I don’t think gambling has reduced in Nigeria, it’s possible that people are no longer visiting bet shops like they used to, but you can’t be certain that they are betting online which is more convenient. Only a few persons still pick interest in walking down to a betting shop to book a game and place a bet when they can do that while sitting in their house. Before, I would say online gambling was not as popular as it is today, now that most of our local casinos have also made it necessary to provide a friendly online service. Many have moved to that area, except for a few of those who don't have smartphones and the ones who still choose the old ways, coupled with the ones who can't operate a smartphone. As for bitcoin reducing crime, I think it’s possible but I doubt it has a significant effect because the people who are benefiting from bitcoin right now are mostly literate and wouldn’t have turned to crime regardless.
Not all literates think alike; we still have those who are well educated but have made peace with crime and give blame to lack of job opportunities. We have a famous local thief in my community who finished with a second-class upper in accounting; a few years back, he changed his line of crime into what is now indirectly turning into a legit hustle in some homes (internet fraud), where he claims to be putting his brain into good use.

I don't think investing in bitcoin Will reduce criminal activities in our society and among youths, the reason is that, bitcoin rewards long time investors, it is not something you invest today and make profit in the next day. Bitcoin is here to solve some challenges which the traditional currency could not solve, such as reducing inflation, decentralization and a store of value. Introducing young and old people to bitcoin investing is not wrong, but when it comes to reducing crime rate, I do not think is possible. There are things that can actually reduce crime rate in our society, more especially among the youths, such as learning a skill and offering employment to them, these two things can give money very quickly, and within a short period of time and help to reduce crime rate in our Nigeria society.

It can help though in reducing crimes but not everyone will be into Bitcoin investment, as some people don't have the mind to invest and can't patiently wait, as Bitcoin doesn't guaranteed instant profit, because it takes patience and consistency for one to gain or profit from Bitcoin and there are some persons that lack these features in life and these can people can only be helped, if they are being provided job opportunities or teach them skills, which they can be self employed by it and also in this life, no matter how beneficial Bitcoin will be, crimes will never fade away, it can be increasingly on a daily basis due to how some people don't want to work but always want a short cut of making money, which is not helping or contributing any benefit to the society.

as Bitcoin doesn't guaranteed instant profit,
Yee, Bitcoin is not an investment that brings instant profit to the table thus it required long time in brining something tangible to the person that invested in it, moreover as an investor you need a job that can be sustaining you through your period of investment to get to the time of maturity, however Bitcoin investment can only boast some few folks that have the heart in investing but talking on reducing crime I don't think it's possible. if they are being provided job opportunities or teach them skills,
Normally an idle man is the devil's workshop, when the youths are not very busy with their time maybe as a result of no job or business it automatically makes them a problem and a criminal in the society, therefore making then to be more busy with either job or empowerment or any other stuff that can legitimately put food on their table can be very helpful and with this you have practically got them engaged and this will reduce crime automatically.

I really don’t see how bitcoin can reduce crime, have Bitcoin reduced crime like kidnapping, scamming, fraudulent acts, stealing, murder and insecurity, So bitcoin haven’t been able to stop this things so I don’t think Bitcoin have been able to stop crime or whatever that you have been talking about, talking about how Bitcoin have influenced the youth I can say that Bitcoin haven’t been able to reduce crime with the youth but Bitcoin have been obviously impacted individuals who are enlightened to appreciate Bitcoin and more.
But I must say that Bitcoin have been able to help grow the world economy, people who have been investing in bitcoin for a very long time have been able to have successfully achieved something through investing in bitcoin, we know that Bitcoin isn’t an employment and it’s been helpful to so many people, and it has grate helped the world economy to grow more than we have expected, I have seen so many situations where Bitcoin have helped some individuals grows more and more.
So economically Bitcoin have really helped the society.
But talking about crime bitcoin haven’t stopped crime and I don’t see how Bitcoin would be able to stop crime.

I'm still trying so hard to figure out the misery behind Bitcoin helping to reduce crime. Common it doesn't work that way. Crime have been in the system much weigh before Bitcoin even exists. Crime is a natural cause and will continue to be like that because the world we lived is cruel. Crime doesn't pay, but most cunning people believe anyone that say crime doesn't pay was not really good at it. This master piece is definitely what most high level individuals use to hold their ground and earn massively from crime. But it's certain that it can be reduce but can never be permanently removed. The government is here to ensure there's stability in every scenario of the selective features of the society.

Well I mean poverty and unemployment are definitely major factors when it comes to crime, that part is hard to argue because when people dont really have stable income or opportunities to make money they are more likely to look for alternatives even if those options are crime related basically "man must survive", but then linking Bitcoin directly as a solution to reduce crime might be a bit of a stretch if you ask me, yea bitcoin can create opportunities but it still requires knowledge, discipline and in some cases capital to get started, it is not something that automatically replaces illegal activity like that. Even sef there are alot of Bitcoin crimes going on where people are getting scammed with different projects, so yea.

