Even as a responsible gambler, you may not be taken seriously if you advise another fellow gambler who is having problems and slowly becoming an addict to stop gambling completely.

This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.
"for you can hide the truth from them, but you can't hide from the truth yourself "... If you're an example of the negativity in something, but you wanna pull others out of it, of what purpose does that reckon? "You can't be stuck in a mud and you're also trying to pull someone outta the mud as well" control YOURSELF and let there be a positive response on your attitude before going ahead to advise another person. Why? You are just as good as they are...
Quote
If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.
Did you just say we can help 'em find another source of income? Are you serious right now? You practically can't provide for everyone in the situation you just described, but even if it were possible, always remember -- "you can take a man away from the hood, but yo can't take the hood away from the man"

In this current generation, can someone actually stay totally off the internet ? I personally don't think so because the world is already going very digital that it seems very impossible for a frequent internet user to stay off the air for that long especially because of something that he believes might even change his life story for good.
A lot of people think addicted gamblers only gamble just for the sake of gambling but in the contrary they also have the hope and expectations to win and that extreme expectations to win is what makes them continue gambling at all cost.

Is sending all your funds to someone actually save? I understand that you have to trust the person before giving them your money but the question is, can the other person also trust and stay committed to safeguarding your funds?
The world is evil and the Bible also stated that the heart of men are desperately wicked and everyone knows that money itself has its own spirit and can make someone do things they never expected to do which makes giving out funds isn’t the right idea.

Personally I think one of the good ways to practically help an addict is being physically present with them because what they actually need is love and patience
Listen, shutting oneself off from the internet today is like cutting off the globe. The internet is a tool - a quite effective one. Make advantage of it. From it, learn. Connect with it. Gambling? It is not the devil some people portray. Its a calculated risk, like any business deal.

Sending money around the globe? Indeed, it can be really frightening. We are not cavemen, though, now. We create systems; we secure stuff. It is about control rather than stopping the flow. And supporting someone else in addiction? That is the essence of human existence. Its about presence, showing up, being a shoulder to cry on. We build great families and great communities this way.

Thus, people, dont panic; instead, Be wise, conscientious, and supporting of one another. Thatd the winning recipe. We create America great once again in this way.

Even as a responsible gambler, you may not be taken seriously if you advise another fellow gambler who is having problems and slowly becoming an addict to stop gambling completely.
Most people will think you are like them when you try to advise them about gambling addiction. But not everyone who gambles is addicted to gambling, that’s what most people don’t really understand. Some people gamble just for fun, but if people see you gambling, then they will think you are addicted to gambling.

This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.
Why do I have to hide my gambling activity? I don’t do my things like that, if you see that I am a gambler and I advise you, then it’s left for you to listen to me or not, but I won’t hide my gambling activities just because I want to advise anyone. I will tell them I am not addicted to gambling, and I will like them to follow my lead.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.
Some people have other means to make money, but they will prefer to take gambling as a source of income since they believe gambling is an easy way to make money compared to going to do a job, and they will be underpaid.

There aren't any... stop inventing ideas to help with simple advice, addiction is something complex and if you are a player you are the least indicated to help, the best example is not being related to anything that has to do with gambling.

If anyone seems to be addicted in to gambling

1. go for a break or quite if possible

2. Don't associates yourself with those that gamble

3. Always have a certain amount of money to allocated to gambling and just stay within it

4. Monitor the time your spending while gambling (timing)

5. always getting yourself in the mist of people that don't gamble can also help alot

Definitely no lol, who're the ones that want to stop catching their dreams, stop to build their career, leave their family, friends and anything that they already comfortable with the place they live just for fucking gambling problem.

It's like learn how to kill your soul, you can get rid from gambling problem, but you will have new problem like depression, culture shock etc.
Frankly, a lot of these gambling addiction stories are that of online gambling and this is as a result of frequent use of the internet and we can’t just shun people off the the air simply because we want them to over come some sort of gambling addiction which might even change the gamblers life for good someday when lick shines on the gamble.
Internet is one thing that is already becoming part of our daily life and I wouldn’t have to blame the internet for anything because it offers both the good and the bad and it is left for an individual to filter out what they would prefer to take from the internet.

