since content creators will continue to do so as long as they are being paid. So it is on viewers end to create the adjustment.

Again, watching gambling contents would mean nothing if you can control yourself not to engage in the platforms being promoted. Wether we like it or not, it would be existing on most people's browsing experience.

It's crazy that YouTube already allowed gambling ads. It's surprising why they are doing this because YouTube is still owned by Google and Google also strongly not allowing gambling-related ads on its advertising platform.

It will work but AI will just replace the ads of something subtle that might still be related to gambling like sports ads or TV shows like wheel of fortune. But its better than having those casino ads.

They have Machine-Learning or AI-generative tools to detect user behavior and filter contents that fit with user's interest. Then they will provide many similar contents to that user.

It is popularly on other platforms like Facebook too.

I disagree to say "Never happens" as they can show you random advertisement, but if you click on it, you will receive more in future.

I'm using the Brave browser and I'm not getting any ads I use another email to watch videos on YouTube that have nothing to do with gambling on my searches.

If your account is subscribed to a particular interest YouTube will keep showing similar videos to build up your interest so for non-gambling related videos use another email and subscribe to more friendly channels like health concerns, old movies soft music and YouTube will show ads related to your interest that's how their algorithm works, its very similar to Facebook also.

Your method can stop gambling ads but not completely and unsubscribing every channel related to gaming and gambling can be a lot of work or atleast for me so my recommendation will be just logout of that Google account in YouTube then login with another account that you haven't used to login, if you don't have just create a fresh one then subscribe to some channels that is related to music or others then you won't get gambling ads until you search gambling related videos there.

It is because there are many apps with ad blockers but still showing the YouTube ads after the ad blocking is enabled. But Brave browser is different. It is true that Brave browser will completely block the ads. Some people also prefer to use the YouTube app and not looking for ways to block the ads.
