Is there a European team that can stand against America? I don't think it will happen this year. Players in America have higher motivation than ever before, they are preparing well for the tournament

Players from every country have the same motivation and preparedness too though. Although I do agree that USA is heads and shoulders above every other countries when it comes to basketball. Turkey have a good league but I don't understand why they're team is not in a solid form. Australia too is good.
When you look at all the countries, USA is actually better than all them, but then again, it's sports. A dominant team might get a shock and there can be an upset.
Personally, I won't bet on USA because they're favourites and their odd is too small.

Tomorrow , USA plays against Serbia and I do see the game being a tough one for Serbia but I also do see them putting up a great game and score a lot because so far we didn't see spectacular games with a lot of points and hopefully tomorrow this game will deliver a high score game.

I don't think the US has ever lost an Olympic gold medal when they were legitimately trying to win it.  I believe Michael Jordan was on an Olympic team that got silver or bronze but he was just out of college if memory serves me.  There's been quite a few times where the US just sent the best college guys, as I don't think the Pro's wanted to risk injury or whatever at certain times in mens bball olypic play. 

That said they sure as shit are going hard for gold this year.  The US technically is so far beyond any teams it's not even funny.  I mentioned earlier in this thread that the US is so stacked with players, there's enough to make up about 2 more full teams that theoretically should win gold in these games.  Some guys got straight snubbed (james harden, Kyrie Iriving, Jaylen Brown..to name just a few).

But sheer talent doesn't always win out, chemistry is HUGE!

France as I predicted obviously will win against Brazil and the handicap was covered at -10.5. Germany also covered the -14.5 against Japan.
South Sudan against Puerto Rico is still playing until now. We will see if South Sudan can really play that well and win this match because they showed some good talent during the exhibition against the USA team. I hope they can win this one.

Got 1-1 so far, Greece lost to Canada but that's fine. I have put my faith to Giannis and the Greece team even though I know that Canada is next to the team USA. France has won against Brazil so it has got me a win. Waiting for my last bet with Serbia and USA but not with the match winner but with total points made in the game.

Actually, France struggled early; it's just that their defense worked well in the second half, which is why they won. Honestly, I don't think they'll win the gold with the way they play. They are too predictable, and if Wemby is limited, they'll struggle. They are good with defense, but offensively, that's a big question against a good team like the USA, Germany, Australia, and Canada.

South Sudan against Puerto Rico is still playing until now. We will see if South Sudan can really play that well and win this match because they showed some good talent during the exhibition against the USA team. I hope they can win this one.

That was -3.5 for South Sudan. Well, as predictable, South Sudan won the game as they did pretty well in the 2nd half and resulted to an 11 point victory.

Canada is really full of NBA players, not just ordinary players but star players as well. They have Barrett, Brooks, SGA, and Murray. These players alone have earned huge contracts with their respective teams, so we can say they really are star players. SGA is really tough to guard, and I'm not sure who would slow him down if they face Team USA in the finals.

In the game between South Sudan vs Puerto Rico, South Sudan won because of their good teamwork. Jose Alvarado, an NBA player, led Puerto Rico in the first half, but he struggled in the second half. I think he was injured a bit, so that really changed the complexion of the game.

I didn't expect Puerto Rico to lead in the first half against South Sudan; I thought South Sudan would dominate the entire game. They just made comeback in the last quarter. I'm sure Puerto Rico won't make it to the quarter finals in Paris Olympics because it's unlikely they'll win against Team USA and Serbia in the group stage. I think South Sudan has better chance of keeping up with Serbia. Their close game against the USA in the exhibition match was probably just luck. So for me South Sudan can't win against Team USA.

I expect Holiday to take a backseat role unlike in the warm up games, honestly he’s only on the team for his D and bn the only legit PG, so they needed a guy like him to facilitate the offense. Considering that Germany is the last world champion, we would already see that Japan does not have much of a chance. Japan is not a very developed country in terms of basketball, I don't think they will have much of a chance in the Olympics. Germany started this championship well and showed everyone how assertive it is. I wonder what they can do against France or USA

USA doesn't care about FIBA World Cup at all. You would understand from their roster choice in the last one as well. This was why we saw them even finishing the tournament in 4th place.

But it isn't the same as for Olympics. USA brings their best roster full of NBA stars here. Because of that, I don't think Germany can repeat this success right now.    I don't expect any other team to do it either. It would be a big surprise to see USA not going for the gold medal as a result.

Currently they are beating Serbia by the way. It is a nice privilege to watch these world stars here too thanks to Olympics. I don't expect USA to lose any game in the group phase.

USA took a solid win against Serbia. For some time Serbia managed to keep close, but KD who simply can't miss today was probably main factor.
And in general, getting so much pleasure watching basketball in Olympics so far, most of games very very high level.

I saw this game as more or less similar level teams. Puerto Rico also have good players in their roster, like Alvarado who continued to play even injured. After all, they eliminated Lithuania in qualifiers. But yeah, this loss means that Puerto Rico don't have chances to reach 1/4 final.

Speaking of Rudy Fernandez, I think he's the only one that has got a record for playing in Olympic basketball games 6 straight Olympics in a row. I can still remember when Ricky Rubio was on the lineup with him 20 years ago IIRC.

I do recognize him, he was consistent with the team in the Olympics. About Rubio, he was the MVP when they won a gold in the FIBA world cup IIRC, but I don't see him anymore so probably he had retired like he retires with the NBA. Last time I check, it was published that he had some mental problem that's why he is not playing anymore.

Rubio has announced his retirement early this year or late last year. He was playing for the Cavs but then even his contract hasn't ended yet, he announced his retirement.

My bet for the total scores including overtime for Serbia and USA lost. The total score was 110-84. My bet was under 184.5. When Jokic was out, Team USA was able to score around 26 points.  I don't know what's in the mind of their coach but that certainly blown a mind game to Kerr and to allow his boys to score continuously. I'm cheering for both teams and I'm not blaming at the expense of my bet. I just loved this sport as well and betting has always its risk, more games to come. The upcoming games are also interesting. Despite with the issues about the opening of Olympics about mockery, we just love to watch more ball games.

But still, as a powerhouse in Basketball, they also dominating the FIBA for many years until they got tired of it or the world has catch up with them. But Olympics is totally different, and even if this players are playing opposite against each other in the NBA, when it comes to the Olympics, they are all locked in.

And just like what they have done before in the exhibition matches, they completely demolished Serbia and Jokic and probably will advise in their group in the next round. We should be liking what we are seeing from team Canada though, SGA trash talking hehehe.

I think you are right, and maybe add also the fact that USA has been the defending champions in Olympics since 2008 so in order for them to defend the title, they need to go all-in and put a roster filled with superstars. US team also know that other teams are coping up already and they're becoming stronger hence, they created a team like this. TBH, this team is like a Redeem team version 2.0 for me, and we just saw it last night when they faced Serbia where they just destroyed them especially in the 2nd half.

The starters of the US team are superstars. Now if you will put the 2nd unit, they're also superstars, and they're having a hard time stopping them. I mean 110 points in just 40 minutes? It just shows how dominating the US team will be all throughout the Olympics. As for Germany, they might won the World cup because other countries aren't going all-in on it, but it's a different scenario with the Olympics. Like what you said, their success in World Cup might not be the same here in the Olympics.

Can you believe the point spread for South Sudan vs USA? It's South Sudan at +30.5. I'm sure a lot of bettors here would try to bet on that high spread, amd of there's a moneyline odds for that, I'm sure that's another attraction for them.
