Yup, Liverpool looked horrible in the 1st leg, but they were lucky to grab a win. I don't know what happened there, but their poor performance should've rung alarm bells for Arne Slot. They did improve in the rematch but it still wasn't good enough.
It's a shame because they did really well in the league stage of the UCL (and are on the way of winning the Premier League). Many people, myself included, considered them to be the strongest team and a favourite to win the UCL.

The problem is that the EPL is overrated. I don't see any EPL clubs showing results that would confirm that it is the number 1 league in European (and world) football. Sometimes one club rises to the top level and can even win the title, but the same happens with clubs from other countries. PSG is undoubtedly a top club, so underestimating it was a clear mistake on the part of both bookmakers and fans (and maybe on the part of Liverpool players, although they are professionals and perhaps they understood everything correctly).

Real Madrid fought a good battle against Atletico Madrid in their two-legged round of 16 tie that I know for sure so I don't understand when people are saying that they eliminated Diego Simeone's men with luck. Just like I predicted, Real Madrid hadxa very difficult encounter against Atletico in both games and to be honest, I think both teams deserved to progress to the next round but the rules of the game actually permits one to come out of that tie which at the end, it was Carlo Ancelotti's men that won on penalties. It might not look deserving to you, but saying that Madrid was progressed to the quarter finals because of luck I think is trying to be disrespectful to the hard work they put in place to achieve that win

They truly came out of luck bro, it was a difficult game for Madrid that night and I didn't see any reasons for them to qualify if not from a mistake from ATM player that kick penalty twice which give Madrid an edge of scaling through.

Normally, Madrid already are a champion league club that has paid the price of winning the uefa champions league many times and so the grace of champions league titles has always been following them all the times. Even if they play nothing, winning has always come to them effortlessly.

No matter the result of the game, I think Atletico Madrid made a really good decision to sign Alvarez because his coming has really elevated the team’s performance level and Diego Simeone knows this as well.

It seems that Real Madrid has a very close relationship with UCL, they often refuse to lose when facing crucial games. Qualifying for the last 16 through the Play-offs means that their performance was not too impressive at the start of the competition, now luck is starting to come their way.
I am also not sure Arsenal can stop Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, the winning over Atletico has proven that they are always able to get out of pressure and show their class as the ruler of the UCL.

They have the funds to get whatever expensive players they prefer, and they gather the greatest players who are ready to play for the team. Which midfield does Liverpool have to compete at the top of the league and the Champions League? Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, and Gravenberch can only perform well in the Premier League when compared to PSG; which currently has one of the best midfielders in the world.

In my opinion, Liverpool was lucky in the game, they would not have been able to reach the penalty shootout since PSG dominated them. You wouldn't say PSG was a better team than Liverpool in this season's UCL. They might have enough funds and dominate the French League, but they have not been able to be successful in European competitions. Liverpool lost just one game in the UCL, while PSG struggled to qualify for the knockout stage through the playoffs.

From my observations, Liverpool's standard dropped slightly towards the end of the group stage. When they lost to PSV Eindhoven, it showed that their quality had decreased. But I wouldn't deny that PSG was far better than Liverpool in the knockout games. Maybe it is time for PSG to make an impact at UCL.

Records are meant to be broken and this season many records have been broken, Atletico Madrid did very well this season but is so sad that after every hard work their journey had to come to an end. You'd agree with me that this is the best they have been in a long while, no slacking behind, they always go all out to get goals all thanks to Alvarez who can in to the team and gave their attacking department hope because ever since Diego Costa left the side nothing impressive have been happening in the attack of ATM, but is good to have a player as him Alvarez.
The changes Ancelotti made didn't improve Madrid style of play, just that new faces came and start playing the way the previous players did, maybe next time things about the Madrid side would change.

After the completion of the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League, we're now left with just 8 teams in the competition. Personally, my prediction of who I think will win the comp this season since the start of the campaign have been no other club but Real Madrid and even as we've reached the quarter finals stage of the competition, I still consider them as the favorites.
So I'm throwing open the question of who do you think is the favorites to win the competition this season and why do you think they stand a better chance than the other 7 clubs still remaining in the competition?

It's rather too soon to see Atlético de Madrid getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by their rivalry, Real Madrid. This game was a tough one and watch the performance coming from both sides, the best team wins while the inferior was eliminated totally. Atlético Madrid did their best but we all know it wasn't good enough to pull the strings. At Metropolitano, Conor Gallagher scoring a goal in the early minutes after kickoff, it boosts the confident of the hosts but the visitors were too confident and strong.

