to maintain crypto assets of course we must be careful not to just click on site links that tend to be dangerous.
That is one of the major reasons why many of the crypto folks are being hacked. They don't mind clicking unknown links and they think that it's all find and good to check them out. But little did they know, by doing it they're putting themselves in danger. It's truly dangerous whether you are aware of these potential threats by using the internet and that's why we're all spreading the warning to the others so they will do good.

I always avoid dangerous sites and store crypto assets on my main phone. I use a PC for work and the main phone is only for accessing crypto assets.
Storing your main asset and portfolio on a smartphone is a big no. You shouldn't do that, even it is your main phone. What you must do is to have your phone dedicated only for crypto because I think that you're able to afford that. Because using your main phone, it also means that you're going from one point to another and you're going places. That's why you need to be careful if you're storing all of your crypto assets on one device that you bring at all times. While storing it on a hardware wallet or a desktop wallet, you just keep it on that device, you only have to store your seeds with several back ups for your safety too.

One constant fact that I've noticed since I got into crypto is that the moment a project or a company starts getting popular or begins to gain a huge follower base, it starts to attract scammers like Sugar to ants.

It honestly gets annoying after a while, I can't join a Telegram or Discord group without being DMed by a dozen of them, fake links flying here and there. A recent example is Bitget releasing a couple of articles to inform their users about phishing and a particular malicious browser extension named "AggrTrade". I've seen similar notifications from Binance, bybit also telling their users to be careful
I've always been careful about crypto projects, be it airdrop, bounty chase, NFT freebies and anything that will make me comprise my wallet and engaged on social media for one task or the other. Except for lately, when I started participating in tapping projects on Telegram, this was because of the success of Notcoin, other than that, anything free is not even my thing because it could cause issues later through various demands or compromises. After this tapping of a thing, I will stop entirely as I can only see that it is controlling.

Do this, or do that is certainly not my thing, but if you do not do it, your efforts will not be maximized, that's the temptation. Notwithstanding, one has to be very careful in the crypto world lately, there are too many projects and they are not verifiable, which makes it extremely risky. Binance has also been issuing a warning on the limitation we should give to any project no matter how true what they preach could be, this is a real warning that should not be disregarded. One could lose enough through phishing activities and other susceptible vices caused by the temptation of the freebies, we should be warned indeed and thanks to you.

Still, I guess we can only just remain careful to avoid falling victim to scammers after all there isn’t much that can be done. What have you guys been doing to keep your assets safe though? Drop some comments, let's learn.

You should know that anywhere that money is involved, you should know well enough that scammers are going to be present their and not because it's the money that draw their attention, they know that their are people there that are not security conscious about how to safeguard their money and that's their victims they come after. Sometimes, these scammers just happen to be similar people like other investors but because they are smart about how the project works, they look for the loopholes and then use that to extort individuals.

It's because of this scams some projects don't create telegram channels for their followers, what they do is they create Twitter/X account for public announcements and then use Discord for chats since Discord servers can't be clone like Telegram where groups and channels can be impersonated and that can result into thousands of people been victim. Just know that no matter how careful the team are, people will lose money in crypto as some investors are new and don't understand how crypto work until they become a victim.

Use a clean PC or laptop when you’re dealing with cryptocurrencies. A separate one is ideal if possible, do not visit any torrent or file sharing websites. Your private keys & or seed are for your eyes only. Common sense & concentration goes a long way to keeping your money safe.

A clean laptop? I might be in danger then Cry

couldn't this be because of the incident that Binance hacked due to the Chrome plugin?
well i read this few hours ago https://cointelegraph.com/news/hackers-steal-millions-chrome-plugin-binance-scam

and maybe a warning to all will work. i didn't see any bybit or bitget hacks but it wouldn't be long since the hacker seemed savvy in victimizing crypto users. it think it should have been just a pin on the telegram channel.
Yeah, Bitget didn't get hacked they just offered a warn due to complaints they have been receiving. You'll be surprised how many people fall victim to phishing scams

Which do you think is more prone to attack, is it your mobile phone or your PC?