I do not think hiding your gambling activities will be of help to an addicted gambler, especially one who is not willing to be helped. If I have a friend who is a problem gambler which I want to help, I'll rather recommend that we gamble together and do many other activities together too. We are friends and I believe we will both enjoy doing many stuffs together, including gambling which we both enjoy.

I have just one simple mission; to divert his attention from just gambling to many other activities he never knew he could enjoy, help him manage his time effectively till he gets use to it and reduce his addiction to gambling. It is difficult convincing an addicted gambler to stop gambling completely, especially when he is yet to make up his mind on quitting. In situations like this, you just need to make them comfortable with you till whatever plans you have for them is successfully achieved.

I am not a professional, anything beyond my control will be communicated to a therapist  who will take it up from there.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

NB: The discussion was first started on altcoinstalks.

There is no need to hide your gambling activities to advise gamblers. Because, if you are a responsible gambler and can manage your betting style and finances well. Then at least, your gambling activities will be an inspiration for those who are gambling addicts, because they have more losing experiences than winning. Thus, you will be able to advise them by pointing out the experience or results you have in gambling. But indeed, basically advising someone is something difficult, no matter what kind of background you have. Because if they have become an addict, the reality is that they will not care about any advice given.

I do not think it is the right thing to do to hide your gambling activities from another person that is trying to quit, after all a person that has never gambled before has no idea what it is like, it is like if a single person gave marriage advice to those that are married, it does not really make a lot of sense, so if anything your advice holds more weight because you are a responsible gambler, and you can tell them that what they are doing is not right and they need to change their ways or quit.

what I understand from the people who advised another to quit from gambling is that there are using the advice as a trial because when you see majority of people who advice other people not to participate in gambling any longer those people the gambles secretly without the awareness of those people the encourage so in some certain thing we should not depend on some people's advice because there is some antivirus that is not relevant that can also destroy you when you believe on their thought of theory that is why it is good for someone to have a personal decision if you want to quit a gambling that is your personal decision not something someone will wake up one day and they encourage you unnecessary so I think that idea is not valid from my own way of understanding things

IMO the best way is to tell their friends and family so that all of them act like gambling is wrong and keep telling him that he should quit., When he gets surrounded by similar opinions he'll eventually start thinking like he's the only one with a different opinion, like the whole world is against him and he should do something about it. Family should also block his account and stop all money outflows. A gambler with no money to spend will not gamble.

It is actually a great idea to help people with this topic, some experienced gamblers may have things to say where nobody else can give as he never been addicted. It’s also great to read all the possible way that can help people control themselves and at least reduce their excessive gambling activities.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

I believe that the best possible way to help addicted gamblers is by sharing you bad stories with gambling and how you dealt with it for another successful way other than being just an addict. Honestly, I am a gambler myself and sometimes, I have hard time to control my activity and feel bad once I end up gambling even a small amount.
My first days feeling the addiction of gambling, I felt so bad and helpless against it, because you end up always losing more and more money while chasing a small profit or your previous losses. That feeling of guilt and wanting to recover your money is so hard to manage. However, the best way to stop gambling is knowing the chances of losing and accepting them. Staying away from your phone whenever you have extra money and spending it in another place rather than Gambling may help you a lot, when you see the benefits of getting something from that amount of money rather than losing it, I always say if I gambled that money I wouldn’t have this device or meal or whatever you did with that amount.

Even as a responsible gambler, you may not be taken seriously if you advise another fellow gambler who is having problems and slowly becoming an addict to stop gambling completely.
Given an advise dose not matter but not all some people's can listen to what you want to tell them, because of a person is trying to tell them they should stop gambling completely so that it will know lead them to addicted, but they will even listen talkless of fellow the advise and my problems with some people's is that, you see some of gambling people's that are allowed ot to be come an addicted to their body are the one that didn't have gambling experiences.
Quote

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.
Even thought you try to deceive them that a gambling is not a reliable success of income, they will never believe with that, expecially those that as been a while in gambling they didn't have hands work apart from the gambling, they can directly you tell you that nothing a person can tell them that a gambling is not a success of income some will say that, since is the one put food on their table.

