Coinmarketcap (CMC) does not make it simple. I get it tho, with 1000s of new coins created every week, they must get a 1000s of applications.

But the exact process for paid listing is very confusing. The submit form has no option to select for a paid listing.

From what I can make out, the steps are as follows.

CMC Listings Criteria

https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/16945563933723-CMC-Priority-CMCP

CMCP - CoinMarketCap Priority

https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/16945563933723-CMC-Priority-CMCP

as of June 13, 2024, the current pay-for listing packages are

(C) Pricing
We also offer pre-paid packages with quantity discounts.

C1- Coin update/listing (USD5K for items 1-12 with ~24 hr ETA after payment is confirmed)
  • Price (asset must be listed on an existing CMC exchange that is feeding API data to CMC)
  • Website 1
  • Website 2
  • Block explorer 1
  • Block explorer 2
  • Contract address 1
  • Contract address 2
  • Social URL 1
  • Social URL 2
  • Technical documentation URL
  • Maximum Supply
  • Total Supply
  • NO circulating supply updates (this is the only channel)

C2 - Exchange update/listing (USD 50K for items 1-6 with ~14-day ETA after payment is confirmed)
  • Website 1
  • Website 2
  • Social URL 1
  • Social URL 2
  • API update (Needs to match our API template, especially UCID)
  • Add up to 50 markets for assets that already have a CMC coin page. Pages like Uniswap v3 (Ethereum), and Uniswap v3 (Arbitrum) are counted as two separate integrations.
  • We will not provide advice on how to game our exchange rankings beyond what is already public knowledge. We cannot guarantee a 'good' rank or immunity from our outlier exclusion algorithms.

C3 - Custom update (>USD 5K+++ for items 1-7 with ~14-day ETA after payment is confirmed)
  • Custom fixes (USD 5K++)
  • Slug redirect (subject to availability; USD 5K)
  • Smart contract audit badge (USD 50K per year)
  • Chain integration + DEX bundle (USD 80K) or UTM tracking (USD 20K)
  • Proof of Reserves (Depends on complexity)
  • Duration-based retainer service (>USD200K)
  • Category page (USD 10K) | Homepage trending category (USD 200K for 10 days)
  • Others (feel free to indicate in the form and we will assess the feasibility)

(D) Workflow

Don't trust, verify. To avoid being scammed, please cross-reference these links across official CMC resources ('get listed' button on CMC homepage, socials, etc). We won't DM first. All communication will be initiated via tickets from our official forms to mitigate risks. Visit www.coinmarketcap.com > Scroll to the bottom > Click on 'request form' OR 'methodologies' to verify that the links are authentic.
Payment will be requested after we have provided an ETA in the ticket.

After receiving payment and completing the updates, we will close the loop in the ticket.

Payment shall be made from a clean wallet address that has not interacted with any non-compliant source (e.g. mixers, sanctioned, stolen/illegal funds).

Usually, CMC or even Coingecko listings are free the pre-paid packages are I think when you need to edit/add something in your coins/token page like a sample website/blockchain URL or total supply that thing requires payment based on what prepaid packages they listed above.

I don't see any offer from coinmarketcap that they will ask a payment to prioritize your list even me is confuse from what they offer above but the only sure that I understand listing cost are free on both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko the packages they offer is just a extra services.

CMC changed some of their policies on this.

From what I can tell from the article. It appears only projects who has gained enough community interest will be free of charge otherwise the team has to resort to paid listing. 🤔

Quote
We will continue to closely monitor market trends and prioritize listings/requests that have strong industry interest/traction for free to ensure that our data is as (verifiably) accurate and comprehensive as possible.

While our automated system does much of the heavy-lifting, we still receive thousands of requests for listings and page updates, resulting in a sizable backlog. For these reasons, we now offer a tiered fee model for those who want us to quickly process non-automated updates.

Let's say a project hasn't gained enough traction yet nor does its team want to pay for listing packages, it will continuously be placed in the backlog as there will always be entries ahead [which have met either prerequisites] of them knowing how popular CMC is.

That is good to know. Wish CMC was more clearer on procedure.

I talked with a friend who is lead on one of these coin projects and they got listed on CMC. I asked for procedure and here is what he said.

=====

Yah we got listed pretty fast by going through CMC directly.

