Good day, everyone.

Today, I decided to write a post about my new journey to learn about Bitcoin. Though I have been reading as many replies and threads as I could find, I believe I could do better by conducting further research and asking questions that might arise out of curiosity.

I made my introduction post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494763.msg64011857#msg64011857 two days ago, where I clearly stated the need to have an additional source of income that ensures financial independence. Unsure of where to start, cryptocurrency investment was what I had in mind. Along the way, I also foresaw the need to learn everything about it as much as possible.

Surprisingly, I noticed that cryptocurrency is very broad, and Bitcoin happens to be at the center of it all, serving as the leading figure.

Apart from that, I seem to notice that the majority of those dealing with cryptocurrency are of a specific gender. I observed this when checking through X (formerly called Twitter), those who teach about crypto on YouTube, and even on this forum.

Please, pardon my questions as they might sound too odd. Asking questions is probably a way to learn fast.

Here are my questions -
  • As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?
  • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)

My advice is to take one at a time. Focus on what you need most. First, start with their basic knowledge, and as time goes on, you can expand your knowledge by learning more about any other currency you want to learn about. Trying to learn everything at once might keep you in a very complex state.

Bitcoin is not gender-specific; anyone who wants to learn and acquire knowledge is free to do so. Both genders are doing really great, and Bitcoin even expands the idea to others, but not everyone presents themselves the way they are. People who you might think are of the other gender might end up being of the other gender.

Be it male or female, if your mind is open and made up to learn about bitcoin, you can learn and acquire the knowledge to whatever length you want; there is no gender limitation in it.

  • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)

Newbie or expert in cryptocurrency, the preference is solely your choice. There are investors who specifically focus on altcoins while some solely focus on bitcoin and some investors focus on both. The best is to acquire knowledge on crypto entirely including altcoins too and also diversify when it comes to investing in them.

Bitcoin is not gender specific but for both genders. The reason why it seems gender bias is due to risk involved. Men take more risk compared to their women counterpart. By the way, you don't need to bother about this gender issue if you are truly ready for the knowledge.

Some accounts on social media are just after engagement and you should be careful using them as a learning platform. The gender behind some of these accounts are anonymous, same with this forum too. Your emphasis should be on the knowledge being shared and not the gender behind the scene.

• This is a Bitcoin forum, the common answer you'll get to this question is to focus solely on Bitcoin, cause that's what the majority here are doing.
I will advice you to explore 'wisely' before choosing what to focus on. When starting out, I got into altxoins, airdrops as well as Bitcoin. With time my interest in Bitcoin grew cause it had stability, decentralization and was the only crypto I could invest in for 10 years with the confidence that it will be running at that point. All of the altcoins I got into have all fizzled out today.

Do your research and make up your own mind. As a caveat, I did not invest in any altcoin, I gained them all passively. What you're looking to gain is knowledge, not profit, so don't risk your money in either Bitcoin or altcoins until you've fully understood the fundamentals.

• No, Bitcoin is not gender specific. A pseudoanonymous technology cannot possibly be gender specific.

You're wrong about this assumption, you can't tell the difference in particular when it comes to gender base, but we all know that men are more involved into crypto or other kinds of business and investments than women's do participate, nevertheless, we cannot conclude on the fact that there is gender bias on this, it's a matter of choice for each individual to choose on what they want and go for it as well.

    • As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?

Bitcoin first, then later, you may choose whether to include other cryptocurrencies or not, but know that they have more affinity for taking higher risk than in bitcoin, except you're experienced a d able to risk your investment, don't go for alts now or after.

    • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)

No, Bitcoin is s for everyone.

Since Bitcoin is a decentralized network without any authority controlling it, who is going to stop anyone (or a specific gender) from using it, nobody even has to know what your gender is before you use BTC, and i don't know where you have come about that idea.

That being said, the drawback with altcoins is their lack of utility, thus they are quite risky for a newbie as they could end up buying coins that end up worthless. If you don't want to be a bagholder in your early days in the industry, then buy bitcoin, because it has an actual utility and would not end up like most altcoins do.

Bitcoin as you have said already stay at the center of all cryptocurrency. It was the first and has remained king for years. As a newbie, you should be the one to decide for yourself which cryptocurrency you want to specialize on. But I'll advice you to go for Bitcoin as it contains less risk compared to others out there in the market. Bitcoin is quite easy to understand and invest if you take your time to research about it.

