Do you see such elderly people in your country? Or is it only in Africa? Is the younger ones play gamble more than the elders?

Both I think are engaging in gambling.  The adoption of smartphones I think contributed to all these siesta moments even in the time when they are supposed to be working.

It's the same in my country, you see elder people in the real casinos and not young guys at all, but with elder i mean 50+ YO, and the young gamblers used to do it online, some of my friends have accounts on virtual casinos and they place bets from their phones.

Most of retired people have a lot time that they don't know what they need to spend, so they will do anything they like including gambling. Money isn't their main objective anymore, but their health and happiness are what they looking for, while the young ones are really like to make money.

If young people meet up every week or month, the retired people can meet up everyday.

Where I live, gambling is considered a negative and illegal activity, so the existence of land-based casinos where I live can be said to be non-existent at all, except for land-based casinos which are illegal and even that is very rare, because the security forces always carry out patrols and raids in one place. there is illegal gambling activity. From what I have noticed in my country and maybe the same with some other countries too, I see lately more young people are involved in gambling, especially in some types of online casinos, one of the reasons may be in terms of socialization, plus now the digital world is increasingly sophisticated which makes most people, especially young people, more comfortable to spend their time playing the internet which as we know that most casinos now, especially online casinos, make the internet or social media as their main promotional place to reach more people.

so far there is no definite estimate whether young people gamble more than old people or vice versa in my country, but i estimate that young people gamble more in my country, this is because of the increasing number of online casinos operating in my country and most this casino targets young people as their users. this makes many young people become gamblers and the games they play most often are slots, everywhere i see people sitting relaxing with their smartphones while opening slots, and this is a sight that is no longer strange. but this is just my estimate from my experience, because there is no specific research to support this.

I saw a lot elderly ones playing poker, chess and any other skill based games that can be played offline.

researchgate.net which happens to be a research website, I was made to understand that truly in Nigeria, and most especially when it comes with regards to online gambling, I was made to understand the majority (i.e 79%) of online betting is done by young adults within the age bracket of 18-35 years, which stand to be a large sum as compared to those below 18yrs and above 35yrs who shares the remaining 2 1%.

Most likely. It's the young ones who are here in the forum and know more about crypto and online gambling. And the younger generations are more tech-savvy than the old ones who barely know how to surf the web. If there was just a gambling app on facebook, the youngsters today would have been playing cards with their facebook friends.

True. The advancement in technology and its adoption is what causes the change. The Elderly can't flow along with the new methods now, and finding difficult  to cope with. They still gamble at pool centers with pen and paper while youngsters are using there mobile devices to place bets.

Well, over here where I live in my country, I would say that the younger ones seems to participate more in gambling, than the old fokes, though I still see a lot of old people who gather themselves in a pool shop, lotto shop and so on, for this is the type of games elderly people play over here, the younger ones are more inclined to playing sports betting, casino and slot games mostly online while the older ones are more inclined to offline games which like I mentioned before, consist of lotto, pool, playing card games like "whot whot" and so on, Draft is also among the games the elder ones play, but overall, the youths participate in gambling more than the older generation since their type of gambling is usually online based.

Hardly do we find a young person over visiting open lotto or pool shops, at most, you will find a young person visiting offline betting shops, but this if the person doesn't have a smart phone, or doesn't have access to the internet.

Elderly I guess and probably because they have nothing much to do since they are mostly out of their jobs or retired from their profession. Many of them have their own monthly pension and some are from their children. Gambling is just accessible to many countries even with small bets and place. I agree, they have the means to gamble including financial matter but not all elders are into this activity which is what I refer to, above.

Every age category is onto the gambling not just now, it has been the case ever since I remember. Recently saw a news that a man lost around 6K while trying to bet cause the site is actually cracking the results and used bots on their own to create fake results in the leaderboards who might be in his middle 40s. I don't think it based on assumptions that most people believe that the younger people gamble more than the older ones, it os not lie because if you visit most of the physical casinos this days you see that majority of the players in there are all young people who still have the energy and zeal to take all the struggle that comes along with Gambling.

Although as you said the need for proper research and analysis of this, to know in reality who gamble more between old people and young ones it very necessary for that so that we can easily discard some of the assumptions as you rightly presumed.

For me I don't think I can conclude whether the elderly ones gamble more in my locality or the younger ones. Whatever we see is just subjective and biased which makes it inaccurate for real.

We can only say one or the other gambles more if we take a statistical data analysis to draw a perfect conclusion using scientific methods but from a mere observation which might be correct it not I can say the young ones (youth) gamble more, but sometimes I doubt myself because I feel like I'm being partial because of some respect which I have for elders even I see that they are gambling I don't really consider it because they are old and my subjectivity doesn't accept it.

In my old environment I see elders play draft every day from morning to late night but whet I don't know is they do stake anything like cash as reward for winners but the habit shows that old people of that specific environment gambles more than the youth.