I think the PC can be attacked more than the mobile phone. This is why we need to be very careful in accessing sites or downloading things i the internet. Right now they use free plans and subscriptions to draw the attention of people and they also use platforms that are non crypto related to as well create trap for crypto holders.

There are two major thing I always like to secure in the cryptocurrency space because misplaced of your device with those two things can destroy you invest and they are your wallet password. You have to protect your wallet password with all your mind because if some take your phone to make call or check something from you, the person might tempered your wallet so don't disclose your password to anyone. And the second one is your seed phrase if someone know your seed phrase then they can download the wallet app in their phone and transfer everything in that wallet to another wallet and empty the wallet for you. So be careful with wallet information.

Scammers have many ways they are operating in the industry, but it hard for old crypto users to fall victim to scammers because they don't use to listen to their fake information they use to spread in some social media to deceive newbies.

And the moment you click some links the scammers send, you will begin to see some challenges in your wallet or your laptop that will make you to lose some valuable things in your laptop.

It is better you use phone that you are not using in the social media to use for your wallets, and it will be difficult for scammers to have free access to your wallets.

A successful project will be attracted by a lot of people, both newbies and masters in the crypto space. Scammers use that avenue to attack the newbies in a convincing way that they won’t see it as a scam. It’s good to always be aware of the latest scams in crypto, it helps a lot to not get scammed.

Not clicking on any link that comes by and be careful how to interact with strangers messaging you to be a developer or part of a project that can make you more money. Nothing is free in crypto, you have to work for it to get it and in doing that, becareful not to fall in scam projects or fake projects.

Connecting your wallet is one of the easiest way to get you scammed, so it is better you don’t do that and if you think you want to, use a wallet that has nothing in them that can be stolen by them. A lot of scam happens in telegram, it’s the hub of scammers in crypto. Lately I’ve been hearing about Discord too, but I haven’t been so familiar with how their scams are taken place.

Don't accept any give away offers because they will tell you to either paste your seed phrase or connect your wallet. Avoid leaving your coins in an exchange when they are idle. Download your wallets and apps from their official website to avoid downloading the wrong one created by scammers. If you must copy paste your wallet address, make sure that you cross check it over amd over again to avoid clipboard malwares, because I just experienced it yesterday when I was trying to transfer coins from my exchange account to my noncustodial wallet. My clipboard was affected with malware and I was able to notice it.

We all go through this and it becomes irritating when we use same device for crypto and personal use because we are bombarded with the scam messages and now they even start calling you through telegram. We cannot avoid them reaching out to us but we can avoid being a victim by ignoring or blocking them as it's not possible to report them individually as we are added in hundreds of such group.
This often happens when on Telegram there are lots of fraudsters who send us messages disguised as group admins and so on. So, before clicking on a link, we should check it carefully, as well as when we receive an email because these two things make it very easy for them to find victims of fraud.

Because fraudsters will use any means to find their victims and most of their victims are beginners and less careful. It's best to separate personal devices and devices to access everything, especially if you are an airdrop seeker, you are very vulnerable to fraud by connecting your wallet to their website and without realizing it, your assets are lost due to phishing. The point is that the crypto world should not be taken lightly because there are many risks, starting from losses in fluctuating prices and wallet security which can result in our assets being lost instantly, so remain careful and alert to fraud.

as we know, to store assets we need very safe storage, sometimes with today's digital advances, we save them but there are still gaps for fraudsters to get in to drain our assets, it is very difficult to handle even though we are very careful, they have many fraud methods. they learn new things and it continues, and efforts are made to make us much smarter to be able to overcome them, just like the crypto world with the insight we have and that knowledge can help us avoid fraud that happened.

