Are your parents investing in bitcoin ? Has it impacted your journey with crypto ?

Parents are very old fashioned and tech is not their friend, they prefer old methods instead of new ones. I managed to believe my parents that Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies are a good investment method but they simply don't trust it and they are afraid that what if I want to withdrall all my coins and price is low during the withdrawal time? This is what they are mostly afraid of. Btw they are smart enough to understand that one of the biggest positive side of Bitcoin is that you are your own bank and no one can steal or confiscate your coins.

Lol my father does have some Bitcoin.  I told him to buy, but he did a terrible job and bought way later at terrible prices.. he wanted to sell,  I stopped him, and now he is in profit but just a little bit.

Anyway, Bitcoin is way more common in millenials and Gen z.

Correct me if I am wrong but I assume you are at least 25+ years old and your father is a bit old. Don't take it wrongly but I think that it's a good achievement that your father managed to buy Bitcoin himself if he is 40 or 50+ years old.

No my parents don’t really like bitcoin. They are mostly into the classic stuff like real estate and stocks. I can’t blame them though because they are doing pretty good with those assets. They don’t need to invest in crypto because they can already make money without taking too much risk. Living long enough has benefits like that because time in the markets always beats timing the markets. Ask Warren if you don’t believe me. He made majority of his wealth after he became an elder. He was kind if rich when he was young but as he got older, he became filthy rich.

If your parents are already investing in the stock market then kudos to them, I don't really know anyone whose parents invest in the stock market. In their case I can understand why they are reluctant to invest in bitcoin, they are already getting good results, why should they take bigger risks? If it ain't broken, don't fix it, this is their case.

Bitcoin is much more risky and volatile than stocks, so if they are profiting well from stocks alone, I guess that would be enough for them since they don’t need to take greater risk to achieve greater returns. I bet they are not young anymore to get involved with high risky investments as they would surely become more impatient about it most particularly in bitcoin where its price often fluctuates. You can still educate them about bitcoin but never expect them to bite about bitcoin investment.

My parents are not that educated, it was difficult for me to make them understand about Bitcoin. I gave my parents idea about Bitcoin many times but they didn't understand easily what Bitcoin is. I told my parents that Bitcoin price was very low in 2010, it has increased a lot now and will increase more in the future. At some point my parents got some idea about Bitcoin. But my parents are afraid to invest in bitcoin knowing about the risk of bitcoin, I explained to my parents that long term investment in bitcoin can definitely be profitable. But my father likes to buy land, he buys land only if he has money.

Well in my opinion, land is also a very profitable investment and something I would want to invest in in the near future. If your parents are not that young anymore, I honestly do not see the point of forcing them to understand bitcoin. If you are an adult and is capable of investing in bitcoin all on your own then you can just do it yourself and not have to bring your parents with you.

It seems like they really don’t understand it anyway so just do your own thing. As long as they are not putting their money in unnecessary trouble then I think that’s okay to not worry about them understanding and investing in bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not the only investment in the world and everyone has their own choice, we don't need to be sad or force anyone, especially parents, they belong to the older generation and investing in bitcoin is really not suitable for them.

In addition, I disagree with @Bd officer when he asserting and certainly investing in bitcoin will always be profitable in the long run. The future is unpredictable and we have no proof that what we say will happen, so let's not swear or guarantee things just because we want our parents to invest in bitcoin.

Even now my parents don't understand what Bitcoin is and how I can get it lol. However, there is one habit of theirs that I imitate, they like investing in gold from a young age. I saw that their habits were very worth learning and it was enough to motivate me to invest in Bitcoin. Their consistency and habits made me understand a little about the correct way to invest in an instrument.

Imitating our parents' way of investing will of course be very good, even though the investment we make is different from what they do, because each era will of course have a different way of investing in the past and we can imitate them from the way they invest consistently. as you said and now choosing to invest in Bitcoin is of course very good because this will be very useful for our future.

My parents don’t know anything about crypto or anything concerning bitcoin and I don’t even bother to introduce it to them because I see it as if I do they won’t believe it and instead of doing that to convince them to do something they won’t do I will rather leave it, my parents are not the kind of people that are very educated about technology, although Dad knows he never knows anything about bitcoin, some parents struggle to make money to buy what the family will eat in a day and it will be very difficult for them to invest in bitcoin, some of us come from a poor background and if we convince our parents to invest what they have to invest it can lead to another problem.

Bitcoin is not a short-term investment and we know our parents are not going to accept that unless the parents have another source of income, in fact it will be very difficult to convince a parent to invest because they are not as well educated as us, some might later agree with your decision that he will invest because of the profit you mention in the investment but ones that they see that the investment is taking time and  if they didn’t see the profit coming they can even got angry and start having a negative reaction that they have lost their money.

They don't know the term crypto or more specifically bitcoin at all and my parents have never made a decision about this in their lives.

Personally, I have never been affected by this and I know about the crypto world from other people. I also never discussed investing in bitcoin with them because I was sure they would never be interested in this system. Our parents were more interested in buying gold and land because at that time these two things were the safest in their opinion. Overall, these conditions did not affect me in investing because I had my own views when I was involved here.

We can't force everything, even if it's our parents, because the changes that occur will definitely follow the times. Now we are in the era of the crypto industry while our parents were not familiar with this system. So let each period have a story and focus on reaching the stage of perfection to achieve financial freedom.

My parents didn't understand bitcoin, they knew a little but didn't want to try it. My parents are too old to know or invest in bitcoin. Once when I explained and offered my parents to invest in Bitcoin but they preferred to invest in property. Even when the price of bitcoin was high and I told them, they answered that they were too old to learn bitcoin and the risks were too high for old people like them. Yes, I understand if their mindset is like that because maybe bitcoin was not created in their time.

