We never had issues with any newbies and I have even called out on the tenured users of this forum to be more polite towards newbie but the only humble request I have with newbie in addition to the list of pointers is please do not indulge into shill marketing or marketing scam projects.
I think if the newbies of this time is more concerned about how they are being spoken to by a couple of users own here, they would never learn much on this forum neither would there association skills be any better. All they need is to grow a thick skin and be used to being criticized and there ideas not agreed upon often because, that’s obviously what you’ll find when you’re in a forum such as this. A forum with people from all backgrounds and culture. You wouldn’t expect them to behave and relate the same way. You just learn how to take and take even more, be grateful for the kind words and tolerant of those that aren’t.
It’s the Bitcoin related and cryptocurrency knowledge you need so, filter that.

If we can deceive ourself, then in some cases, we may not be able to deceive others with the way of our behavior, when  you know something, then that becomes part of you and no one can take such a way from you, if you also consider the way of how you express yourself, this will be done confidently because you're sure of what you're contributing, unlike a newbies learning and trying to frame things up that he know nothing about.
learning and asking is much more important than pretending to know

I myself really hate beginners who feel like they know something without ever explaining something in detail, they know little but talk a lot

I was ever an beginner in crypto, but I learned slowly and often asked other senior members questions, this made my insight into crypto grow rapidly

Survival (if I should use that word) on the forum depends on how much motivation you give yourself because that's the only thing that can keep you going, in my personal opinion. Sometimes newbies put what they can stand to gain in front, like bounties, sig campaigns or even merits and tend to focus their energy towards achieving these( which is not a bad thing to strive for) but may not have the right amount of thick skin to see this through because for you to move to the next rank, you need merits and so what happens when they aren't forth coming and instead all you get are criticisms( not minding if they are constructive) to enable you grow.
When you're able to motivate yourself without needing anything to motivate you, it becomes easy when all the merits don't flow as they should and instead of throwing in the towel, the urge to do better so you can get the merits will be there.
It's easy to see these "hey, I'm a newbie. Need guidance" threads but often rare to see those said noobs continuing. It's as if they were infatuated with the forum for a while then lost interest after the whole excitement clears.

You can use the forum with freedom and no one will kill you. Read forum rules and obey rules, you can use the forum for reading or posting without problems and survival is like too much exaggeration.

Hehehehe, I used the word 'survival' as it's often the word most newbies tend to use. Like you said, it's a platform where ideas and knowledge is being passed freely and users are supposed to act same, not restricted like they are in a place where there are sheriffs who'd penalize you for just breathing! Grin
Yeah, maybe I laid on the exaggeration a little bit too much but that wasn't intentional.

As a newbie here on bitcointalk, there is need to apply all cautions to protect your motivations because if you lose your motivation you lose focus and forum will become boring for you at a point so to avoid getting to that worst stage of your forum journey you need to have a few things at the back of your mind.
Everyone has a motives that brought them to this forum,  and achieving that concept is usually what derives the us individually to focus and grab that which is expected.

Being aware that nothing good comes easy, it should be expected that trials on the form of distractions and discouragement from other members in the forum would be actively gazing at us but consistence to resist them is an anchor to stay onboard and explore while the goals for being here is achieved.

So newbies, do not get worn-out when blames gets to you when you are expecting being cheered. The truth is that you might be think you are doing it well while still a beginner and only those who are ahead of you can testify whether you were right or wrong and believe it, some members here may not have that friendly approach with you while contributing to their best just for you to learn you began to feel professional.

You don't pay anyone for teaching you so most persons might have that anxieties to relate with you on an selfish interests and does not cares about your emotions.
I just hope any of that does not kill your ego while in the forum.
Just stay warned, focus and submissive to learning at any sensitive conditions and then you will have it all history to tell somedays after being grounded and achieving your goal in the forum.
Good luck to all newbies.

