Airdrop has been buzzing lately and for some of us who haven't been involved in it before now, some of the tasks we're required to perform are new to us and we just flow along with what people are doing without knowing the potential danger that is associated with doing some of that task. Specifically, a particular airdrop, "Blum" displayed and posted on her telegram story that it had been hacked, and then the option to continue tapping remained intact while the gaming pattern changed. Plus sometimes you're just required to visit their site without knowing what it means.

So I'm wondering, is it possible that your device could be hacked into while visiting some of the sites you are made to visit while performing some of the airdrop tasks?

Is there a possible strategy some hackers and fraudulent people can use in harming those that are involved in the tapping thing so that if we know it we can avoid them?

Share your experience and safety tips that will help me and other new people who aren't exposed to the airdrop thing.

Yes, there is a high chance of your device getting compromised if the airdrop developer's intention is to do that. The task that they ask their users to be doing can contain phishing links that the user might not be aware of, and clicking on such links and granting them permission to certain areas of your device can make that very possible.

And for airdrops that require you to connect your wallet to your dapp before you can withdraw your token from them, always make sure that you make use of a new wallet for each airdrop that you are participating in to reduce the danger, because the moment you connect your wallet to their dapp, you have endangered the wallet with whatever holdings are inside of it.

It's possible. Once you're visiting an unknown site with malware, your device can be hijacked. This happens often. Airdrop creators force you to visit an unknown site. Then, they force you to connect your wallet to this malicious site to finish the task.

There is a possible strategy to avoid such case. You should copy the link and paste it into notepad or a search engine. Then, you will know if it is a real or fake site with malware.

You have indeed pointed out an important issue: the airdrop field involves potential risks, and anyone should conduct their research and follow safety guidelines before undertaking any airdrop tasks to qualify for Airdrop. These tasks may include opening links such as websites, connecting a wallet, or interacting with a smart contract, among others. It would be best to use an alternative wallet and an alternative phone that does not contain sensitive or important information and data.

I am unfamiliar with the Blum project you mentioned, but according to their official Discord channel and their account on X, they have clarified that they have not been hacked. As part of their promotional strategies, they have collaborated with an artist, "PokrasLampas," who paints in the style of calligraphy. Please check the attached images.

As long as you don’t give permission for that website or airdrop project to access your wallet or device then you are safe, along with sharing your personal informations such as email, passwords and anything sensitive. Some airdrops or let’s say most of them requires to connect your wallet using a Dapp, this means you are giving them some permissions to access your wallet, in this particular case you have to be aware of smart contracts and read those permissions before accepting to connect your wallet, it’s recommended to do some research about that airdrop project to find if it is legitimate and their smart contracts are safe.

It is very crucial to understand how these airdrops works, there are thousands of them on the internet now, some of these projects have already huge communities but that doesn’t mean they are safe. And to avoid this risk, make sure to open a new wallet, without leaving funds inside it, and keep it particularly for airdrops.

Is there a possible strategy some hackers and fraudulent people can use in harming those that are involved in the tapping thing so that if we know it we can avoid them?

Share your experience and safety tips that will help me and other new people who aren't exposed to the airdrop thing.

It has always been clicking a link and enticing you to connect your wallet so always be aware of what you are clicking and who has given you the link.

The official Telegram channel always issues warnings if there are attacks on their community, so be sure to get updated on the latest updates.

Since these tapping airdrops are Android based you need to read this article on the many signs of Phone hacking and how to prevent and fix the issues

Aside from getting scammed and getting your effort and time wasted? I think these are the worst already. The only consideration why many people are still engaging with airdrops is simply because in most instances, participants will only have to work for the rewards, which is different from launchpools that requires investing to the project. Well, airdrops are simply just an option or alternative to actual investment. So if you won't be really having your way through aidrops then the only thing left is to invest. So maybe it depends on your preference and tolerance. When I was doing a couple of airdrop engagements, I also suffered from frauds and scam campaigns but it is quite a part of the journey I think.
So I'm wondering, is it possible that your device could be hacked into while visiting some of the sites you are made to visit while performing some of the airdrop tasks?
It's possible. Once you're visiting an unknown site with malware, your device can be hijacked. This happens often. Airdrop creators force you to visit an unknown site. Then, they force you to connect your wallet to this malicious site to finish the task.

Utilizing communities to check a project's credibility would also be a good thing to do to lessen your worries. At least in such way we would be able to gain legitimate insights from fellow investors.

So I'm wondering, is it possible that your device could be hacked into while visiting some of the sites you are made to visit while performing some of the airdrop tasks?

Share your experience and safety tips that will help me and other new people who aren't exposed to the airdrop thing.
Of course they can be hacked.

Just use same reasoning as you use with any malware, but doubly so. Any site can contain malware, and when you start clicking things and connecting wallets, you should use your brain and double check the official urls, and rethink the situation.

There are also various fake telegram and discord groups impersonating the real teams and real channels with bought members from fiverr, so that they look real, and they are often scamming exactly by telling that there's a free airdrop for you. And all you get is your wallet drained. Or if it's empty, you might forget it and get it drained later on.

When dealing with cryptos, you most likely encounter hack attempts, wallet drainers and every form of scams. So basic cyber security isn't even always enough. You need to take all the possible extra steps like you were securing the state secrets. When everyone seems to get something for free, and there aren't even any decent requirements for it, it's most likely a scam. And remember that even the OGs in here have been scammed, or at least have been in danger of being scammed at some point.

