Why is it showing me an old Bitcoin price?

This might be a dumb question for many of you here. I still wanted to ask it and the question is why my old wallet is showing  wrong current price of Bitcoin.

I think the app has been updated to the latest version. The current version of my app is 3.16.2.0 and I did do a refresh it did not do anything. That is the reason I am assuming thay the version is the latest one.

This complaint is common from people that are using Mycelium. Make sure you have your seed phrase, delete the wallet and import your seed phrase on the newly installed wallet. Or go to settings and clear/delete the storage data and import the seed phras

But I will recommend you to either download Electrum or Bluewallet for bitcoin. No one is complaining of this kind of problem on these wallets that I mentioned.

Unstoppable wallet is now also a good bitcoin wallet. It is also supporting altcoins.

You can use Metamask and Unstoppable for altcoins.

I make use of mycelium sometimes and I have noticed they usually have issues relating to connections some times just like Charles-Tim mentioned. They however recently made some updates to fix the bugs but I don't know if the problem still comes up .
Firstly make sure you are making use of the most recent version. Secondly make sure that you are connected to the network with a nice connection. Also make sure that your wallet is properly synced with the block chain. If you are having a hard time fixing the connection problems simply back up your seed phrase and uninstall the app the re download the latest version and import your seed . That should do.
Make sure you also have a strong internet connection and check if Tor bridge is turned on sometimes it prevents it from connecting though it is a safer network channel.

For this not to mislead some newbies, it is worth knowing that he should check for his seed phrase backup and not just go and backup his seed phrase. Immediately after creating a wallet, you suppose to backup the seed phrase in 2 or 3 different locations, but not when something is wrong with your wallet that you should remember to back up. Only what I expect him to do for the wallet import is to check if the seed phrase he backup is correct with the one on his Mycelium wallet.

Mycelium Showing incorrect Bitcoin Price From this discussion in January, it seems price will not be updated correctly if you have slow Internet connection that affects your connection with Mycelium server and electrumx node, and even Tor (On or Off) can affect update of price too.

I launched by dusty Mycelium Wallet to test this and it also showed the last "BTC-to-USD" price that it displayed at that time. ($52k)
Not just the one displayed but all of the other sources are outdated when the drop-down menu is expanded.
My internet isn't even slow nor enabled Tor connection in Mycelium's settings.

I think that this is a common thing but barely noticeable to users who are frequently opening the app since the fiat price could be outdated only by a few minutes.
If you just opened the wallet after idling for a while (when price was $63k), that may be the case.

But after some "random clicks" to check settings, etc. and a restart, it's updated to the recent price and the ticker updates every few seconds.
It fixed itself so it's impossible to tell the issue exactly; my best guess are: issue with their server where the exchange rate are fetched and/or the app's cache.


I'm not proficient with their source code's language but others may be able to tell the issue with it.

Out of curiosity, I also checked a mycelium wallet in my old device, and I am also seeing the same problem. The Bitcoin price displayed in the wallet is still stuck at $34k despite several attempts to try and refresh the app

When I checked the log, it seems there is a problem when fetching the exchange rates

FIO account shows a success but look at the ping it's pretty high and for wapi.myceium.com as you can see it shows 0 ping meaning the wallet can't connect from this site and request the latest exchange rate.

Same here with the Mycelium app on my phone but sometimes it does work it slows down sometimes when I check but at first I didn't update I just tried to change my phone DNS to Cloudflare and the exchange rate hasn't updated yet and still the connection according to logs same as before 0 ping which I think this site wapi.mycelium.com is dead.

Also, tried to ping this domain but requested a timeout and tried to access it with the browser but it showed 404 error.

This might be the reason why it can't request the latest data from Mycelium they should change the source of the exchange rate to another source if they can't provide this data or if they don't want too much traffic who requesting this data they should have a 3rd party source that can provide that data without limit like a sample from coingecko this should fix the wallet app issue.