5: avoid getting involved in forum politics and never take side for any reason, if you must comments on such threads, you have to do so with discretion and stand only for the truth.

is there anything like forum politics here? Wow.
I thought everyone that's here just engages in discussion to the best of his knowledge and doesn't really take anything too personal or tries to know stuff about a third party? If such thing exist, how do we know that we're taking side most expecially if we're just supporting a view that's in line with what we think about the subject matter?
I think you misunderstand what the OP means in his statement of forum politics.

What the OP means, is being involved in discussion threads between forum members on the Reputation board. For instance, a forum member is been accused of plagiarism, merits abuses, account connection by crypto addresses, scams, etc.

1: don't think that other forum members don't like you simply because of the approach and responds to your contributions, you need to develop a thick skin and also learn the hard way to become hard yourself.

2: avoid getting into discussions you know nothing about, it better you read others comments instead of writing low quality comments that could attract unfair response to your comments because that also will born out your interest.

3: don't invest in any projects or offers that seems too good and high profits, no free lunch any where not even in free town.

4: respect others and be polite to all forum members high rank and newbie's inclusive.

5: avoid getting involved in forum politics and never take side for any reason, if you must comments on such threads, you have to do so with discretion and stand only for the truth.

Alot more ways that I personally think can help a newbie to remain motivated and free here in the forum.
I appreciate your concern and guidance for the newbies, I will implement all I have read in this thread. Finding this forum is one of the best things that has happened to me this year and I don't think I will take it for granted to the extent of loosing motivation.

You said newbies shouldn't think that other forum members doesn't like them because of their approach and responds, well I know that unfair response is inevitable for misbehavior in any community so newbies should be careful.

This is good advice for newbies not to be involved in forum politics. There are times when I see old forum members having issues and gunning for each other's throats and while I am just going through the thread I see newbies and and newer members involving themselves in the circle, taking sides and passing judgments. There's no forum law against it obviously, but I feel like there is no way to know the full story when you've not been on the forum long enough and when you don't know the full story.
Most times people take sides based on who they like more and not based on who is actually right or wrong.

For me, the only way to keep up your motivation on the forum and bitcoin, don't take the forum too much seriously. Don't let the forum creates pressures on you as you are here to enjoy and broaden your learning with crypto and bitcoin, making a living is just a bonus, it's not actually designed originally to offer us great profits. But if you can benefit the forum and enjoy it to the highest level, then great, that would be more productive on your part.

#1 was the huge issue I had. Someone did tell me something similar too. Despite my negative experiences at times here I still had plenty of positive experiences and I loved my time here and I respect plenty of users here. I am glad to still be apart of this community at all, even if my life prevents me from being here 99% of the time. I'm not the free man I once was with all the time in the world.

Right now, my new main focus of being on this website is to just try and improve my privacy (which is why I've made a small return, knowing that bitcointalk's community is extremely good with privacy tips). Other than privacy, My prime interests in life don't really align with bitcointalk anymore compared to the past. If I had a new main interest that Bitcointalk can help me achieve (which also aligns with improving my life) I'd be back actively here everyday in an instant. I still try and recommend people and friends about this website whenever I can.

(#3)As for scams yeah, there are plenty of those thieves here that people need to be aware of, like in all communities. Cybercriminals never stop.

(#4)As for respect well, people including myself have made that mistake. There's people who are just disrespectful here for absolutely no reason while theres people like me who get pissed off at times.

This thread is good for the newer users of this website. But I do believe that self-reminders of the reason as to why the user created their account on Bitcointalk is highly important. Thinking of my primary intention/goal was personally my motivation of being on this website even at the demotivating times. And then when the user completes their initial goal, thats when they can ask "Is it worth staying here on Bitcointalk? Can Bitcointalk help me achieve anymore goals, or is there anything valuable I can learn about?"

Self motivation is essential in a newbie's life in regards to growing an account.Correction isn't hatred,if a person doesn't want you to learn then the person won't correct you when you make a mistake, the high rank members on this forum are always willing to correct newbies who are misled by wrong information. So when a newbie start developing the thought of being hated by high rank members that's where the motivation of he/she dies off.Though corrections may come in a polite or rude manner,it doesn't matter how you were corrected the fact is take correction and move on.All the high rank members on this forum started as a newbie but today they're no longer newbies because they were motivated when they joined the forum.

