The supply of bitcoin cannot be changed depending on demand. If there is more demand for gold or another commodity, the price goes up and since it is more profitable, producers start producing more, which causes, over time, the price to go down. Conversely, if the price goes down, producers stop producing so much, or some stop or go bankrupt, and as production is reduced, the price eventually goes up again.

This would be like this in very broad strokes but what I wanted to exemplify is that this cannot be done with bitcoin. There is a total production limit of approximately 21 million and there is a fixed production per mined block that cannot be varied either by supply and demand or by price variation.

If there is more demand for gold or another commodity, the price goes up and since it is more profitable, producers start producing more, which causes, over time, the price to go down. I think that the only comparison if it's related to mining and supply limit is that, we know that there's a limit for gold but we don't know how much it exactly is. Whilst for Bitcoin, there's a supply limit but we won't be there until one has been mined.

It's true that it's not easy to mine gold just like Bitcoin. The hash power and electricity that's needed to do it is enormous and the same for the resources and equipment needed to mine gold.

So, the value starts from there and people have been realizing this I guess. And just as with the use of gold for those other products, the same goes for Bitcoin that it can also be used but more than that and has more utility and use case than gold.

However, why I'd agree that Bitcoin is the best among them is for instance, gold supply can increase with demand but that of Bitcoin is finite, it is capped at 21 million. In my opinion, the biggest added advantage Bitcoin has over many other investment options is both decentralization and ease. Real estate, stock and all other investment options are also very nice investment options but the problem is the fact that you need to understand how to maintain and properly manage them in order to prevent you from making losses instead of profits.

I love your conclusion but the OP makes everything look outrageous. So you guys think the 21 million limit doesn't have its disadvantages as well? Do the arithmetic in line with economics. This is one of the reasons why Bitcoin can't be suggested as the world reserve asset even if it is accepted all over the world. But the Gold had done that and fitted very well due to its characteristics and also because of its enough availability. I wonder how Bitcoin would fit in when it is that scarce.

Bitcoin is a very good asset, no doubt, but what I can see with the OP is the repetition of what we always hear about it. I hope the scarceness that might happen due to the limited supply helps forever, and that is if the demand is increasing. In the absence of that over time, it is another issue. The place I bolded, you made it sound like it's an assurance. Just so you know, the price surge is as a result of speculation and not an assurance, don't get nuke and disappointed when you see halving happen tomorrow and Bitcoin price doesn't pump, because nothing is impossible with Bitcoin. However, history has made us believe that surge in price always occur because some how the miners need to be compensated for their security provided for Bitcoin but it's not guaranteed.

At the bolded again, Bitcoin halving is not about increasing the price of.the Bitcoin, is about halving the block reward miners get for every block they find and this happen continuesly every 4 years but it's believe that after halving, Bitcoin do find a new all time high and then settle down at a support and if bad events happens to the crypto markets, it doesn't mean that the price might not crash below previous supports. On the other hand, I think what gives Bitcoin its value isn't that it's decentralized or because it has a limited supply pegged at 21million max. I think it's because of its committed and trusting community. It might be the best investment, but it can be the worst investment as well especially when it enters the bear season where Bitcoin most of the time losses around 70% to even 80% of it's peak price which causes investors to lose huge amounts of money. With that, bitcoin attracts a lot of investors even those big financial institutions that are currently investing in bitcoin hoping to get massive and ride the bull run season. I would still prefer to pay taxes with the cash in my wallet rather than using Bitcoin as a payment option. Even if the government legalizes it, I will still hold Bitcoin and give them fiat money. We don't need a long explanation, bitcoin is considered the best investment asset today because there are stories that it has increased in price millions of times, many people have become millionaires by holding it for a few years...is being spread around the world. Many people don't even know what bitcoin is, how it works, what its supply is...they know nothing about it but they know that it can keep going higher and they invest in it.

I never see these posts or questions during bear season but when cow season comes, there are thousands of questions similar to this all over social media. This is also a sign for me to realize that cow season is really approaching.   

To add to this, Bitcoin is the simplest asset that any kind of person can invest in because it is divisible; even a poor person can invest in Bitcoin. Meanwhile,  to invest in real estate, one needs some significant amount of money, and one also needs some significant amount to invest in gold or stock. But with Bitcoin, someone can even buy as little as $1 worth of Bitcoin, but I am sure that no one can buy $1 of a real estate share, gold, or stock. Like you have said, people don't even need a long explanation as to why they must invest in Bitcoin. I don't agree with the comparison very much, because it mix too many factors which don't make sense. I think it would be fine to compare Bitcoin to fiat currency taking the scarcity and supply aspects into consideration, but when the author also puts stocks, real estate and gold investments on the samd basket it doesn't make any sense at all...

Gold also has limited supply, it's scarce and pretty rare to be found, so it's definitely a good alternative to store value. Real estate tends to get highly valuable on long run, doesn't being negatively impacted by fiat's devaluation, so it's also one of the best available investments alternatives so far. Stocks really depend, as it's a risky market, but it also tend to be an interesting option for investors in order to diversify funds.

The only bad option there is fiat currency, being totally discouraged to hold large portions of it without any goals in mind on what to do with this money aiming to maintain its value on long term. Personally, I would like to engage in stocks, real estate and continue dealing with BTC futurely. And gold, despite being a stable method to conserve value, isn't on my radar. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency meaning it cannot be controlled by anyone. But this feature doesn’t mean privacy. I certainly agree with this. Bitcoin is not actually the best investment when it comes to future security and stability. It has high volatility, so most likely we cannot expect certainty on its present or future value. But that volatility nature makes us more thrilled and interested to engage in bitcoin. I have to agree with you. Bitcoin’s high volatility is what makes people stay investing and get attached with it. It could be a threat for others but majority, it could be the best asset for bitcoin. Bitcoin is safe, bitcoin blockchain is quite safe, but many people investing in bitcoin do not have enough knowledge, so there have been hacks that have made many people feel scared and think that it is not safe.

The decentralized bit is just one piece of the pie. Bitcoin has economic security that makes it much more valuable than any other crypto. It's a network that can't be halted or have its plug pulled by any entity. Being finite is also a key criteria that I like to highlight whenever I talk about Bitcoin as an asset.
