I remember it as a lending platform. Many newbies are not aware of Ethconnect because they launched their ICO back in 2017, when many good projects launched their projects through ICOs, as did these scam ICOs.

That 3000 is huge if you hodl until now if I'm not mistaken BNB was at $1.94 back then, so you've lost more or less $6000, it's traumatizing really but we have all a share of losses because that was the time the industry was diluted with fake projects. There were good projects but so were bad projects whose intention is to scam.

Pyramid - Ponzi Scheme, remember Ethconnect and remember Bitconnect (one of the largest cryptocurrency scams). There are still lingering sadness after many years.

It was the largest scam disguised as a cryptocurrency. AFAIR they used to give high staking reward and the prices kept on rising. They were so popular and so much in demand that they stayed in top 5 crypto by market cap in coinmarketcap. They got into legal troubles and when the price started falling and never recovered. They'd have been a successful memecoin if present at current time but they promised being something they were not and hence got in trouble. The growth was so inflated that the bubble was going to burst one day or other.

Yes! I remember it and at that time there were lots of successful ICOs and stories of successful investments as well that's why when it gets to the top, people blindly follow others to invest in it without even realizing the possible consequences of their actions because the platform promises them good to be true return of investment which we all know a red flag no matter what is it.

But as you can see, we have the same fate concerning losses even though I haven't invested in such a project, I also fell into a trap with some other investors where we thought we finally found a good project and decided to poor decent amount of crypto to but the same has happened because there were no improvement and until now, the price of their coins hasn't been increasing for years now.

I remember that scam and that's a lot of BNB's that you've lost to it. If you haven't lost that, say that you held those BNBs until it has reached $700 then that approximately around $3.5M. You're already rich by now. But unfortunately, you've been a victim of it as you've said, I'm sorry about that terrible experience.

I agree. Not just with your story but there are also other stories to hear on how their investments went and how they have failed with their decisions in the past. If they haven't committed those mistakes, they probably have done something new or they're already rich.

Yeah i remember that too, ETH connect being created after bitconnect which has been getting so popular in the past with billions marketcap. Lucky me, i was not that stupid in sending a bunch of money to them, and i remember my folks were losing a lot of money from participating on bitconnect and ethconnect.

Anything related to the connect token had been so popular in the past, but you were very very wrong to send your BNB to the eth connect.

You are now becoming a new millionaires if you were not doing that.

That's a large amount of money to be lost in the Ponzi scheme. I don't know how much the US value was at that time, but with the current price, it's worth a fortune. 
 
My question is, were the people who got affected by this scam unaware that it was a Ponzi scheme, or did they know and wanted to take advantage of the Ponzi by trying to make profit from it through their high reward system, and in the process, the system crashed on them?

Expensive lesson. But sure, it would be worse, as some people don' t learn from one lesson and need to pay for several more scams. I just call failed coins and scams i fall into as "courses" or "lessons" so my attitude towards them at least gives me something from those catastrophies.

I myself have paid my share of eth for them and because of that. I've lost most of my trust in people in here. Blind trust i didn't ever have, but now i have hard time even listening to investment advices from close friends, as all i see are people falling love to their bags, and how they are unwilling to see anything objectively anymore.

Being mislead by someone you truly trust will make you remove the need for trust, and at least i just replaced trust with risk.

Nope, its completely traumatized me to the point where I stayed away from the market for a while and came back semi 2022.

I coulda shoulda woulda been a millionaire....but I'm sitting on 1 bitcoin right now 

I'm hoping that when bitcoin hits 100K I can put that bitcoin into a few new ALTS (newly listed on binance) with momentum with a marketcap under 100M to 10x that into a million and hopefully make my first M.

I appreciate your resilience! Thanks for telling your story, and for staying strong. Scam projects have become even more frequent nowadays, so stay vigilant. With prices dropping because of many reasons (Japan's stock exchange is one of them) there would be many opportunities to hop in, in my opinion.

There were investors that have been lucky with ICOs but it's true that they're not all profitable. That's what everyone should have done at that moment when you're able to make a lot of money from these ICOs, to reinvest it to a top coin or no other than Bitcoin or just kept it through stablecoins.

You're right, that's how I also sees the market on when it's best to invest in alts. I mean it's best to invest before any pump or ATH happens. But that's the sign when alts are going to reach ATHs, that's when Bitcoin goes up already first.

You're not the only one; that was when scammers had not yet infiltrated the industry, and there were a lot of great projects. And we only want to become an early bird for future profit. Bitconnect and ethconnect are just some of the projects that ended investors' trust in every project that came along at that time and is still going on today.

So we learn a lesson now to do our deep research and not just believe in promises. For these crooked scammers, it's easy to create or build a project that looks so real. We are warned to double-check because there are always projects like Ethconnect roaming around.

I think you will be more careful in determining your attitude towards investment, thanks to the experience you have gone through and it is a valuable lesson for others, in crypto has grown rapidly and become an investment that can generate profits, but this opportunity has been widely misused for fraud in the crypto industry, because many users become victims, they deceive and make to increase the investment value to be many times the initial capital but in reality it never materializes, so the need for carefulness before entering into investment.

It's a harsh reality, really. Making an analysis, and a good one at that, is key for those who want to strive in the current state of the market and projects in it, in my opinion.

There are a zillion of those but why in the world would ypu have put any money towards something called ethconnect.  Biggest red flag is when a coin is called something else that already exists.  Don't gamble on anything with eth, btc, doge etc that isn't the original coin.  People use those names to draw people in and take theor money.  Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I didn't even hear about it, I only remember Bitconnect. But, thankfully, I stayed away from it.