I think it's not just high rank members to newbie members. Knowledge is not based on rank. And anyone can give advice based on their knowledge in the discussion forum. Differences of opinion are natural, because the understanding of one member with another member may be different. There are also often differences of opinion regarding certain topics, but with these differences of opinion, we will know which is better. No one really criticizes a beginner's mistake who wants to learn. Criticism is given only to those who are wrong and do not try to improve to be better.

It has a different types of newbies out there, those newbie just came here in the forum create a thread and then vanish like they didn't came here, next is those who make an introduction and really urge to learn with their journey actually after they learn that they can earn here with the signature they are keep creating thread like the other newbie did and keep doing as possible to gain merit but sometimes it's getting overreacted with their contents reason why other might ignore them. I came from the newbie until I reach this rank as you can enjoy the learning and once you already understand what are the things you've needed the merit will come. Also hopefully newbie understand how other member approach of course we have different personalities.

Very rightly said, there are classification to newbies and each member have they own peculiar nature and approach to things even regards to discussions and how they engage in them, some of the newbie's that come to the forum and then varnish after a few engagements are all based on the fact that there have a purpose of coming here and some of them stumbled on the forum by search engines and when they get registered, at a point they lose interest and decided to back out.

While we have other set of newbies that have the strong determination to build a reputation and getting known in the community, so one can not compare both even though they are both newbies.

I accept that knowledge is permanent and once you gain knowledge you are free from the limitations that can can from the not knowing that thing and that is why there is a popular saying that knowledge is power, those that have the knowledge of something are basically a master of such things but there is a set of newbies we have around the forum who thinks that acting as if they know a thing will give them the chance to avoid the punishment of ignorant.
Thank you big guy for the informative topic. I really grabbed a thing or two going through the entire thread.

I think knowledge isn't a permanent thing, it stays with the person and long as the person is consistently practicing with the knowledge, else it leaves you gradually if you're dormant.

Knowledge can go extinct too if the person isn't updating themselves in the chosen field and that's why we're are encouraged to keep engaging in the forum, learning and unlearning everyday to be updated with the most recent information so that our knowledge would remain valid.

There is no such thing as a master of anything, as long as there's a thing or two tho be learned to become more informed or efficient, we're all students of different subjects and careers of interest.

Newbies should not chase for merits, it will definitely come right in time when you’ve understood already how the forum works and how you can apply all the relevant information you’ve gained from the different topics and discussions in the forum. And when that happens, merits will be then easy to get because you are already doing the right thing.

However, whether your posts get merited or not, the most important thing one should do is to show consistency in the forum. Newbies will eventually grow into heros or legendaries if they keep working on their craft, without leaving the forum unreasonably.

Newbies have nothing to worry about, they just have to pass through the terms involved in the forum and also try to the best of their capacity to ensure they're stick to them. The forum works entirely on its own. We have nothing to worry about whenever in the space because it have certain vast numbers of benefits for the members that are able to dedicate their time and without hesitation.

Well said, there's a reason why you joined the forum, just concentrate on achieving that reason especially when it's of a positive reason and not negative. If it's negative, you have to change your goals to that of positive and  then concentrate on it. You don't owe anybody here anything but only owe the the forum your quality contributions to help keep the place healthy for future newbies to get the information they'll need to develop into a well informed Bitcoiner. To do well on the forum isn't hard but you have to be willing to take criticism as corrections that they are and not as an attack.

There are some of the points by the OP that I don't fully agree with as the forum is opened to all and we're all welcome to participate fully, that's to say we're all welcome to join the forum politics, discussion etc but I understand what you meant as cautious is needed as a novice. Our focus here should be to add to the knowledge that we already have and also give out when needed but we shouldn't forget to enjoy the forum. Partake in every activity but don't overdo things unless you're ready to handle the heat that comes with being very active and outspoken on the forum.
