The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has called on Nigerians to report any instances of arbitrary price hikes by businesses.

In addition to their warning, the FCCPC encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting any unfair trade practices they encounter.

This is not hidden at all. Some local product prices increased, while some remain as it was when dollar was around $1900. Imported products has decreased by almost 50% but local products have not fallen that much.

Although, yesterday I read on the news that the price of Indomie has decreased. The smallest size sold between ₦10500 and ₦11500 is now sold between ₦7400 and ₦8000. I do not know if other local products have been decreasing in price also.

This country matter don tire pepsin all this one na formality, no go carry body say government want to do something. waitin show say waiting Dem dey talk go work how country people want take no say the trader hike the price wen them never carry out list of prices the items how it's supposed been sold, apart from dat, if na tru why not set-up task force way go involved our arms forces like police, civil defense and some others to go around all the market published the sanction meant for default to the public and back it up by their law which will not deviate from our constitution, you will no a government wey ready to change tins by their doing no be to talk for mouth many ways wey go work faster dey to achieve this.

 As dem dey look for whistle blowers, are they not in the country where this tins dey happen na citizens way never see food chop go dey call and email them for defaulter, I see this matter as something way no get head because na when citizens don know the actual prize den go take detect person wey dey hike price. My opinion is that make they bring out price required of government by the traders published it, make news carry am both social media when citizens don dey aware of all this tin is very easy to even join hand fight this matter.

We don forgot say d traders get union and all if them dey do according to what Dem don agree until government don say all items like dis we want am to be sold  citizens come dey follow the prize dey tackle trader and report those who no want obey this fccpc matter if reporting no go hold water.

If this people are waiting for people to report businesses that are hiking prices to them, then they are not yet serious. Don't they have agent's that they can release to move round the various major markets in the country and in different states to go and get data for themselves. It will be more effective this way. This thing in very simple, if they want these traders to take them serious, they should make it headlines in Media houses and put a deadline. After the expiration of the deadline they will give, they should enter markets and any businesses found to be hiking prices of goods, should be locked down and the goods cart away. If others see the action nobody will tell them to reduce the prices of things.

We actually hope to see that coming because the fight to recover the value of naira shouldn't hand been just of hype that the naira has regained its value from the dollar exchange.
OP you should provide us with source in terms like this so that interested persons can also read in details or for verification of updates.
But anyhow, if the government really want to fight this whole out by having those who still maintains the increase of their goods up til now to be captured or notified, why not the government set a commission to hover and cover those sectors by building a commission which would oversee all those angles maybe the masses can only be subordinates in running the eyes on the local traders.
Meanwhile the productions and factories should primarily be hold responsible because traders who sells to final consumers do actually considers how much they bought their items before considering how much to sell to those final consumers.
We know as the country people usually behaves that if indictments is not considered as breaking of the laws, the treaders, vendors, producers ad the rest of them would be adamant to the forces.

Lets not just also say because the rate of dollar has reduced and magically just believe that the system has been balance to have our price of goods reduced just like that but also considering that the central bank as our national financial regulatory authorities and the economy communions that are in charge of the goods and services in exchange really has to go in alignments of having this whole thing fixed for the system to be workable again and not just about the hail of recovering the value of naira else it'd only favour those who're into importation tradings hence we're yet to hear that the price of fuel had dropped to affordable rates, the local dealers will still be affected unless the whole barriers of the hike of productions is being eliminated.

It was all hype... Pardon me to say that nothing of notable development to the least citizens is working except for corruptions and connections both in government and private establishments and agencies.

The fight for the recovery of the value of the Naira is not a genuine and transparent fight the more reason the Naira keeps plummeting to nothing compared to the Dollar. Coming back home, for a government that want to fight against exponential increments in the prices of goods/products and services they don't need a layman on the street to start sending reports before they have to know where to start with the campaign of effective price regulation. I understand we are under a government that have chosen not to be sincere with and accept  realities... They are just good is finding faults and channeling blames than finding solutions.

Imagine a society where citizens provide absolutely everything that they need to keep life in existence right from running water, electricity, security (ln the Northern Nigeria citizens living at the mercy of assailants), and anymore kind of social amenities we could think of. You'll be forced to ask, what then is the essence of the existence of a government in the society.

So sad, that we keep experiencing constant increments in prices of commodities. A bag of rice that was sold for #70,000 in April is now sold at #90,000 and this applies to the prices of every other foodstuffs and products in the market.  How do we explain this to posterity?

There is this phrase used in the street often and it goes "na we dy do ourselves" and that's the truth. We love to take advantage of any hard situations that comes our way and instead of us to collectively comes together and fought the government for better life, we used that to milk each by increasing the price of goods and services. When Mr. A increases the price of his goods and others complain, endured and bought, they also go back and increased their own as well and when Mr. A goes and buy, he lament, buy and go back to increased his price again, this is how corrupt the country has turned.

All this remedy are temporary solution and it wouldn't work because how many people do you think the government is going to arrest, all sellers? How many states are they going to control? The best solution is to enable a price control policy, that will help everyone knows how much the government want things to be sold but this is not achievable alone, they must try and fight inflation, beat it down to lowest and reduce the amount of money in circulation otherwise, I don't think we are ready for progression in this country.

No vex oh belike you just dey wake up from sleep and you no dey this country because which time wey you dun see something like this work. Even the whistle blowing wey dem been bring no work like that, how you come think say this one go work. What prove will you have that he's hiking the price of things wey be say he can just bring down the price when you bring those incharge of inspections and when dem go him increase back the price. The government never wake up, tinubu no get our time. All him focus na to recover the money him spend for election and get more reserved for the upcoming election because chances dey say him go run again.

Dem know wetin to do but dem no go do am because e no dey affect them. Na only things wey go affect them na wetin dem dey after na why dem always dey quick to pass bill wey go favour them or commot Nigeria mind for the problem wey dey on ground. Tackling hike in price starts from the price of fuel and since dem dun see say removing subsidy no work. Omor ehn na waiting dem suppose do since because the way some people dey hike the price of their goods like say dem dey happy for waiting dey happen for the country and even some people wey never go market new I mean people wey never sell their old products or goods finish go still dey sell those old goods for that current price wey dem hear which is very bad though no be everybody dey do am sha. Normally, we know say everything don add money on top the original or formal price but e no good for person to come dey still carry the price up again after the goods don already add something.

So my question now is how did they want us to report this people, is it through Radio or through what. sorry for asking my phone couldn't open the link. However, what if I live in a local area inside village to be precise and I saw someone who is selling beyond the worth of a particular commodity or goods how can I get to report to FCCPC and do you think they will come. I came to realize that these price hikes is  mostly practice in the village I mean local areas where the Government can't easily see or trace them. But anyone who's selling beyond the worth of a particular goods in this hard economy is a wicked person, I am not saying that making profit is not good but at least let it not be an act to cheat.

No government in Nigeria don wake up, e don dey like this from day one till today, the only price of product wey don reduce na price of petrol (Fuel) and it's the cause of other products rises in price, once price of fuel reduce, other products remain where them dey. In Port Harcourt, the minimum taxi price na #150, even when the price of fuel go down, e no gree affect the price of Keke and taxi again.
