That is how gambling sites are. Most of them will not demand for KYC from you as long as you are losing, but if you win and want to withdraw some money, they will go through your account and tell you to do necessary things before you can withdraw and requesting for your identity through KYC can be among the requirements.

My topics originates from the comment of this user above in this thread where the OP is writing to seek about KYC stuff. The link to it will be at the end of the topic.

I know casinos do this. I have experienced it too. It is also in their T&C. My question for casino lovers is that instead of waiting until we win big and are asked to submit KYC documents, will you do it before the casino management or administrator request of it? Is there anyone who has gone ahead to fill out and submit their KYC on their account or by asking their customer support for it way before they even start make a request.

Link to original post described in the OP - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494948.0

Its like you are guessing to win a huge amount and you are preparing to make it happen. But that is fine and I think if we are sure that we would play for long time on that casino then I guess its better to do that rather than KYC would be ask once we win big since for sure we will encounter a lot of stress especially for guessing if we could able to get our winnings since verification sometimes may take long days for some casino.

That's why its better to be prepared in such situation since for sure even if we choose a non kyc compliant casino for sure we would be asked if this situation will come so I guess its better to pick good reputable casino so that we can assure that everything is safe and we can able to get what we deserve to have if luck hit on our side.

I only gamble casually, and my chances of going past a casino's KYC threshold (for example winning $10k) are low, so I won't bother doing it in advance.

I'd assume the high rollers would send their documents to get verified right away to avoid inconveniences because it's only a matter of time until they win something big with their max bet spins. They've probably experienced those situations more than most gamblers so they wouldn't hesitate to get their accounts verified.

In for a penny, in for a pound... I'll never play at a casino or sportsbook which I can't complete KYC with if the needs arise, bar the need for privacy and whatnot, an honest players will have no issue whatsoever with an honest casino trying to ensure the safety of their business and customers compliance, that's my candid opinion.

PS: I've done KYC with a couple of Sportbooks even before playing there at all, simply because I'd rather be rejected from playing at the start than having issue along the way, and I've never had any problem whatsoever with them.

Unless for a fact that one is just trying out a sportsbook site, there's always a need for KYC verification and I can state for sure that it has become very common practice for users to do proper KYC verification before being allowed access to some great features on many of these sites.
If nowadays, cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges require KYC verification because money is involved and they are regulated by government so as to avoid laundering schemes too, sports betting sites also have to regulate their sites and unlike a register of members, the KYC verification is a register on their website for members patronizing them.

To be a true member, one has to undergo correct process of documentation and that's why it's a compulsory feat to do KYC verification before laying claim to winnings on a site one refuses to belong fully to.

If the casino is well established and has a license, then there is no harm to provide KYC in the initial days. They are bound to ask for KYC for the Anti Money Laundering cases. Hence if you give them, then it won’t be an issue according to me. On the other hand if the casino is a new casino or doesn’t have any gambling license, then yes I will refrain from giving my personal details and won’t gamble there. This opinion will vary from person to person.

I also have the same preferences with terms of KYC. I've seen a lot of issue in this space that they have denied payout because they are not able to pass the KYC process. Instead of complying it the first place or even on the first bet, they are complying when they are withdrawing which also give them difficulties.

Some casinos requires KYC as account requirements, but most put it last that much serve as hidden rules and restrictions or so.

if a casino clearly asks to complete a KYC I don't see anything wrong with it, since it is part of their current regulation.
If instead they ask arbitrary way the compilation of this documentation just because I won... undoubtedly leaves me somewhat disappointed...  Angry
there is also the suspect they are doing this to avoid to pay....

Generally speaking it is essential that they have security aspects that guarantee the end user does not encounter scams or problems relating to their documents, that's why I avoid KYC in any "unknown" entity...

That's what happens in fiat casinos. If you want to bet with real money you have to verify your identity beforehand, and the most common way to deposit is by card, or even bank transfer, which have your name on them. So it is not surprising that cryptocurrency casinos tend to do that. What happens is that there was a freedom and privacy in previous years that is increasingly being extinguished. So if you are going to gamble regularly in a crypto casino and require KYC better do it early as the OP says and avoid delays if you win big.

It's all up to you.
But, if you think you are not too far in your bet, I mean making big bets then why go for a KYC? Those high rollers probably did the KYC before they even tried to bet because they knew that they would hit the roof at some time and the gambling site would probably urge them to fill it in.

You can submit it anytime you want. I am just on a level 2 KYC because I don't believe I am going for a high amount of bet in my life. So I guess it will depend on our plans on how we are going to gamble.
KYC is just meant for our own security and to avoid money-laundering schemes which is why every high roller must take it as early as possible to avoid problems in the future.

I don't usually do that, as it is just like handling your information freely, especially if you are not going to play or be loyal to that gambling site for a long time. I still prefer to play until win big and asked KYC before submitting the documents. In that way, if I don't lose, at least  I don't lose my personal information to the gambling site.

Though there's some advantage if you gave your KYC first, for instance, verified users were given free credits or spin after it was verified. Also, it can be use to secure your account and you'll be prioritized in the site. But it still depends on the site, not all gambling site do require you to submit KYC and not all gambling site gives you credits if you are verified, so it is case to case scenario.