Indeed, separating Telegram for personal use and airdrop is very important, that way our personal area is not touched by new people who contact us and usually offer something interesting. sometimes even though we know beforehand, one day we do something unlucky, remembering that sometimes accidentally due to lack of concentration we follow the instructions until finally phishing occurs

This is a must, one mistake newbies make is to keep their real identities and their identities as investors linked and this is not a good idea, an investor must keep separated devices and accounts, this way you can monitor very closely what you are doing online when it comes to keeping your assets safe, and reduce the chances scammers and hackers have to access your coins, otherwise you will risk downloading the wrong file or visiting a suspicious website which eventually leads to your coins being stolen.

Storing your main asset and portfolio on a smartphone is a big no. You shouldn't do that, even it is your main phone. What you must do is to have your phone dedicated only for crypto because I think that you're able to afford that. Because using your main phone, it also means that you're going from one point to another and you're going places.
Not only are you bringing your phone from one place to another, you are also using it for different purposes which may expose your phone to different risks. Using different social platforms, downloading different apps and software, you never know what kind of risks may those things bring.

Navigating through links may also endanger your device so it is much recommended that you only use your mobile device for crypto alone.

to maintain crypto assets of course we must be careful not to just click on site links that tend to be dangerous. I always avoid dangerous sites and store crypto assets on my main phone. I use a PC for work and the main phone is only for accessing crypto assets.
Sometimes greed can make us to be clicking on unsolicited links which can lead to lose of our crypto assets. Just imagine seeing a big ads offer online and due to the greed in you, you went to click the link thinking you are going to get free money from such claims, and it ended up you losing your crypto assets. There are so many investors that had made these kind of mistakes and it will be good for us to lead from others so we don't make these mistakes which can be too expensive for us. Scammers are always strategizing look for a new means to steal from careless crypto investors that know nothing about their trick to use bot to trace every of their victims crypto assets.

Use hardware wallet, and never approve any random transaction from shady website, otherwise you'll be granting them access to your money.

I personally never ever clicked any link on twitter ever, too much scammer impersonating real account that I think it's easy for us to trip and unknowingly visiting their sites. I also routinely checking contract approval in etherscan so that I can figure out if I did something wrong, since scammer drain our money through exploit of approving spending in EVM based blockchain, routinely checking our address' approval can be a good measure.

if I remember correctly, I think there has been some attempt of creating wallet with built-in safety mechanism that give you a warning about some scam and phishing site, even metamask is also giving you warning when you are visiting some shady defi sites.

Therefore, the most important thing in keeping crypto assets safe is to avoid our greed in pursuing greater profits. Not only that, many people have lost all their assets for the sake of a tempting offer so they forget about the risks after the offer is accepted. We have to know about many groups. who are irresponsible in order to trap investors who are crazy with lots of strategies without them realizing it by losing their existing assets.
My advice is that every time there is something that doubts the nature of crypto, it is better to avoid taking good care of the assets that we have because many traders and investors are caught in site traps. phishing them.

Well for me I think safest thing we can do is have control of our coins. We should not keep them on the exchanges unless we are staking them or want to sell then for fiat.
But it is the best for us to have our own keys for the coins. And to keep them on a hard storage like trezor and ledger. Do not share your passwords with any other person.

This often happens when on Telegram there are lots of fraudsters who send us messages disguised as group admins and so on. So, before clicking on a link, we should check it carefully, as well as when we receive an email because these two things make it very easy for them to find victims of fraud.
Clicking on a suspicious link alone is dangerous enough but once you click a link it might not be totally over yet. A website could just be imitating another legitimate one, but you would still have to input some information for them to actually hack you so when you click a link try to look for suspicious signs. If a website seems informal and is littered with spelling mistakes and random characters, most likely it is not legit.

especially if you are an airdrop seeker, you are very vulnerable to fraud by connecting your wallet to their website and without realizing it, your assets are lost due to phishing.
This is honestly one of the reasons why I am a bit skeptical of airdrops. Itis hard to flush out the scams and differentiate them from the potentially promising projects.
