We are only a few months away from the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad or 2024 Summer Olympics that are scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in France.

With EURO 2024 this is one of the biggest international sport event this year with participation of more than 10,000 athletes around the world.
They will compete in 45 different sports so everyone can find something to follow, and winning a medal in Olympic games is always something special.
Most popular sports are football, basketball and tennis but there are many more sport events coming.

I had never paid much attention to the Olympic games to be honest, This year I was not even aware they were going to be held in France.
Though, I would like to break that tradition of not participating by wagering money on the Olympics and actually select some disciplines which catch my attention, beyong soccer and basketball.
Perhaps, in the end I would end up leaning on Shooting, boxing or Waterpolo.
I assume the Russian federation won't be participating in this Olympics because what is going on in the War between them and Ukraine, though.

By the way, since there have been some threads about match fixing and cheating around in this section lately, I wonder what you guys think about match fixing within the Olympics?. Do you think it could likely for that problem to also persist in this edition? Asking because of disciplines like boxing and shooting...

I like field and track events, especially running. I like long jump and high jump and the one with the stick. I also like swimming. I do not watch the football, I do not know if it is interesting or not but I prefer world cup instead of the Olympic football. But generally there are many other interesting matches which are fun. I also prefer to watch it than to use it to bet. I may try small amount of money this time if the matches are available on bookie sites.

I also like track and field events, specially the heart of it, the 100 meter dash for men and women. However, since Bolt has retired already, we haven't seen any face of the track and field maybe except for a few women. Competition between USA and Jamaica will still continue in my opinion.

Of course as a NBA fan, the US is sending a big squad, maybe it will be called redeem team again. Obviously, they want the gold and restore the order for the USA to be the dominant basketball country.

I think this will be the first time that I will be making bets on the Olympics. I did so in FIBA Basketball and I even made a thread about it but in the last Olympics, I just enjoyed the games, especially in basketball.
Also, this might be the first time that I will see how an online gambling site will manage such a wide range of different sports in the Olympics. I mean, there's a lot to cover so I guess they will be busy preparing all of this and the odds to input in each game. I just hope they won't make any mistakes.

My targets to bet for are basketball, boxing, tennis, and maybe archery. I was kind of entertained by that archery game that I watched in the past although I didn't know whose country was good at it. Yet.

I remember another thread, Olympic Games Paris 2024 - Discussion Thread. I vividly remember that thread because I commented that he should make it more specific and titled "Summer", but the OP didn't want to, anyway..

@danherbias07 - yes, a lot of basketball fans are looking at this Olympics because the NBA are sending their best player, including Lebron, Curry and others. So it will be fun to see them and how they will fare this time as they wanted to get back as they've lost the FIBA if I'm not mistaken and just landed 3rd or 4th position.

So this year they will not have cricket in Olympics but from 2028 cricket will be added to the event. The format of cricket that has been approved is T20, which makes it more interesting. I liked only one game in Olympics and that is the  track and field event. The reason being you don't find athletes from track and filed playing every year. Another game that makes me glued to the TV is badminton, reason being it is now one of the most celebrated sport in my country and I have played the game a lot of times in my childhood.

Break dancing debuts at a Summer Olympic event. This will be very interesting to watch on a global stage with very talented performances who have otherwise not been able to compete as a sport in a global event like this.

Besides this I will be focused on the track and field events, this will be the main focus for almost everyone and the ceiling for the athletes is very high, anyone can make a name for themselves and start a story that'll last the next 8-10 years.cam we have a poll to predict the number of new world records we'll get and which countries will make it into the top 10 on the medal table?

Never been a big fan of the Olympic games for some reason. The only sport I definitely follow is the basketball tournament this year. After team USA got embarrassed by Germany and Canada in the world cup they now have formed a super team with basically everybody you could imagine.

They are serious about restoring the basketball world order this year, you can't deny that.
Odds are so slim for every other team to win this. I think if the US team would not win it would be one of the biggest upsets in history, haha.
So I am rooting for every team they are facing. I know the chances are super slim, but maybe we can witness a miracle.

