Oil discovery is not a blessing for the community living around the site. Oil extraction means a lot of drilling and spilling, with some waste ending up in rivers and causing pollution. Moreover, the infrastructure that gets built for oil extraction destroys local vegetation and, consequently, makes the area hostile for wildlife.

Every resource on earth is a blessing and each serves different purposes in the world. What we do to those resources or actions taken because of it is being done by us. We choose to be good or bad, and that is why you see people fighting for most of the resources. It is human nature that paved the way for wickedness. So it doesn't stop the people from making good use of the resources that were given to their country. Oil discovery led to the development of too many things in this world, we manufacture more than 6,000 products in the world, thanks to the discovery of oil. We use oil as a fuel (car, truck, airplane), in cosmetics, in medicine and etc... Benefits that we as a modern society receive from you, is great and exponential.
As you said, conflicts happen but it's not because of oil. There were conflicts before B.C. and it's still today, it will always be because that's human nature. Oil can sometimes trigger it but conflict will happen even if oil doesn't exist. I consider oil discovery as a blessing.

Depends on how you view it? Any discovery of a useable resource is usually a blessing no matter what but if it does cause some unnecessary side effect, most likely a cause of war or something then it can definitely be seen as a curse.

Ofc if you meant how there are better alternatives now which are a lot more environment friendly, then I'd still think it's a blessing. You can say that with many things but at least with the discovery of oil it brings many benefits and it has changed our society for the better I would say. mismanagement is not a function of resources or lack of resources, even in nations that have little resource, they still mismanage it. Oil is a blessing to the world and has gone to help a lot of regions far more than we've ever imagined. The main issue i have with extraction of oil resource in most part of the world is the inability of the exploration companies to take care of the environment they are getting the resource from and just fucose on getting the resource while the life of the average man that's in the surrounding us made worse than it was before the resource was discovered. OP, this forum thread is so random. Is there any reason why you decided to post this forum thread? Do you live in a country or a region where oil was recently discovered? I don't remember any countries around the world fighting against each other for oil in the last several decades.
Oil discovery was a blessing for the small countries in the Persian Gulf and for a small country like Norway. Other countries that have big oil reserves like Russia, USA, Nigeria and Venezuela aren't that rich(maybe except the USA, but that's another topic).
The world will slowly move towards alternative forms of energy in the upcoming several decades. The oil dependency of the global economy is going to a steady decline.

You said it yourself. Oil brought about a lot of economic growth and the industrial revolution's propulsion, it also became such a valuable commodity that countries will literally kill thousands upon thousands of people whom they have no business even stepping foot on their soil of for this shit.

If we're only going to look at the good things that Oil brought to us, it's going to be easy to sideline all the slavery, mass genocide, annexing, and a lot of other war crimes committed by super power countries for the sake of the black gold. This I think is gravely unfair to those who suffered, especially in the Middle East, where most of the slavery and forced labor commenced during the 21st century.

Well, I was supposed to be a blessing, at least nature made it so, but its impact on the lives and infrastructural development of the countries that has it justifies if it meets the purpose of being a blessing or not.

Government pattern of managing these resources has a major role to play, if managed well, and the citizens living conditions are improved with its revenue, then it's a blessing to the country, else it is a curse to that country. It really depends on how stable a country is before the oil is found, but these days it feels like all the biggest deposits have already been detected or countries are at least extracting already. You can see that Saudi Arabia has grown into one of the wealthiest countries on the planet, literally handing out free money to it's citizens because of the vast amounts of wealth that oil has created for it. Yet Iran, which seems to constantly goad it's neighbors with death threats because of it's even more unhinged leadership is still a pariah. There is definitely a path that needs to be navigated by the leaders of all countries, because they can often become pawns in larger geopolitical games if they do not adequately protect their power.

Crude oil has been a blessing to mankind right from it's inception, crude oil and it's byproducts are what almost all our locomotive machines and engines use. The reason why it always comes as an issue for some countries, is as a result of group of persons that will masquerade themselves as leaders and try to siphon the proceeds that will accrue from the sale of crude oil to themselves and leave the majority of the people little to nothing to survive with. So for me, that is the major issue that comes with crude oil and its discovery.

The other one that seems to be another issue for crude oil is the emission of carbon into the air by heavy carbonated machines which to a large extends helps deplete the ozone layer and also increases the case of climate change and unfavorable weather conditions. and I think that is one of the major reasons why electric cars and none combustion engines are heavily in production across Europe and other part of the world, just to help and reduce carbon emission.

God deposit different natural resources in places for human beings to harness and manage them but unfortunately, some countries have not been able to use theirs for the benefit of all but for selfish and personal gains. Those leaders who have found themselves to be embezzling the general wealth of the people need to have a rethink because it won't make them inherit all the world riches.