The ideal is to always stay below the KYC radar. However, at one time or another you will have to face these problems because you will want to enjoy your profits. So, you need to say where they are coming from. Ultimately KYC will be required.

I think almost all gambling sites have implemented KYC verification, but most of them have stated in their tos that KYC is required if needed.
It can be concluded that when registering it is not mandatory to complete it immediately, but indeed the best step is to complete it immediately to avoid several undesirable things such as KYC requests when winning big and this can be much more complicated.
Personally, when I trust gambling site, when I register, I immediately complete verification and I read or understand every tos or rules and regulations of that gambling site.

It just that some gamblers ignore it and when they get big win and then KYC is requested then they think that the casino has made it difficult for them.
However, I think the biggest mistake in context like this lies with the gamblers themselves because they don't understand and try to read the rules and regulations of the gambling sites they use.

if it is not mandatory then they will not even ask you as long as you are a fair player, even if you win.
It is better to read the terms and conditions very well because you can see on some casinos that KYC is not mandatory but if you check their terms and conditions, you will see that they have withdrawal limit to which there is not KYC. If the withdrawal limit is exceeded, KYC will be requested for. Also a gambling should be expecting the casinos to ask for KYC at anytime, regardless of being a fair player or not.

I agree that we all need to be prepared to submit KYC, most casinos reserve the right to ask for it at any time. But my experience says that if we are fair players it won't be necessary. I have been playing in many casinos for years, I have a lot of deposits and withdrawals and so far they have not asked me to submit KYC. This applies to sites where KYC is not mandatory, and where it is mandatory we have to submit it before the first payment, in some casinos even before the first payment.

As I wrote, it can be good to check ToS, but I also trust review sites and some members here. It's different when professionals read ToS, they can more easily notice all the flaws that we amateurs can miss.

Let's image you have verified your account before you win big, do you think the casino won't ask you to send your identity once you win big? they will say it's used to make sure the account didn't used by other person.

You might think after you send your KYC, it will be easily be verified since you're a genuine person, but hold on, they will give many excuses like the image quality is bad, still in investigation or asking other new documents until you can't.

In the end, it's not about how fast or slow you verified your account, this really depend on the casino.

If you have used the gambling service and have entrusted your money to them, why delay the time to submit KYC? it's better to complete your KYC directly, because you don't know when you'll win big, and when that happens and you haven't completed your KYC, it could be a reason for the casino to avoid paying you rewards, on the grounds that the account you are using is suspicious. So it's best to complete your KYC first before you gamble because that is the best thing.

It makes brighter sense to pass though KYC if a gambler knows that in future, he might deposit a huge sum of money and place a bet to win big, or some gamblers are pretty lucky that they mostly win big often then it is good to complete KYC so that they won't face difficulties when they are trying to withdraw it.

I have been in a situation where i deposited a few bucks in betting account and after doing so i was given a free voucher of double the amount deposited. Immediately i placed a bet and i won a huge amount for the first time using the platform. I tried withdrawing to my local bank account but i could not. I was told to wager the amount and to complete some verification before i can withdraw, it took ages before i could get that.

As long as you're playing in a reputable casino then of course it's on your discretion. Well, nowadays it's already common for casino to ask their players to verify themselves, many gamblers are also prefer this one to avoid problems if ever they win big. On the other side casino can make excuses even you're a verified player but I think it only happens when the site is shady. That's why before anything else, you need to be careful on choosing a casino to play in, since scam sites are also existing.

Check the site history and reputation. Look online for his bad reputation in the past to know them. From there you will know if the site is trustworthy to use or not. If it gambling site is trustworthy to use, you can either provide your KYC documents or not depending on how you want it. But make sure you have only one account and not doing any manipulation. Also make sure that the gambling site is not restricted for people in your country but legal.

It is not mandatory to pass KYC before you can start to gamble on online casinos but you will eventually be asked when needed, I know a guy that won $4000 on a casino that have KYC requirement but they  don't ask him to verify, he withdrew all the money successfully, I keep telling him he will be asked someday.

Fast forward to December 2023, he was asked to pass KYC, I laughed my guts out on this day, because he has always laughed when I told me to pass the KYC before he won again, but he failed to listen and instead make a joke out of me.

I as a gambler will always prefer to submit my ID and information first, and when it is approved I will start to use the platform, I am using four different online casinos today and I passed KYC on all of them before I start gambling on the casinos.

My question for casino lovers is that instead of waiting until we win big and are asked to submit KYC documents, will you do it before the casino management or administrator request of it? Is there anyone who has gone ahead to fill out and submit their KYC on their account or by asking their customer support for it way before they even start make a request.

I am a gambler who will always prefer to stay as anonymous as possible but I can undergo KYC when it is asked but it should be reasonable for me.
Reasonable for me such as in order to withdraw big win, I will not refuse if the casino ask me to undergo KYC.
I can say that it is almost impossible for me to play in casino where KYC is required even before deposit because again I prefer to be anonymous.
So if you ask me whether I have submit KYC before the casino ask me to do it, the answer is clear that I have never done it and will never do it.