Poverty and unemployment is really pushing many young youth to go into illegal activity, and that's the fact. When a person doesn't have a job or steady income, the person will eventually start looking for a way to survive, even if it's to do the undo. But the idea that if people learn Bitcoin, crime will reduce isn't that simple. Because Bitcoin isn't an automatic money making system. Many people still losses money in Bitcoin because of lack of proper knowledge. Bitcoin has it own risk. the market goes up and down (volatility) and it will be difficult for everybody to succeed with it. Some criminals even uses Bitcoin to do their fraudulent activity, so for me Bitcoin can't really reduce crime. What can only reduce crime is, job opportunities, good education, or skill acquisition.

Sometimes when I read topic wey dey like this I dey imagine weytin make the person create the thread because bitcoin no get anything to do with stopping crime, when job dey bitcoin na just means of payment so if person dey see bitcoin as job na their them make bitcoin mistakes because bitcoin no be work, na money wey dey for digital world, as we dey forum na we dey do post like the work them dey pay us in bitcoin for signature, so no be bitcoin because the work itself na the signature but the payment dey come for bitcoin, so bitcoin no fit stop crime except you want give people free bitcoin to start life.

My dear no reason like that, although Satoshi no create Bitcoin as.tool for solving crime but eh go fit help reduce crimes wey link to finance, no forget say the blockchain dey transparent so eh go dey easier to track transactions. That one na wetin many money launderers no go really like at all. Many countries done accumulate Bitcoin through seizure from criminals and how them do am na to track huge amount of transaction through the help of Bitcoin blockchain. So I wonder why you think say eh no fit indirectly help solve or reduce crimes.

OP, Like you have already stated that the major factors which facilitate crimes are, unemployment and poverty, Bitcoin do not necessarily have anything to do with crime reduction, because those scammers that have robbed some investors off their assets did not stop their they still continued with it and and even diversify different methods of scamming. The only solution to reduce crime in our society today is, if only young people who does not have the money to further their education will engage in skill acquisition, that is, learn a skill to hold on with and for those who are already in school to study should pay attention to their studies and graduate without wasting their years and money in school. Nowadays most youth does not want anything stress but they want quick money, making them liable to some sort of crime and some illegal acts.

If you look into the reasons for the increase in crime in the society and the state, you will find that most of the reasons are due to illiteracy and unemployment. A proper education system plays a key role in solving the unemployment problem of a country. The abundance and proper use of a country's resources is important in eliminating unemployment in that country.
Bitcoin is an important digital asset for investment. If you do not have funds, you cannot invest Bitcoin. To get a Bitcoin holding you have to buy Bitcoin lump sum or accumulate regularly. To buy Bitcoin you have to earn money. A responsible person can become financially secure by earning money and he can be conscious about holding Bitcoin. Op I do not agree with your opinion. I think a responsible and skilled person can build real wealth as well as he can build Bitcoin holding. I think those who are involved in fraud are not responsible and they cannot build Bitcoin holding.

From the way I look at it, Bitcoin can't help to reduce crime. I understand the angle you're coming from and it's that if they can make money by coming into the Bitcoin ecosystem they won't think about criminal activities right? But that's actually not the case. To make profit from Bitcoin in general involves you having patience and other strong streams of income that will back your investment up or else you can't even buy much of it that will place you in a good profit to even consider selling and using it to take care of yourself and not considering engaging in criminal minded activity.
Even if you're talking about crypto trading in general, most of the guys that are into criminal activities like kidnapping, stealing, organ harvest and other sort of activities don't have the patience to learn trading to the point of getting profit from it. Understand that to even get good returns from trading you have to learn it as a skill and master the art to some extent or else you will end up gambling all your money away and never get any profit from it. Some of these guys aren't even educated to think about reading chats and going into complex stuff as trading and that's why they just steal from people or engage in activities that will fetch them quick Money.
Regardless of how you look at it, Bitcoin is not for everyone and it's not designed to help reduce crime. If you can't learn a skill that will take you off the street and make you a productive person, you wouldn't be able to learn about Bitcoin and maybe make profit from it. As a matter of fact, it's even easier to learn some of this regular skills like barbing, carpentry, welding, shoe making, driving, painting, tilling etc and then establish yourself first and then from the money you're getting from those jobs, you can take out an amount that's going into Bitcoin investments.
If you advice someone that's desperate to have money to start investing in Bitcoin or to go into trading, if it gets bearish, you're in problem and when they see some looses, you're also in problem cause they will assume you lured them into it.
The best remedy to crime is to get them to learn a skill, empower them through that skill or attach them in a place that will engage them actively and this is what the government should have been doing but unfortunately, we've not seen a government that's concerned for her citizens.
I think I kind of disagree to some extent with you because if you look at the question it says if Bitcoin has helped to reduce crime for me I think to some extent yes judging from one of your statement where you said investment in Bitcoin needs some serious capital to be able to invest that amount that can bring a reasonable returns, I think that time you use to invest in Bitcoin or even the discovery of Bitcoin and the features and possibilities that come with it is enough reason to shift a mind that intended to commit a crime and make them have another mindset that they can actually earn a living through Bitcoin and from the little that I know I have seen a lot of youths who has left the street and are doing some meaningful things with there life because someone introduced them to Bitcoin and they embraced it.