Convincing parents in terms of technology today is not an easy thing we can do and it is very unlikely that we will succeed in convincing them about crypto, because they are very comfortable with investing in real assets that they have known for a long time and it would be better for them We don't invite them to this risky investment which makes them anxious when they experience failure in the assets they invest in.
What you did was very good, because you didn't force your parents to invest with high risks if they invested and didn't understand it well and you preferred to focus on your own goals so as not to make mistakes in the investments they made.

I will be so brutal but I will say bitcoin isn’t for too older people except they have been in the tech field Long term before. Buying bitcoin or cryptocurrency is just about the money for it but also ways to protect the wallet it stored on are most important. Yes I agree that bitcoin isn’t for just too tech savvy people but also you still need to have that basic knowledge before falling into it.

My biggest concern isn’t even the volatility of price in cryptocurrency, this some of them can handle if you convince them that it is a long term hold thing but the problem is them been their own bank they are easily vulnerable to common simpler phishing attacks like email attacks and can easily lose every thing to scammers which is worse than the price fall we all worry about

That's why I'm not like that, although they let me do what I do because they see that I can survive in bitcoin and cryptocurrency. But they never had an interest in what I was doing.

It is very difficult for illiterate people to understand about digital currency Bitcoin which I understand. My parents are uneducated and very little familiar with technology and internet for which they did not properly understand the Bitcoin relationship after spending a lot of time explaining it to them.

Actually when my investment was going on for two years I convinced them to invest in Bitcoin but they refused. I pushed my parents a lot to invest in Bitcoin and I told my parents if you invest your money in something and then invest it in Bitcoin you will get double money from it if you hold it patiently for a long time. They asked me for time to understand even agreed but there was a disruption that they used the money to buy land later which made it impossible for them to invest in bitcoins.

Nope, my parents doesn't have an investment in crypto although they are aware of it.
They also know that I am earning from it, I think they just don't want to invest in it, they just want to enjoy their life, and I am not against it cause it is their money.

Wow! Nice to hear that your father invested in Bitcoin mate because my parents have no idea what crytocurrency is, as I am the only one in my family and relatives who are into crypto and I never encouraged them to jump-in as we all know how risky it was to be in this industry. I also don't like pointing fingers whom to blame when they messed up on crypto so yeah I just leave it like that.

Many of our parents are quite old already and they don't understand these kind of things. If you tell them to invest in Bitcoin, they'd probably say that "do it for me" and that is because they no longer have the capacity to understand things. I have been educating my parents about bitcoin way back then. But I don’t have plans to encourage them to invest in a high risky investment like bitcoin. They’re both senior citizens so it’s hard for them to control their emotions when they see their investments are falling. And the fact that both of them are taking heart medication, so it’s really not advisable for them to enter into investments that would risk their own condition.

And I think not having them in crypto is quite a relief for more. At least I can focus on my own investment most particularly in times of a tough market that is quite risky to deal.

What kind of experience I experienced with my parents who didn't understand crypto. But I started telling them what crypto is and where my source of income comes from even though I also work as an employee in one of the offices where I live. My parents now know that I have a side job so understand if I earn more it comes from earning crypto. My parents are not in bitcoin because they are enjoying their old age right now so for now I am in bitcoin not because of my parents because even my parents don't really understand what bitcoin is. But with this condition I actually become more enthusiastic to teach my younger siblings and family to look further into bitcoin.
This is not an imposition but indeed just a suggestion because after all things like this can be a good situation apart from making me have a storytelling friend who is of the same frequency, I also do this to make my little family more able to understand what I am doing now.
As for my parents, with their current age, I will not make anything to change their views, especially to invite in bitcoin because I think they only need to enjoy life properly now the rest does not need to think about anything else because retirement age should be used as a redemption for their previous time when working hard.

Certainly no. They hardly understand the new technology nowadays and since bitcoin investment requires it, they find no reason to engage in bitcoin. And I guess that’s not a missed opportunity for them since I don’t want them to get bothered and pressured in making their investment works.

I can always invest for them because I know whatever amount of profits I can get from bitcoin, I also make it sure that my parents can benefit as well. They raised me well and put me in a position where I am right now, so it’s time for me to give back and offer them a good life that they deserved. And I guess this will be highly possible with bitcoin, not for them to invest since they’re old enough, but for me to focus on it and make it certainly work.

Just like we know that Bitcoin is still in the early stages and many of our parents might see no reason to invest in Bitcoin but rather watch their children making money from it. I think as we are investing in Bitcoin that's better rather than to compel our parent to also invest their money when this might not still under what Bitcoin is all about. If we have a good start as a Bitcoiner, we would understand that Bitcoin price would still do better in the market rather than waiting for too long for the price to go bull before we invest our money. The market is quite moving gradually and I hope to see green candles moving up.

Same as mine, they're currently enjoying their grey days, but lately my mom is beginning to pick interest in Cryptocurrency she's seen what I've achieved with it and has got prove that investing in Bitcoin is a very good idea, before the  just concluded halving my mom came across some posts on Facebook concernng it and out of ignorance she asked if it was relating to the Bitcoin am into, and if it would make her very rich we both laughed over it but I laughed harder because that's an ignorant person speaking. But I was impressed afterwards cause she showed interest and asked me to explain what Bitcoin is all about. My parents are hard working and  business minded and I'm pretty sure if Bitcoin reigned in their youthful days they would've been big investors in it, my dad in his youthful days was into Real Estate and had several landed properties while my mom was a government health worker and owned a clothing store. And with the questions they been asking me concerning Bitcoin currently I believe they would've seized the opportunity to invest in it when it came out if only they weren't ignorant of it.