For your second question, Bitcoin is not gender specific. Though we have more male investors compare to females but there has never been a time when Bitcoin have been specific to one gender. Anyone can invest in Bitcoin as long as they have enough knowledge about it. Like others have said, you have to take it slow, one at a time. Before you know it you are good to go.

Just remember to be careful of anyone online claiming to help you make a fortune overnight through investment. It's all scam. Bitcoin doesn't work like way.

    Here are my questions -
As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?

As a newbie, it is considered important to limit the level of risk you take, and by that, you are advised to only invest in coins with the least risk, that is the minimal or no risk at all, and bitcoin is that asset that comes with very little to no risk at all in crypto investment, it is important to start with investing in bitcoin, while you take your time and learn about Altcoins.
Like it or not, altcoins are still very important part of cryptocurrencies, so, the same way it is possible to profit from bitcoin investment, it is also very possible to profit greatly from investing in Altcoin as well, but this can only happen if you invest in the right altcoins, as many of them are Outright scam, and to know how to choose the right altcoin to invest in, you need time to learn more about them and their different utilities.

Bitcoin is not gender specific, any body or gender can freely; without any form of limitation, invest in bitcoin, if you are male or female, girl of boy, feel free to buy as many bitcoins as your money can afford, but remember, only invest with an amount you can afford to lose.

If you plan an immediate source of income, Bitcoin investment and holding it until the price doubles or increases in a certain percentage is not an answer since it will take some time to realize a good profit from Bitcoin investment.  You can try trading but it is somehow risky especially when a person is a beginner.

If you have skills, you can try freelancing and get paid with Bitcoin.  If you plan to join a signature campaign in this forum, you need to develop your account until you are qualified for the rank needed by the campaign.  At least it can take two to three months before you be a full member and join the forum campaign.

But if you are looking for investment Bitcoin is the least risky among the cryptocurrency.

I suggest that you also consider learning the curve of altcoins, cryptocurrency is not only about Bitcoin  but also altcoins.  It is also best to diversify as long as you do a proper research on the altcoin you are interested with, I think you will be fine and be able to avoid scam projects.

Bitcoin does not discriminate gender, anyone can participate and join its community.  Besides Bitcoin never asked you about your personal identity.[/list]

      Here are my questions -
      • As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?
      • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)
It is always better to start learning from the beginning and Bitcoin is the genesis of cryptocurrencies. Learning more about Bitcoin will give you the foundational knowledge you need to understand altcoins. I will suggest you focus only on Bitcoin for now to avoid confusion. Learning about altcoins will be simple if you already have a background knowledge about Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has no respect for gender, age, religion, nationality, or color. Anyone can have access to the coin because it is a decentralized currency. Anybody whether male or female can buy, hodl, and sell Bitcoin without any form of restrictions. I assume that the low number of women in the industry might be a result of lack of finance, sociocultural beliefs, lack of information, etc.

      • As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?
As a newbie you shouldn’t learn about bitcoin alone, you have to have basic knowledge about cryptocurrency entirely, having knowledge about bitcoin alone is not enough. Some people do invest also in alt coins but most of their investments is always in bitcoin, and they will leave just little amount of money in Alt coin, so if you learn about alt coins  also it’s not also a bad idea.

      • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)
Bitcoin is meant for every gender, either you are a woman or a man, bitcoin is for you, no matter your age, your religion, gender, your nationality, bitcoin is for everyone. I have seen different women that are professional traders, so don’t even think bitcoin is for men alone.

It's the most common thing for newbies when they start something new or something they want to try but it won't be a good idea if a newbie is rushing to learn although there's nothing wrong about a person interested in learning but if you rush in learning something then a newbie might miss something that can jeopardize his/her security for example and lose money. Even those people who already gain enough knowledge even lose money either losing the access to the wallet or got scammed by scammers through different ways they can think of.

And I hope I quoted everyone in a proper way?.
If you want to quote a post then you shouldn't do it that way instead you can do what I did which I focused on something or a point that you want to reply to if there's a multiple then you can copy the start of the code which starts with quote and then paste it below and then paste the point that you can to reply after copying it. Take my example as a guide for quoting properly. Here's an example on how to do it. You can see it from other replies too.

      Code:
      [quote author=Upgrade00 link=topic=5495059.msg64022838#msg64022838 date=1714669402]
Do your research and make up your own mind. As a caveat, I did not invest in any altcoin, I gained them all passively. What you're looking to gain is knowledge, not profit, so don't risk your money in either Bitcoin or altcoins until you've fully understood the fundamentals.
      [/quote] your reply here

      • No, Bitcoin is not gender specific. A pseudoanonymous technology cannot possibly be gender specific.

