That's true because there's a negative point of view of the society when it's come to gambling. They'd judge you quickly and you shouldn't gamble then but still, you do it and chose to hide.

If there is no judgemental society and culture, many will simply be showy and won't be scared to say that they're gamblers.

But because of that mentality from different people that if you're a gambler, you're a wasted life and you don't even have a good life as gambling destroyed it.

All that you said are correct, but another you missed is they there are some places where gamblers (especially physical gamblers) are always being chased and harrased by the police and other security agencies, and this is because in those places, gamblers are believed to be into drug trade and trafficking.
So, I this type of place, both the good and bad gamblers are always hiding of hidden in a secret place when ever they gather to gamble, they hide themselves away where police won't find them, and passaby won't see them and as well alert the police or any other security agency.

I know this because, it's something that have happened frequently in one area where I once lived on, most gamblers where were drug lord, peddling hard drugs of different sorts and categories, and because of this, both the drug carrying gamblers, and clean/good gamblers were always on the run, hiding from the police and the public when ever they gather to gamble, because if the police see them, they will get harrased, beaten and at most, arrested, and if the public sees them as they gather gambling, they (public) will alert the police, so, this is why some hide while gambling.

Yup, that's right, as far as societal viewpoints go, it really depends on where you are, or I mean if your country is a country that really prohibits gambling for some reason then yes, the societal viewpoint is also likely to be very negative towards people who are involved in gambling, and it's a fact that even if you have a good approach to gambling, you still can't completely avoid the bad stigma that exists in the minds of the people around you.

At the end of the day they will still assume that you are someone who has a bad personality for being involved in gambling regardless of whether you are a responsible gambler or an addict. For gambling, everyone wants to conduct gambling as much as possible according to their own rules. There are some gamblers who never want anyone else to know about their gambling under any circumstances, good or bad. A close friend of mine kept his gambling secret from me for a long time. I have experienced that. They've hated me but when they've heard the news that I have won, yes, only the word "won" but didn't know how much it was. They've came to me and asked some money but little did they know, yes I've won but with small amount.

All have their own reasons when choosing to gamble secretly and it is a fact that when someone does not want to be labeled as someone bad because until now gamblers have always been identified with negative things considering that the current stigma of society towards gambling is still very negative so it would be very natural if we hide the activities we do in gambling.
In addition, for me personally, I also deliberately did not tell explicitly that I was a gambler because I did not want to be considered as a person who encouraged or pioneered gambling in my place of residence because after all, gambling is currently quite crowded and sometimes when there are several friends who gamble at the same time indirectly one of the people must be considered as the person who brought his friend to gambling so I did not expect such a stamp on my name.