There are literally so many sports! Its crazy. I always have the most fun watching the Skateboarding and the Surfing, and the artistic swimming thats always a fun one. But then again shooting is also fun & probably my favorite of all these by far has to be gymnastics, those girls are so crazy good its insane.

Hmmmm that is a good question, care to place a wager Sir?  I want to put my money on the US but I feel like China is always so stacked and literally every year it is a battle between China and the US. I think I may actually place a wager on this.

I really love the 100m race. I will follow it live this time. This will either go to Jamaica or US. The marathon will go to Kenya is my guess as they also live in high altitude area and have high blood and oxygen concentration. Definitely that most medals will go to US or China. The reason is because they are rich countries that those sports are encouraged. But those Chinese are naturally good in anything like gymnastics.

Maybe I might also but I am not sure because I prefer football to bet with and it is only those clubs and not countries. If it is not club, I prefer to just bet my money on 3 odds with roulettes.

It seems that everyone enjoys the track and field event as I also one of them. And it will be obvious that in the mens and womens, the 100 m, 200 m and the relays are going to be team USA vs Jamaica. There were Olympics that the Jamaican team really out muscled the USA in this event.

Definitely, boxing as well will be the sports that I'm going to watch.

And in the last Olympics, our country, The Philippines has won it's first Gold Medal last summer games (2020) and it's in weightlifting and so our very own Hidilyn Diaz will be defending his gold in Women's 55 kg.

Basketball really is the top priority for me to watch. I mean I'm curious on how the other countries will perform against the so-called "best of the best" of the US national team. They are disappointed with their performance last time on FIBA hence, they created this super-super-super team to reclaim what's lost with them and that's glory and the dominance. Well, the USA team has won the gold medal in basketball in the last 4 Olympics, so I wonder why.

Wow, Cricket is a big sport already, I thought that it's already included in the Olympics, never thought that they still doesn't have cricket, I guess we just have to watch out for it in the next Olympics. There's a first time for everything, you might want to check out other sports that are in the Olympics, I myself are more inclined to watch the Winter Olympics so it's a first for me too to watch Summer Olympics, looking forward to the greatest of humanity and how far we are able to push ourselves to the limit maybe even beyond the limit. I'm excited to watch the basketball one though, I think that USA is going to be trying to get the gold on this one because they didn't get the FIBA World Cup last time.

funny enough, this is going to be the first year for a long while that I will be actively following up on all major sports events accross the globe. Seems like my undergraduate journey has taken a lot from me and I can't even remember the last time I followed up on the Olympics.

 I would definitely look out for the relay racing since that's actually the second sports I enjoy most outside of football and maybe I will have to follow up on basket ball also. Don't know if my country would be participating in the Olympics this year and the sports they are most likely going to be featured in. What's mostly common in my region is football and its tournament and apart from AFCON, world cup and other major qualifiers, no one really talks that much about other sporting events that's going to be featured in the Olympics. But maybe it's because I haven't actually paid more attention to those other sports and it might be possible that they already have representatives in those sports that will be going to the Olympics.

i just found out that break dance will make its debut this year at the summer olympics. i didn't even think that break dancing could be a sport in the olympics, is it because this activity requires technique and precision to be able to present a beautiful style to the audience? but whatever the reason, i'm quite interested in seeing breakdancing competed in the olympics.

Anyone knows if any new discipline appeared this year? Last year they add one or two, or made sort of a rotation of more popular/unpopular ones. I see two bmx disciplines. Where there two of them all the time? Dressage - I think I am not familiar with this one. I would gladly speculate if there would be a lot of world or olympic records this time.

I like to watch Olympics opening and closing ceremonies which have flavors  of both show and politics.

2024 Olympics adds  the  new events and among them are those which are relevant to  breaking which is (at least for me) is more like dancing show rather than athletic competition  itself. However, youths will definitely applaud them.  Probably some betting agencies will get catch.
