The title seems like blaming "gambling" while in fact the story says about irrespoinsibility (I prefer to say stupidity tbh) of someone when using money in gambling.
I'm not sure if it is happened regularly or it is happened for the first time, if it is the first time then there is still a better time to advice him but if it is happened multiple times already, it means that he is hardly addicted to gambling and it will be hard to advice him.
You as his younger must be knowing him much better on what to do, it is not the right time to find the reason of what he was doing but you should use the time to have a deep talk with him to advice him so he wont repeat the mistake.

The Major problem is that gambling might mean different thing to different people, what happened to your elder brother is a mistake alot of people do as per not having settling out a specific amount of money to be used for gambling every months as a salary earner of which whether he wins or not he is supposed to stayed within such allocated amount of money for gambling, chasing losses is another reason why people gamble above their budgets and completely ran out of lost, I don't give a fuck about what the society or family feel about gambling because gambling is not as bad people rather it is as results of bad approach others are having towards it, I stay within my limit so I couldn't get into any form of emotional trauma.

Addiction is still the problem of that guy, because when you get addicted, you will hardly use your senses and you will allow your emotions control you in the wrong direction. Addiction has made him not to care about the feelings of his family, and this is the worst of it. Gambling with your salary when you knkw that some persons depend on it for survival, and he was cool with it. We use our own hands to cause more problems for ourselves by gambling irresponsible.

We cannot blame him, but the mistake already committed, imagine the capable of buying and sustaining with that salary, if you are married and have kids I guess making them your priority is a must because you need to save up for all their needs it a lifetime commitment and not just if you cant you will let go, base on your statement your brother hope will come back because he has a family as for now I guess even not your obligation still its better to support them because its family member its not good if you left them too. The above story is very sad to hear especially the above story is a daily picture of a gambling family. But one thing is very important that your brother should not be caught gambling with the salary he was getting while working in a private company especially as your brother is an educated working man I can't support this in any way. Yes, that's right, and I would also say that the man's biggest mistake was prioritizing something that should only be used as a joking activity without taking it too seriously, let alone placing too much hope in winning.

Of course it is reasonable enough, I always try to contact him especially to know how he is doing. Because his family is under a lot of tension, if he is in hiding then surely the lost money is likely to be recovered I never think of it. Gambling addicts lose money and never get it back, so that's why he's on the run. I tried to contact him to explain that if he has to recover the money it has to be from gambling and not income. But so far I am just in failure and can't find any means of communication to contact him

I don’t know if I’m still early on this, but I think and have every feeling that the family isn’t using the right approach to handle this very situation and they really need to recheck their steps so as not to drive the man which is your bro to depression and possible death as this is a very clear case of a sudden  addiction which is mostly as a result of debt or emotional traumas which out to be checked before it gets too late.

Firstly there are quiet some questions that you guys(the family) needs to ask and get the right answers to l, so you can have a better head light to saving your brother.and some of those questions include
- is this the first time your brother isn’t bringing back his salary?
- and also try to check the persons he’s been hanging out with lately
- also try checking the substance his been consuming lately
- and also try checking if his emotional stable
- also try checking if he has any debts his battling
- and also try checking how often his been gambling

Gambling is one of those things where once people get addicted it is very difficult to get out. You notice how many crimes a person has left the family to hide from the family. A person goes into hiding and pretends to be innocent due to debt or family quarrels.