We submitted full application here. Click on first link for coin listing. [New Listing] Add cryptoasset and fill out as many fields as you can and submit screenshots of your socials and website at the bottom of form. Most important part is using email address that has same domain as your project. Example: support@yourproject.com so you guys will need to set that up if you haven't already. Also in form they ask for team members names you can just give them twit usernames of team. No real names or real info needed.

https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/16945563933723-CMC-Priority-CMCP

After you submit your application, they will immediately send you an email with application number. Take this application number and tweet it from official project account on X right away. Just put something like "CMC application submitted - 77777" with your application number in the tweet.

They will do verification checks on your project. This took four days, maybe because we submitted on a Friday instead of Monday. Then they sent us another email with an agreement form. We had to agree to the listing terms.

On following day, they sent us invoice to submit payment for fast track listing. At this point, you can either pay the invoice $5k to be listed within 24h, or not pay and just wait for them to do it for free.

Day 1 - application submitted
Day 1 - receive two emails from CMC
Day 4 - after verification checks, CMC sends agreement form
Day 4 - Reply to CMC with agreement and provide URL of application tweet, and official team contact email
Day 5 - CMC sends invoice with payment details
Day 5 - Submit $5k payment from clean wallet (BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC are acceptable)
Day 5 - After payment submit, email CMC with TXID to show proof of payment
Day 5 - Listing happened within a few hours after payment but they say ~24-48 in their email
Day 6 - After listing is live, submit application for SRD (Self reporting dashboard). Use same official email you used for application.
Day 9 - SRD access granted.

For payment, if you guys are sending ETH, make sure its ETH on Ethereum and not ETH on Base. We had to convert (swap) our marketing funds from ETH on Base to ETH on Ethereum. Then we submitted payment directly from a fresh wallet instead of our marketing wallet.

And you guys will get hit with all kinds of offers from people claiming they can get you listed faster. Don't use any of them. They can cause big problems and you can get scammed easily. They can destroy your project before you get going. Just go through directly through CMC and you won't have any problems. CMC and CoinGecko listings should be the first things your team does after launch.

An average of $5,000 per listing is very high compared to the services it provides, in addition to being part of the Binance system, the number of tokens that are listed, and even the projects that are listed for free. This is done because they bring more profits from advertisements.
Personally, I prefer that the team focus on free listing and try to achieve fame to be listed for free instead of paying all this money to CMC.

If this information is true than CMC must be crazy and greedy for asking so much money for updating information on already listed exchanges or coins.
I not surprised about this prices since they are owned by CZ and Binance and I guess they have to pay his prison expenses...
Just visit CMC privacy coin page and you will understand why I don't recommend anyone to use this website.
There is much better and free alternative called Coingecko, they don't charge anything and they are much more neutral than CMC.

I know for a fact that listing on CMC is free by default, and same goes for updating the info on already listed altcoins. With that being said, there are services that charge you to do the work instead of you as it can be complicated, and some CMC employees that are taking money under the table to speed up certain things.

I agree, Coingecko is indeed better, but CMC is still more popular website that brings more visibility to exchanges/altcoins.

I always thought it is paid service LOL
How come some of the forum member also ask for fees to list on CMC then? I saw some topics around a few times.

Because they offer it as a service and they do it instead of you as some people can't bother to do it by themselves or they tried but failed for whatever reason.

Iirc, some of those things are a little bit more tricky to submit so no wonder they there is an interest for that service.

The irony is I thought it takes 10s of thousands of dollars to list a project in CMC LOL

I didn't think there was a listing fee on CMC!!! I thought it was free and I thought they carefully reviewed new projects before listing them and did not accept any project easily, but as I see there are some services that cost very large fees, some of which may reach 200 thousand dollars, such as these:
Quote
Duration-based retainer service (>USD200K)
I don't know what this service is and why it is important that it costs such huge fees?

I know CMC listing was free few years ago but things changed a lot since then and I heard from different sources they are not accepting requests for free updates and changes for coins and exchanges.
Maybe they reduced stuff and don't have time to make changes all the time, especially for smaller projects that are not priority.
And yes I know about third party services that charge fee for this Wink

Afaik, if you enable self-reproting dashboard, it makes it much easier to update the info about your project/exchange.

Maybe they reduced stuff and don't have time to make changes all the time, especially for smaller projects that are not priority.
I have no doubts that they reduced the stuff and are trying to automate as much things as possible (as bascially everyone is doing nowadays) which then makes user experience worse and customer support worse.
