From my own understanding, without your instincts you won't be sure if what you are doing, but the main point is even if your instincts tells you this and it didn't work doesn't mean your instincts is not telling you the right things. However gamble is a thing that without luck you won't be able to win even a half $ from it. As a gambler, you deserve luck to win and most times your instincts and your luck works together. I don't think there is some realiable relation between one's gut feeling and the outcome one could have while having a gambling session, or playing lottery, to be honest.

Gamble is a gamble that needs luck to win, that's why the dude was lucky to win $2M. It's important to follow our instincts because most of the times, our instincts doesn't lie to us. However he might only want to try his luck, because when you don't try your luck by risking the amount you can afford to lose you won't be either lucky to win. To be honest, it's hard to believe in something like this, but I also don't deny that premonitions are sometimes right and sometimes wrong, because several times I have also done it and experienced it, and some are right and some are wrong, this cannot be understood how it works let alone described with a logical explanation, maybe this is a mystical thing in humans themselves.

I'm a regular lotto bettor and scratch ticket buyer and most of the time I rely on my instinct, but my instinct can only get me 2 or 3  correct numbers but I still follow them, my reason is there's a feeling of excitement or fulfillment even if you hit 2 or 3 numbers instead of doing lucky pick totally relying on luck.

True that, winning while following our instinct brings more joy than just choosing number randomly.  I can see the adrenaline rising when one is betting according to their guts or instinct since I also experience that.  Although it brings more joy and excitement, I doubt it can help us in winning on any random games.  Besides, I also have experienced losses while betting on my hunches.

When dealing up with lottery then this is something normal and i dont really believe about mathematical calculation since we are talking about lottery on which we know that odds on hitting those combinations
would really be that close to impossible, even if you do buy hundreds of thousands of tickets but still it wont really be giving out that guarantee that you could really be able to win. So everything would really be