This is how it will look:

The journey into the crypto space is a vast and if you think you can actually cut your way through the knowledge then I think you will just find yourself crying at the end because just as cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin is filled with wonderful opportunity, it can also be very dangerous because it has the ability to make or and also break you so understanding the basic set is very important especially when you have the money. Bitcoin knowledge is something that you need to take your time in learning as per the knowledge is vast and remember good thing can also cause alot of pain too.

When it comes to learning, I always think one is not supposed to set limits into it. But make sure know your priorities first. If you aim to be highly knowledgeable with bitcoin, then do your own diligence to learn. Be aware of its risks and rewards before you decide to finally invest. Once you’ve gained sufficient learning, then that’s the time to study with altcoins as well.

The crypto space is originally composed with bitcoin and altcoins, so make sure you get to know about it. And always know that the whole crypto space is offering opportunities to learn and earn to all genders, be it a man or woman, as long as you have the will and interest to keep on learning, then you’re perfectly fit in crypto.

As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?
You should focus on Bitcoin first, it's the best idea for you to get exposed in the market. Its volatility is already enough for you to get introduced and see how it moves.

Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?
Nope, it's for everybody. There's no gender bias for investing in Bitcoin and IMHO, it's the same for every investment vehicle that we are interested with. The matter here is that your interest aligns with what you want to invest and what's suitable to your likings, it's simple as that.
And how you reply to everyone, you can easily follow nakamura's guide or simply put "@username" and then your reply next so that you won't over quote.

      Here are my questions -
      • As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?
      • Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)

Bitcoin is decentralized so it can't be gender specific, Bitcoin is just a currency and no currency is gender specific as it's being used by both the male and female gender. Among the top figures in the space we have both the male and female gender represented although we have more of male figures because they're more risk takers. Bitcoin isn't meant for any gender but for those who are tired of the centralized operation of the governments and want a currency that they have full control of. No government can regulate Bitcoin which puts the control of your finances in your hands and make you an independent individual.

As a newbie you should focus mainly on Bitcoin, altcoins for now should be considered as a distraction to you. When you have acquire full knowledge on Bitcoin and also accumulated enough to your satisfaction, you can begin to play with the market with altcoins because they're solely here for speculation and do not have any long term goal. I consider all altcoins as a gamble and I'll only put my money on them just to try my luck as I'll bet on my favourite team to win a match. Sometimes they win and other times they'll disappoint and this is exactly how altcoins are and aren't that popular among top Bitcoin enthusiast.

Apart from that, I seem to notice that the majority of those dealing with cryptocurrency are of a specific gender. I observed this when checking through X (formerly called Twitter), those who teach about crypto on YouTube, and even on this forum.
I assure you there are lots of females on the forum, you get to see them as you spend more time on the forum. The forum is inclusive of both genders, there is even an award category dedicated to the women of BTT. I agree that there are more men than women crypto influencers on YouTube and other social media platforms, but we are getting there gradually.

As a newbie, should I focus solely on Bitcoin, or should I also acquire basic knowledge of altcoins?[/li][/list]
As a newbie, I recommend you invest only in Bitcoin for now. As for learning, do not limit your learning to just Bitcoin, you should acquire knowledge of all cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. It will help you understand how everything moves in the crypto space.

Is Bitcoin gender specific ?(is it meant for a specific gender?)
No Bitcoin does not know gender, race or ethnicity. Anyone with the knowledge can buy bitcoins and possibly make profits from it.

Bitcoin is a currency and is good store of value for investors as much as it is a hedge against inflation either when considering long term of short term profits from trading or accumulating it. Unless in your country currently, it is only men that earn your local fiat and spend it too, it is of good use in the hands of a male or female or any gender one may consider themselves to be.

As long as you belong to this community, you may not need to be stressed about how your knowledge and understanding of this subject matter of cryptocurrencies or altcoins will develop to accommodate your thoughts. Just be active and do your own research as much as you read and contribute so as not to become dumber in the long run.

Bitcoin was not created for one particular group or class, especially in terms of gender. Anyone can own and study Bitcoin completely. whether individual or in the form of a company.

considering that you are still new, I think it is very important to learn bitcoin completely. When you feel that you have enough knowledge, then you can expand into altcoins. because the main player in the crypto world is bitcoin, not altcoin. even with altcoins, you can get multiple profits very quickly. Even those who are legends on this forum are still studying Bitcoin even though their knowledge can be said to be expert.

My advice is to put aside altcoins first, focus on bitcoin.