Lots of scammers are taking advantage of airdrops and scamming people, so if you are participating in any airdrop, make sure you don’t make use of the wallet where your funds are. Always make sure you have a separate wallet that you will be using to participate in airdrops. In case there is a hack  or the airdrop is created by scammers, then they won’t  be having anything that they will be moving from the wallet. But if you make use of the wallet which your funds are, they can hack into it, and everything that you have in it will be gone, so we have to be smart.

Anybody who did airdrop once in their life did fall victim to this shit trick. Among the victim list is me, my seniors, my friends, literally anyone who is involved with airdrop. Even a month ago one of my senior, who started doing airdrops recently, lost a lot of his funds due to this. All he did was connect his wallet with a dapp and boom, drained of all funds without realizing anything. Smiley

Yes, the possibility is there especially if you have just downloaded their app and gave them permission to access your device. If you are familiar with matters like giving access to our camera from the apps that we download and also with our contacts, that's how the hackers can penetrate your device and that's why it's very possible that hackers can hack you by participating these airdrops and joining these telegram gaming apps in hope of having a good share of their upcoming airdrop.

Just make sure to never install shady app from whatever airdrop game is telling you to do always do a thorough research. typically visiting a website of these airdrops won't harm you, it will only harm you when you start installing app or randomly approving interaction to the smart contract.
one of the thing that scammers looking for to steal from you is your asset and that by telling you to approve token spending specifically ERC20 to their contract address which then they can use to drain you of all the token you have.

best course of action for this is by simply keep using new address for whatever airdrop you're doing,

yes, that possibility can happen, everything is always guaranteed that airdrop security mainly depends on user awareness and implementation of good practices, in this case it is important to verify the authenticity of the airdrop announcement and never share the private key, and the next step is to avoid clicking on the links that are shared on social media, forums or email to prevent hackers from entering your device, it seems like a solution that needs to be implemented to prevent this fraud.

Honestly you should be concerned of yourself getting drained due to randomly following airdrop, in fact, right now TON is among the hottest blockchain that it causes so many scammers and phishers to infest into the blockchain and creeping up into its whole ecosystem.

if you don't want to lose your asset, just never interact with airdrop at all honestly, you better off not doing anything airdrop related if you really don't have any idea, the scamming scheme varies so much sometime newbie having hard time recognizing one.
but if you insist, just follow airdrop that's coming from reputable project backed by reputable investor, at least you know who's behind the project in case things go south.

it kind of reminds me LotteFi scam, this whole project is created by scammer that tries to steal money for you and it happened in TON as well, these scammers just never stop.

I personally don't believe in quick and easy money that comes from mere tapping on the screen and although at some point along the line I've tried some airdrop because of the hype it came with on the social media, the task you're required to perform is a total turn off for me. I mean, it's just as though you're enslaved to the project. you have to do multiple referrals even when you're unsure of the project and still subscribe to dozens of YouTube channels and other telegram channels while visiting a site you're not sure if it's malicious or not. The energy you're expected to put into most of these airdrops of a thing if shifted into a more productive thing will yield far better results compared to this airdrop of a thing but because it's built on hype and a lot of people are already into it, it's just normal for people to flow along with it without necessarily counting the cost.

As long as you're using the same device that contains some sensitive details that if gotten into the wrong hands could hurt you in a negative sense, it's best to avoid airdrop in its entirety. You can't be too careful enough and surely, scammers are getting more smart by the day and might outsmart you while you're setting out an analog technique to protect yourself from them.

Maybe, because you don't know, I mean for early projects like BLUM it to risk.
If visit certain sites during airdrop jobs, make sure can definitely damage your wallet. Hackers often make fake websites or clone website maybe. For me, if I connect website for aidrop or presale, I check again details link in upper menu.
In situation I advice make another wallet and is new or especially for airdrop and split with your main wallet.

If you are going to try to claim airdrops, good luck with that, then you need to do it in a device in which you do not have any of your wallets installed, you have never accessed some sort of service which has your banking data and you have never stored any personal information there, if you can do that then even if you were hacked you will not lose any important information, anything other than that and you are playing with fire and most likely you will lose anything of value you store in that device.

Definitely. There's definitely a few methods people can do to make you download some weird stuff, access your cookies and stuff like that just by visiting the site. It's really easy to make someone do it in an airdrop as well, just make it a requirement to receive the token lol. There's also the chance of the user just being completely brain-dead that the site/app requests access to your wallet and you just, well, accept it.

To avoid it if you really wanted to participate, you do it in a VM of sorts so that everything that gets there, lives there. It's not fully isolated though afaik? I'm not sure,  never tested it, but at probably at least a lot better than letting malware directly into your PC.

Immediately the hype and rise of so many tapping projects on Telegram increased every day i knew that the scammers and fake projects would join the train. One has been exposed and sooner more will be exposed only but a few will be able to do what Notcoin and other successful ones have done. We should all be careful because there are crazy developers and project managers out there ready to use this method to take a lot from their users.

The area I'm always be security conscious is connecting of wallet address to the website, in the name of claim airdrop rewards which I can't try it and most of the website is dangerous, after I have learned my lesson by connecting my wallet address to a fishing link, and hard for me to participate such airdrop. Once connection of website is not involved, I'm not participating, before you can get rewards is good to participate on airdrop after you have read the rules.
