What we re-learned last night was that it doesn't matter one bit if there is largest and most "advanced" ballistic missile defenses present, it doesn't matter if 10 countries are providing their full support, if NATO has brought all its power to defend, if US/UK/French/etc. air forces are desperately trying to provide air support....

... when Iranian missiles rain, they'll hit their targets.

Last night according to article 51 of United Nations Charter, Iran responded with a small* ballistic missile attack on Israel as a punishment for the terrorist attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria earlier this month. The wave of videos coming out all night showed the skies in occupied Palestine has been lit last night as these projectiles hit the Israeli terrorist bases one by one flattening them.

* ~150 missiles is tiny by Iranian standards otherwise it is categorized as massive scale attack by NATO standards

My favorite video of last night was this one. Here this Palestinian in Gaza is saying that for the first time in the past 190 days there is no Zionist aircraft on top of Gaza, there are no bombs being dropped, there are no kids being slaughtered by the Israeli [terrorists] and for the first time in months they felt safe...

I saw this topic and finally, we have a country that has the balls to curtail the excesses of Israel. This is the first time the Islamic Republic has attacked Israel from its territory, that's great courage. Maybe experiencing a few hours of what Gazians have been experiencing for over six months will make Israeli citizens push out their senseless leaders. It seems America doesn't want to be involved in further escalations.

Iron Dome once again failed?

To put simply yes.

To get more technical and from a military perspective, Iron Dome is more of a short range defense system to counter rockets and slow projectiles.
David's Sling and Arrow are the main anti-ballistic missile defense systems that tried and failed last night.

There is still no official statement about the type of the weapons used but from the videos I can guess these were all very low tier munitions focusing on an "overwhelming strategy" instead of "dominating" one. I can also say that the videos show Israeli defense systems tried defending as much as they could and countered some of the incoming projectiles but they got overwhelmed very easily and quickly. Basically they shot down what they were supposed to shoot down and as they ran out of defensive missiles, the important projectiles arrived and easily hit their targets.

In terms of Vertical Escalation doctrine, this strategy by Iran makes perfect sense. To use low tier munitions that can only be categorized as "mussel flexing" while keeping the cost low. The higher tier weapons are kept for next phases of the Vertical Escalation.
In this strategy the side with superior firepower (ie. Iran) launched 2-3 waves of ballistic missile, cruise missile and drones at an adversary with an advanced air defense (10 countries are said to help in that defense last night, that includes US, UK and France). The low-low tier ones are meant to make the ABM systems busy and exhaust their defensive missile supplies as higher-low tier ones are meant to pass the then empty ABM system and hit their targets without any problems.

For example Shahed-136 drones that was used last night is very low tier Iranian loitering munition (at least 12 generations old) and is only used to busy the air defenses while the swarm itself can locate them and one is enough to dive and destroy its batteries and radars.

I am actually quite worried on how this could be translated into a bigger military escalation in the region... Sadly, this will only make things harder for people who just want to make peace an option, now Iran ins getting involved. Obviously, Israel did not have any reason to attack and destroy a consulate in a foreign country, it was completely uncalled for...

This may prompt the United States to get even more involved with the defense of Israel and commit more tax money into reinforce the Iron dome in some way so Iran won't get it's way so easily. It is a dark day for us who just wanted this conflict to deescalate and get closer to a ceasefire.

According to a report  from Isreal intercepting Iranian missiles and drones cost Isreal up to 4-5 billion shekels ($1.08-1.35B). Furthermore, One ‘Arrow’ missile which Isreal used to intercept an Iranian ballistic missile costs $3.5 million, while the cost of one ‘Magic Wand’ missile (David's Sling) is $1 million. If this escalation becomes a full-blown war, it will be very expensive to fund. Maybe this might be the reason why the US is persuading Israel not to retaliate. These attacks have already affected the price of gas making it rise. Any instability in that region will destabilise the entire world.

The reason is because US will not participate in such an attack knowing what's going to happen to US military if they did and without US it is nearly impossible for the Zionists to even reach Iran (eg. those shitty F35 jets require a couple of refueling to be able to reach Iran's borders, let alone enter the airspace and pass the most sophisticated air defense in existence).

Additionally as Iranian officials announced, any kind of "offensive" against Iran will be responded to immediately and with a force 10 times bigger than this operation which NATO is referring to as the biggest ballistic and drone attack to this date (although it is a tiny attack with Iranian standards).

Exactly. Nobody in their right mind likes wars. They are atrocious things specially when facing barbarians like those in NATO who bomb primary schools and hospitals; this is why everyone must do everything they can to avoid them. That's is exactly what Iranians have been doing for decades, all this time they tried to avoid armed conflict. You can see all the years of negotiating with the worst regime in this world (ie. the US regime aka the Epstein ruling class in the West). Negotiations that were career suicide for so many politicians (including these lasts ones in Islamabad) and yet they did it to avoid war nonetheless.
The two times the Axis attacked Iran was during negotiations too! Once in June last year and another time on last day of February. This is where the term "US bombed the negotiation table" comes from.

The problem is when Iranians put all their efforts in trying to avoid war, the barbaric enemy interprets that as weakness! To put simply: the US regime thought Iran is not capable of even fighting the US military and that's why Iranians wanted to avoid it. The US regime didn't even imagine they'd get dominated so easily.
Therefore sometimes you have to use your military might and inflict severe damage to the brainless enemy to remind them that when you strive to avoid war, it's because you are peaceful not because you are incapable of winning it. That is why sometimes when they started the war against you, then for example you have to actually hit USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier with cruise missiles (March 12 I think) and destroy 24 aircrafts on board and inflict 200+ casualties so that maybe the morons seeing it burn for 30+ hours learn that lesson the hard way.

The US underestimated the capacity of Iran. They thought it would be an easy war, as they did in Libya, where they instigated the people to take up arms against the government. When they failed to push the Iranians to follow the same path, they started an open confrontation. Iran was prepared and applied a comprehensive approach. They used military, economic and psychological warfare. Trump had no other option but to seek assistance from allies and even from foes. As the days went by, it became clear that this war could not be won and they began to push for a ceasefire.

I want this war to end because it has brought untold hardship to my country. The increase in the price of crude has caused high inflation. The price of almost everything has gone up, and people are becoming poorer. I hope lessons from this war have been learned and such mistakes will not be repeated in the future.