Julian Alvarez was never a mistake for Atlético Madrid this season. The Argentina international have become an important instrument under Diego Simone because of his volatile qualities on the pitch. He can play any wing in the frontline, either as a top nine or winger, he fits in all of them.

yes the arrival of Julian Alvarez certainly makes Atletico Madrid even better and of course what I know is that Atletico Madrid's performance has increased since Julian Alvarez  come to Atletico Madrid, and in the Champions League Atletico Madrid has indeed become better and in La Liga I also think Atletico has become better. but yes in this Champions League it is no longer foreign for some reason Real Madrid always gets lucky and of course it has been proven and now of course Atletico has finished its struggle in the UCL and of course now it can only focus more on La Liga and Copa del Rey.

yes the Argentine player is indeed a talented and versatile player he can be played on the front line in any part such as being a striker or winger and of course his contract at Atletico Madrid is still long if I'm not mistaken until 2030 and of course this will certainly continue to make Atletico a strong team and will certainly be respected by all the teams that fight it. of course next season Atletico Madrid's great potential will return to play in the Champions League and I am sure Julian Alvarez will have the potential to perform even better because he will definitely adapt more at Atletico Madrid. Moreover, if Atletico Madrid can bring in new, better players in the transfer market, then there will certainly be potential for Atletico Madrid to be more daring in competing with Real Madrid in the upcoming UCL and La Liga.

It all happened and the reason Alvarez left is very reasonable considering his playing time at Manchester City was very minimal while now at ATM he is an important mainstay. Regardless of Pep Guardiola decision being considered wrong, now Manchester City has found a replacement namely Marmoush. Everything must move forward because even if Alvarez stays, it is not necessarily a guarantee of maximum performance, because this is a matter of coach compatibility and Alvarez shows harmony with Simeone vision and playing style.

Atletico Madrid has performed well that's why everyone is praising the performance of Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid is a strong opponent for any team but this Real Madrid against Atlético Madrid is the last competition. Had Atlético Madrid not lost against Real Madrid in the first leg, the second leg might not have had to wait for penalties before Atlético Madrid would have secured the next round. Despite performing well in the entire match, Atletico Madrid was finally defeated by penalties. If the opponent of Atletico Madrid was not Real Madrid, then surely Atletico Madrid would have played in the quarter finals. Since they didn't progress very far in the Champions League this season, they might plan to do better next season and their opponent might not be Real Madrid.

Guardiola could not properly understand the importance  of alvarez. We did not expect this from an experienced coach like Guardiola. Alvarez's role is very important behind Manchester City winning the Premier League and champions league titles. In many  matches, City won because of Alvarez's last-minute goals. Also, despite  Haaland's injury, City's performance was stable throughout the  season due to Alvarez's excellent performance.

Also, Atletico Madrid is getting better performance from Alvarez  this season. Alvarez has scored 7 goals and one assist in 10 matches in the Champions League. If alvarez was at City this season, maybe City's performance would not have been so erratic and weak

I won't comment on their opponents for not reaching the quarter-finals. To get big results you have to play against big teams, be it in the round of 16 or the quarter-finals. Atletico Madrid's performance against Real Madrid was not bad, they were tough, I will blame Alvarez's illegal goal in the trybreaker as the main reason for their defeat. Even though they played great in the first leg, they lost the match 1-0. If they could have drawn the first leg or won the first leg, maybe they could have qualified for the quarter-finals. Real Madrid are not winning matches by doing anything special in the last matches of the Champions League, they are winning matches after losing. They may not be able to go far with such a performance.

Statistically, Alvarez is not better than Haaland, but he can also contribute to the team when Haaland is stuck. He only wore the Manchester City uniform for 2 seasons then he left because Manchester City released him. Maybe at first they thought that without this player they could still maintain their performance, but it turned out that they experienced a decline. Indeed, even if Alvarez is still on the team, it does not mean that Manchester City can still be like the previous season, but this speculation arises because we see that Manchester City's attack line is also experiencing problems due to the decline.

Prediction time, in green who I think it will pass


Hard to predict game should be only Munich vs Inter.

I think this quarter final phase will be a very interesting one. Watching Real Madrid play yesterday they actually don’t look unbeatable so I think Arsenal have a chance against Real Madrid. Barcelona will defeat Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich to qualify over Inter Milan and PSG to defeat Aston Villa. This is my prediction for the next Champions League phase.

Now just eight top teams are left in this elite league with few big names already out and few are having good luck as they are able to secure their spots into quarterfinals which is impressive now mostly decisions will be happened on ground here talking about which is winner and who is had no chance easy but surprises and upsets are part of Champions League.

In early matches PSG was not good, but their performance against Manchester City give them great boost, and now they are one of the favorite teams to reach into final while Barcelona is another surprise which gone through for good and now have strong chance with Real Madrid is always in top with their quality and consistency. Even few teams are looking big toppers but still its never been easy to have win while Inter Milan and Arsenal are also doing good job with things could be interested in this round for having better view about winner.

PSG and Barcelona obviously have the easier routes to pass on their way to the final. It would be a huge surprise if either Barcelona or PSG get eliminated by Dortmund or Aston Villa respectively. What's true is that any team reaching the quarterfinals must be taken seriously, but for me PSG is the big winner of the last round as they have proven that they are able to beat a team like Liverpool, which is big news not only for them, but a critical message to all of the doubters.