They are on things, which is a fact to be considered when you want to rescue someone from addiction. You can’t tell him to quit it all, and you won’t still give him or her a solution, but you will work together to help him or her identify the solution to his problem by himself, which will help him or her to take it more seriously and make it easy for them to adopt the solution. because they were the ones that identified the solution, so to me, that will be the best solution to quit gambling. because if you give them the desire to work, they will find you to be blamed in any circumstances.

Also, if you want someone to stop being addicted to something he is doing, then definitely you, as a therapist or adviser who wants to make a positive change in the person's life, must tell him the issue or problem that such a thing is going to cause him negatively. You will tell him the good and bad sides of what he is doing, and he will now be the one to choose. I believe that for someone who wants his life to be better, he will definitely look for a way, regardless of how it is, to stop the act. Although for someone to stop an addiction, it must be a gradual process that won’t be done at once, I believe that after knowing the consequences, he will definitely stop the act.

- Stay away from all device
- Send all of your financial to someone you're trust
This two will work, the last one is not practical, you will need another set of money for you to live in country side.

Other hobbies will help too, like any physical activities, going to gym regularly, carpentry, jogging regularly will boost you physically and mentally, it always works.

It's like filling each activity with more positive things, so that it will divert the addiction quite effectively.
But the success also depends on whether the addict is himself.

Some of the practical ways described can be quite useful, such as staying away from all devices that are the main access to gambling.
and limit everything that will be related to gambling and most importantly there must be control from the closest people so that efforts to stay away from addiction can be netted according to plan.

I think people helping the ones addicted should always advocate for abstention. It's the clear path forward and the only solution that works with everyone.

While some people might be able to put themselves under control, it's not something guaranteed. So it's reasonable to say that if relapse is a danger that can affect most addicts, better just advocate for complete abstention for everyone. It's not only a matter of being taken seriously but also a matter of being responsible.

I want to say though the most important step any person affected by addiction can make is to accept his fault and take help.

That's the other side of the coin, which doesn't necessarily mean that this is right and the OP's opinion isn't. Someone who has gone through gambling, and they aren't addicted themselves, has hands-on experience with gambling, and thus may be more suitable to give advice, as you're supposedly the role model of someone who's a responsible gambler, enjoying his time and earning some money in return every now and then.

In my opinion, if someone's addicted, drastic measures, along with therapy, are required, such as cutting their access to money, especially online payments, blocking their casino accounts, or even the websites themselves.

This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.

When people go to the hospital and are in front of the doctor for consultation, they do not ask the doctor if the doctor also has the same disease and if he has the same disease, if he managed to cure himself. That's not how things work. Anyone who needs help because they cannot control themselves should go to the doctor for treatment, they should not be worried or force the person who is giving them advice to go to the doctor to also go to the doctor knowing that the person who is giving them advice He plays and is in very good health. We have to be aware that gambling is not making many people addicted to the point that it becomes a constant topic, gambling has little contribution when it comes to the increase in cases of addiction, alcohol and drugs are the biggest problem.

I consider the few cases of addicted people to be an accident and that they should go to the doctor for cure. unfortunately some people will always abuse something and become addicted, this unfortunately happens in our society. Just to see that there are many people addicted to food and are overweight and are constantly in hospitals, so gaming addiction should not be seen as something alarming in the sense that there are a number of alarming cases, because there aren't. Also, no one should be ashamed to say that they play and no one should hide that they play

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.

people who play hardly tell anyone that they look at gambling as a source of income, in my case I tell everyone that I play, but I don't look at games as a source of income

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

gambling is a good thing, and something that should be seen as entertainment. If a person comes to us and says that he plays to earn money, we have to ask him if he first pays all the bills and if after that he gambles, when he says yes, then we just have to tell him to play in moderation and always pay. accounts first and then play. Hardly anyone plays to lose, me for example, although I play for fun and only with a small amount, when I play I'm thinking about winning a bet and money, I'm not happy with a defeat. So the only thing we can do is give basic advice:

1 - only play with money you can afford to lose
2 - when you feel that you cannot control yourself, seek medical help
